He always compliments every team he is about to face. It's like a Jedi mind trick or something. He wants to get into the heads of the opposing players by saying how great they are. Reverse Psychology. Maybe he thinks opposing defenses will go easy on him because of all the compliments he gave them and their fellow teammates.

Pats always want teams drinking their own kool-aid, so they faux compliment everyone. But re-read what he said... he wasn't complimenting us - he was calling out his receivers, who have struggled with some drops and not making plays they usually do. They also lead the league in OPI with pick plays.

"To throw and catch like so efficiently, and they're making big plays, too. They're an explosive offense.''

I don't take any of that as compliments to our offense so much as him calling out his. As his wife, Gisele, famously said - he can't throw the football and CATCH it too. I'm sure she got that from him.
