  • Some Thursday Notes and Thoughts.

    - Rex Ryan once tried to hire Dantallica to the Jesters coaching staff but Miami declined the Jesters the interview.

“He’s certainly a guy that’s got a great reputation throughout the league,” Ryan said. “I wanted to bring that physical passion to my football team.”

    - Rex wouldn't fight Dantallica. HAHA

Ryan joked that the muscle-bound Campbell is one of few coaches that he couldn’t “whip” in a fight, adding: “He’s a big dude. I’m 52 years old, I’d like to see 53, so I think I’ll avoid that one.”

    - Chris McCain is getting more reps at DE and should be active with the loss of Wake. Will we see McCain as the Jack in the "speed" package as well?

Lou Anarumo says coaches trying to nail down role for Chris McCain to use his "unique skill set." Meaning ... Pass rush.

"The guy is unique because of his body type. To say at 230 pounds to slug it out as a D-lineman is hard to do," Anarumo on Chris McCain.

"He brings a unique skillset and we are going to try to take advantage of it," Miami DC Lou Anarumo on Chris McCain.

"Chris has a knack for doing that (chasing quarterbacks) and hopefully we will see him do that on Sunday," Lou Anarumo said.

    - Dantallica wants the Dolphins thinking and talking about PLAYOFFS.
    - "Lazor" on QB play- "If it's one on one downfield throw it to the WR and give him a chance to make plays"
    - The O has spent a lot of time working on 3rd downs in practice. Miami is DEAD LAST in 3rd down conversions. 3 of 20 the past two games.

Lazor blames poor early down runs for putting Dolphins in thid and long -- a down they often lost on vs. New England

    - Will the running game return since there was physical practice this week?
    - QB Matt Moore had plastic surgery to repair his broken nose.

Yeah, No Shit Lazor; Master of the Obvious!!! ..& BTW you might want to mention that it was your shitty playcalling & abandoning of the run that put us in those 3rd & longs...

Hoping Chris McCain can do more than run his mouth and run into OTackles. His previous pass rushing skill was to leap into the arms of opposing tackles and to give up after being chipped. Be nice if he can actually have a positive impact on the game and provide a physical presence in the wake of Wake...

WHAT? Cute play calling and passing short 90% doesn't win games!

I really thought he would've been groomed into the Jack and take over Dion Jordans old roles(or should've been). I think he was put into Phailbins dog house or mansion as there seemed to be A LOT of players in there.

Yeah, Philbin's doghouse was more of an doggie-highrise. That said, Chris McCain didn't play a whole lot in college and came out before getting a lot of experience or growing into his body. He's tall and slight of build. Wiry and strong, but hasn't physically matured to date. Hoping he can help out with the pass rush, but not expecting too much from him.

Since losing Wake, we need at least 2 DEs this offseason. Vernon and Shelby are both FAs, and I'm all for letting OV walk. He's been bad and is reported asking for lot of money. Not sure about Shelby, but Fede should be able to take on a large rotation role.

I think we are probably forced to draft a DE first 2 rounds this coming draft. Would love to get Joey Bosa, but he's likely Top 5 in the draft. Other names to watch include Lawson, Calhoun, Ogbah, Oakman, and Jon Bullard, A few others I forget, but have mentioned them previously.

Really wanting an ILB as well...

I agree, I think we will release Wake. Maybe we can bring him back at a much reduced salary as a situational pass rusher since thats how the rest of the league will probably view him so I don't think he is going to get any huge offers. I would let OV walk. He seems to have regressed. I would resign Shelby. Fede is under contract. So I would be looking for a moderately priced free agent if there is one available and I would draft a DE in the first 3 rounds. Bosa will be out of our reach. I like Carl Nassib out of Penn State. He might be a 2nd round prospect.

Yes we also need an ILB. Ragland might be an option in the first round. Imagine a LB corps of Jordan Ragland and Jenkins.
