  • Campbell- Short Term Gimick or Solution?

Most fans are in love with Campbell and Oklahoma drills, tug of wars and winning black jerseys, etc. Players are having fun and all is good in the Dolphins world after a big win.

My question is how long that will last? Anyone who has played competitive sports in HS or above will know of these kind of tactics to inspire a team, and it does mostly work for a while. How long is the big question.

I'm wondering what these players will be saying and thinking in the next 4 games. It would appear that they cannot be "inspired" on their own, despite being paid multi millions of dollars to do so. Will they be making excuses and pointing fingers after a loss or two or, will they have grown a set to continue playing?

well IMHO the drills should be telling DC what players are fighters and what players are just PLAYing and if dan gets a chance in the future to weed out the weak PLAYERS.
but for now you hope that miami has more fighters than PLAYERS!

Freak, I think the average age thing is misleading. A LOT of those young guys aren't starters, the ones that do start are starting due to injuries. The team was partially gutted during the off season. I believe the 2015 draft was basically a bust. When a guy like turner plays rather than Douglas, and a significant # of the past 3 drafts were busts, I'd say it's not the so called "Youth" of the Fins, it's the high # of mediocre to average youth on the team that is the issue. The Fins have a VERY weak bunch of reserves, compared to the top teams in the NFL. The draft is still elusive to the Dolphins FO, though admittedly there have been some bulls-eyes like Landry, and as it appears Mathews, Sims, and a few others . Not counting the Pouncey draft, etc. Think about Ireland's last draft. It has to be the worst in nearly a decade.

Tannehill 27 - Miller 24 - Ajayi 22 - Williams 23 - Landry 22 - Parker 22 - Stills 23 - Matthews 26 - Albert 30 - James 23 - Turner 24 - Pouncey 26 - Sims 24 - Douglas 23 - Thomas 25................That is just the offense. Tannehill and Albert throw off the bell-curve a bit but as you can see this IS a young offense. The defense is the same as the offense, with Jones, Suh and McCain being the ones who throw the numbers off a tiny bit but for the most part you see a lot of 22's, 23's and 24's on the team, and they are starters. This is a young team and sometimes that is a great thing, as long as the team has a coach that knows how to keep these "youngsters" in check.

The confidence can go a long way. Many times the top teams ride that feeling that they are too good to lose, all the way to the top. Can these guys achieve that level? Only time will tell. One thing for certain, October has been far more interesting than September was!

Campbell is a breath of freshness. Unlike PhilbinCohle gimick dance which broke a world record for longest( 4years) without success.

This seems like a "no harm, no foul" thing...to quote the late, great Chick Hearn. At worst, it will be a lot more interesting, and educational as we'll find out whether Tanny has the stones MENTALLY to steer the offense, whether the last draft was as ordinary as it appears to be, and whether it was the coach, or a serious overestimation of the Fins talent level. If Campbell can get the Fins to 9 wins after the poor start, AND if the Fins look good, win or lose, then it needs to be a Campbell coached team, the usual 3 years with options. If some of these wins come against AFC East rivals., even better.

            Exactly!
IF Campbell can get the team to go 8-4 as a HC, with the schedule we face, he more than deserves to be the HC! I'm hoping that the team agrees, and plays toward that goal!

If, for whatever reason even with Campbell's Fins going 7-5 Ross decides to be a star f***** and go for a "Big name" coach, I'd hope UM would then look at Canpbell, though I doubt he'd want to coach games in the same stadium for even less fans. Talk about a weird situation. Not sure the Oklahoma drill is even allowed in college, though Lord knows, UM needs to toughen up. Either Swayze is the worst conditioning coach in college football, or the Cane players are injury prone. Apologies for the off topic.

Dolphins win by 7-10 points, holding on after another quick start, though not as quick. Maybe 24-17 Dolphins. Tanny has a so so day, Watt slaps down a few of his passes, but the Dolphins special teams come up big. My .02.

Campbell's days as a Dolphin TE coach are over, after we succeed, he will be a HC somewhere next year...

IMA, contact the admin, they should still be able to "credit" you for your phinatics posts... They did that for most of us in the first month...

We face a TOUGH schedule! (One of the toughest any team has)
Texans today, Pats in Foxboro on Thursday, then trips to Buffalo and Philly, before the next home game against Dallas, and another road game to New Jersey. If we can win 3 of those 6 games, we should seriously retain Campbell...
