  • Dallas Thomas at LT

How does everyone feel about sitting Tanny Now??
Count on Dallas Thomas! The club has decided that if Jason Fox is unable to play in Saturday's preseason game against Atlanta, Thomas will be asked to move to left tackle from his left guard position. He would protect Ryan...

Sorry........seeing Mando's face in this thread made me think of this scene and I couldn't concentrate on the thread topic.

If Tanny gets hurt because they insisted on playing him, Philbin should be fired on the spot. my 2 cents

Agreed 100%. An injury to Tannehill would be devastating. We've seen what he can do and he has a full grasp of the offense. I'd let Moore, Bethel-Thompson and Freeman play out the meaningless pre-season....at least until we get Albert back.

You go into the game running left and let Thomas get some push. The routes are only one step, three step drops, roll outs to the right and screens. You have to play him as this could happen during the season as well. You also have to put a TE over to help and let the RB chip.

this is my feelings exactly.lazor needs to call the offense that makes sense to the current situation. run the ball ,quick passes and when he has to pass ,protection with rb's and te's would be in order. you are right nole, and that is probably about what will happen.

I get what you're saying Shane and yes it could happen during the season but that's when you "HAVE" to play your starting QB. In a meaningless preseason it's a huge risk to take for nothing.

In my opinion the players on the team that the coaches THINK are the best players at each position should start, with the quarterback out on the field with them. There is no way of knowing if Thomas can play Left Tackle with Tannehill at the helm unless they let him do it. I am NOT a fan of Thomas and I am just counting the days until he is cut, but I would love it if they were able to get some production out of him. The Dolphins ARE getting to the point were they are in desperation mode because nobody knows if Albert will be healthy enough to start the season, and if he is, will he re-injure himself? Left Tackle and Center are the most important positions on the line and if the Dolphins don't have a really good LT the season is going to be a long one and coaches will be fired.

I'm no OLine Expert but Dallas Thomas has absolutely no business playing there; when they tried him there before he had some of the worst footwork i've ever seen in a lineman. I think he's a crap to mediocre Guard..I definitely don't want him protecting Tannehill's blindside...Good time for Tanny to come down with the flu!

Add to that the fact that Thomas needs every snap he can get at guard in hopes he could improve to mediocre by the start of the season. Moving him around now won't help anyone. We'd be better off starting Linkenbach or picking up someone else to step in at LT.

The only reason I can think of is... they love the name " Dallas " I tried cutting him in the surprise cut thread. I tried............

Interesting choice to see what he could do in an EMERGENCY situation. I don't like it but, don't see any VG option.

Would you move James? Move Turner? Something else?

Putting Josh Freeman out there with a sign saying I'm your sacrificial lamb would work for me. Sit Tanny.

Tannehill need the work with our new receivers like Stills and Cameron.

I absolutely agree with that Joe but how much work will he get from his hospital bed? I'd rather have him rusty than broken. Just sayin

This is really a tough call. They all need the work and I would love to see if they can sustain an entire half of what we've seen so far. But I would hate to see Tannehill get hurt in a meaningless game behind an inexperienced blocker. I think I agree with ONOle and slide the protection that way and do some rollouts and screens for extra protection. I'm okay with not taking any deep shots this game.
                      Can we sign this guy?

And that's probably exactly how it will play out KC, the coaches aren't going to listen to me screaming God save the QB.
