  • Dolphins Trade for Josh Rosen

Well. They made the move. First we traded down in the 2nd rd with the Saints, then traded that pick for Rosen. We also received a 2nd rd pick next year.
I love the move. Low cost, low risk. And if he is bad then we can pick up s QB next year or the next. He could also elevate and be a solid starter.
I think he has as much potential as any QB in this draft. Clearly many teams passed on Haskins as well. In my opinion we got 2 #1 picks.

I think we should let him start from the get go, so that we find out what we have. If he proves himself to be a franchise QB then we don't need to worry about a QB next draft.

I agree in starting Rosen if he is clearly better than the old man.

it could turn out to be a good move and i'll admit i haven't seen much of Rosen, but I would have preferred to keep bolstering the offensive and defensive lines with as many picks as possible. We have so many holes up front. we need our QB to be the leader of the team.

Rosen MIGHT not turn out to be the |elite starting QB" we want, but it was a wise move to get gin for the price...
He is a better choice than any QB of this year's draft class!

Considering that i won't know one name called today, and no player is ever a guaranty, and i trust coaches coming out of NE coaching tree, I'll take the risk with Rosen here. We might have thirty picks next year and we will see some trading for veterans during the summer with all that ammunition.

No way should they "let him" start. I have no issue with this trade, and I would like to see him start, but he must earn it. Come in, work hard and beat out Fitzmagic.

As I posted elsewhere, they are hoping to catch lightening in a bottle with a guy the Cards were BEGGING teams to take off their hands.

People keep talking about his "valve". Well, his value was artificially inflated to start with based solely on the idiots in AZ pumping 3 picks into him to make him a Top 10 pick when he wasn't going to go in the Top 10 in 2018 to start with. Now, we pumped 2 more picks into him in some BS "Oh yeah, Arizona? Hold my beer and watch this!" scenario.

I get that hope springs eternal and that some think this guy is going to find some magic pixie dust on the flight from AZ to FL, but we didn't need Rosen to start with as we're not trying to compete for playoffs this year nor next, but try to implement new schemes and players and build for 2021/22.

All this did was muddy the waters and 2 waste picks we could've used elsewhere. We had 3 QBs already to go into the season with and could've drafted another guy in the 3rd or 4th to piss down his own leg like Rosen did last year, as he didn't show shit in AZ but that he's not Lamar Jackson throwing the football bad.

1st round QBs drafted by their own teams only have about a 40~ish % chance of success. Taking some other teams cast off and that number drops to a 3rd or 4th round pick percentage.

Personally, I'd rather have kept the 2nd and 5th and tried to get Winovich or a better OLman, and take a QB today that's not controversial and who can come in with no baggage.

From my POV, we spent 2 picks on a guy who's going to end up a backup and who also gets to watch his personal history repeat itself when we draft a 1st round QB again next year.

Aqua, my feelings run pretty close to what Cuch is saying and I'm hoping Rosen proves us BOTH wrong. Time will tell.

Cuch usually I agree with you, but not this time. The Cards moving on from Rosen had nothing to do with him. Kingsbury was going to take Murray no matter who they had. Rosen played for the worst team in the league that changed O Cordinators mid year. Add to that many QBs have rocky rookie years then improve dramatically. Also remember the Dolphins have been studying him for weeks. They must have done extensive film work, discussions with players and others in the league. They see something. I saw the Cards play a couple times and I didnt see a guy playing badly, I saw a team trying to ride a rookie QB like a Marino or Elway and asking too much from him. Hes not that kind of QB. I like his arm, his intellect, and his attitude. He may not work out. But it's not a bad move. And you say you would rather have the two picks. You forgot we get their 2nd rd next year. So what did really lose for a shot the guy could be something?

I'm all for investing resources into the position, but we bailed them out and gave up too much IMO. We basically drafted Wilkins and some bodies and gave up the chance to draft some starters so could take a future backup who likely doesn't even beat out Fitzy...

No auto start, he must compete. If he cant beat an older journeyman QB, then we move on and go back to the QB draft. That would be real tuff for him given what just happened in AZ, but if he doesnt like it he can go back to a Tennis career, or even try a throwback retro porn career with that 70s pornstar mustache going on.

I did read up on his tennis which makes him look even more so a rich spoiled kid with sweater around his neck sipping martinis tableside in a tennis court hehe.

Guess who FINALLY has a POSITIVE outlook. MEEEEEEEEE.
Marino retired in 2000. We had 2 average QBs in Feidler and Tanny that cost us rebuilding and no other teams coveted or respected. Griese did not get a fair chance even though he beat out Feidler in camp. We had a brief flirt with Henne and I got the stupid Jersey to prove it. AND the biggest blunder in Dolphin's history Crapepper over Brees. Rosen is finally a real effort at bringing in a QB.

Neither those QBs cost us rebuilding. That was the FO guys refusing to invest more resources in the position. If you want to blame any one player, that should be Matt Moore.

Rosen is a wish and a hope that we get that lightening in the bottle.

This Dolphins draft EXCLUDING WILKINS is making me profoundly sad. What a disappointing draft, with Miami unable to fill RT, DE or CB. Hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

The off season basically boils down to Christian Wilkins and a bunch of scratch-offs. It’s ok. It’s a process.

I liked the Isaiah Prince pick, and hope he shoes that he was better than his draft selection. I was never a fan of James, so if Prince can make the starting lineup, I'm happy.

Agreed... we made the best of what we had to work with after the Rosen trade. As I posted yesterday in the other threads, ideally, we hit on some of these guys.

Based on how terrible he was in AZ, I'll be shocked if he can beat out Fitz... Most likely they throw him a bone as a start after the first qtr of the season is over.

Cuch, its elusive, j think you are forming an opinion on Rosen. Can you just come right out and say whether you think he is a good QB ? ;-)

Lol... I wasn't impressed with him in college or AZ. QBs usually take one of their biggest leaps in play in years two. Hopefully, he proves my skepticism wrong and his own history a false flag and can play well enough to stop us from drafting another QB. Odds are against him, but we'll see. ;-)
