  • Three Phins on D Likely Gone by 2020

    https://dolphinswire.usatoday.com/20...-else-in-2020/

Good article on Aikens, Alonzo, and Jones being somewhere other than here by 2020. Agree?

Here's a list of our FA's after this year. Anyone you would try to extend now or, wait for value to go up or down?
Jakeem Grant did not copy. He is 27 and make $620K last year. He is the one I would extend now. I'm thinking a 3 year $10M deal.

    Club Option
    DeVante Parker WR 27 MIA - $5,000,000 CO -
Eric Rowe CB 27 MIA TBD $3,500,000 UFA -
Akeem Spence DT 28 MIA TBD $3,000,000 UFA -
    Nick O'Leary TE 28 MIA TBD $1,500,000 UFA -
    Chris Reed G 28 MIA - $1,487,500 CO -
Walt Aikens FS 29 MIA TBD $1,350,000 UFA -
John Denney LS 41 MIA TBD $1,120,000 UFA -
Mike Hull ILB 29 MIA TBD $895,000 UFA -
Kenyan Drake RB 26 MIA TBD $845,315 UFA -
Nate Orchard OLB 27 MIA TBD $805,000 UFA -
Brice Butler WR 30 MIA TBD $797,500 UFA -
Jayrone Elliott OLB 28 MIA TBD $795,000 UFA -
Clive Walford TE 28 MIA TBD $720,000 UFA -
Cornellius Carradine DE 31 MIA TBD $720,000 UFA -
Adolphus Washington DT 25 MIA TBD $720,000 UFA

Albert Wilson WR 29 MIA TBD $8,000,000 UFA
Kenny Stills WR 29 MIA TBD $8,000,000 UFA
Kiko Alonso OLB 31 MIA TBD $7,227,500 UFA
Ryan Fitzpatrick QB 38 MIA TBD $5,500,000 UFA
DeVante Parker WR 28 MIA TBD $5,000,000 UFA
Daniel Kilgore C 33 MIA TBD $3,926,667 UFA
Dwayne Allen TE 31 MIA TBD $3,250,000 UFA
Laremy Tunsil LT 27 MIA TBD $3,114,413 UFA
Charles Harris DE 26 MIA - - CO
Chris Reed G 29 MIA TBD $1,487,500 UFA
Raekwon McMillan ILB 24 MIA TBD $1,174,384 UFA
Cordrea Tankersley CB 27 MIA TBD $794,072 UFA
Tyrone Holmes DE 27 MIA TBD $710,000 UFA
Joey Mbu DT 28 MIA TBD $690,000 UFA
Davon Godchaux DT 26 MIA TBD $650,484 UFA
Vincent Taylor DT 27 MIA TBD $638,603 UFA
The above are Miami's FA's in 2021, and this is where it gets very interesting on what to do this year IF you believe any of these players should be extended now, rather than waiting to see if their value goes up or down. No one wants to lose VG players for nothing or close to it as we have done tin the past. It is a fine line.

I believe that Godchaux and Taylor have earned 3-4 year extensions in the $12-15M range. Tunsil we have gone over in depth. I would take a shot at extended McMillian now, with a bit of risk.

That's about it. I wait on Tank and Harris to show me. I really like Wilson and Stills but age and expiring contracts say to trade and move on. I actually like Kiko. He reminds me of that LB in "The Replacements" for "just get me the ball."

We are in a VG position cap and FA wise for the next couple of years, giving Grier a lot of room to make this rebuild work. Gase did not leave the cupboards and cap bare. For the first year, we appear to be in good shape.

      Stay tuned.

I agree..As we discussed a while back, if there's any way possible that we can get a pick for him i'd actually like to see Jones gone this year. If not, he'll definitely be gone next year..

I'm really sick of watching Kiko cluelessly chase guys all over the field. He really needs to be shown the door, the sooner the better..Of course you'll have to thoroughly explain to him which door to take...

Aikens is a really good ST'er, but that won't be enough to keep him around if he can't prove he can work his way into the rotation..Though, he's the guy on this list who could be kept if the money is right...

Dolphins announced that Jones was available, and no other team seems to care. Perhaps quitting on your team, no apology, no show for voluntary work outs, being old and WAY overpaid had something to do with it.

Consider that we bought picks for Tannehill leaving a $2m deal for this year, and the same with the Dallas deal for Quinn. We would surely do the same for Jones but, no one cares.

I do not hinder this rebuild, which MANY have waited decades for, because of a VERY BAD deal. McD, McCain and Fitz need to work together as a foundation for our future.

FUCK the quitter Jones, and move on.

What does everyone here think Shula would do?

THIS August, GONE (IMEstimation): Hull, Washington, Mbu, Denney (a GREAT FIn, worthy of the ring of honor.). Denney needs to be added to the Fins ST coaching staff, as the new ST coach's resume makes him (as appears) to be the weak link among the new coaches.

I'm tired Kiko always late on the big tackle. The silly headhunting he did at the end of the season lost it for me.

We actually agree but, it may take a year to move on.

Yeah, I do think the boneheaded plays just look so bad.

I want to be so wrong about this but I have to put Charles Harris at the top of this list because he will be the biggest disappointment especially since TJ Watt was gaining momentum to be our pick there. He's a speed rusher that lacks the explosion and burst to near Cameron Wake status. In fact, I think this regime change closes the door on Harris. He's too small to be a DE and not athletic or versatile enough to play OLB in this system. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong but I don't see it happening for the guy. I could see a trade involving Harris for an offensive lineman before the regular season kicks off.

A young center would be awesome, but I can't see anyone wanting Harris, a guy who couldn't make a team famously bereft of Pass rushing ability. "What, not good enough to stick with the DOLPHINS?????"

Charles Harris s my pick to "Shock This Forum" this year. I base this on his QB pressures as a rookie, and Cam Wake saying he was the most improved player on the team last year, before injury. He will not be this year's forum "Whipping Boy." JMO

I just don't see Harris as anything more than a body out there, and he seems plagued by niggling little injuries. I think Wake was trying to build his confidence, same as JTaylor tried 2 years ago.
JJ Watt...not so great his rookie year. Year 2...sort of all world. As a guy who watches a LOT of SEC football, Mizzou players are soft. Half the socialist student body wants them to drop football. Sorry, Mizzou, this ain't the Big 12. BTW.

And Tannehill is gone, so if not Harris, I put Kilgore.

Grier wanted Watt but, Gase wanted Harris. Harris on average gets 2 pressures on a QB each game, which is not bad but, not the sacks we want.

Once again, they are putting the cart before the horse, probably due to it being early July, and no real football stories to write.
There is no way for any of us (or the reporters) to know what will happen with these players in 2019.
Nobody knows at this point, how any of them will play in the new schemes, or what impressions they will make on the staff...
