  • The Ridiculously Mad early Miami Dolphins mock draft - 3rd rounds

To be honest, I got no idea who the coach will be in Miami. What I do know, is that this draft isn’t the year to draft a franchise QB. Next year, there is already two top prospect Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert. It will take another two years for the Trevor Lawrence – the freshman QB that just schooled Nick Saban to enter the draft.

The right decision for this upcoming draft is to focus on the defense. The Dolphins have the rawest talent on that side of the ball, as they have used two first round draft picks (Harris and Fitz), two second round picks (Howard and McMillian) and one third round pick (Baker) in the past two drafts on that side of the ball. It would be ideal to continue that focus during the rebuilding era.

With that in mind, here is how the draft might unfold:

1st round – 13th overall: Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson

It would be ideal to continue that focus during the rebuilding era.

With that in mind, here is how the draft might unfold:

1st round – 13th overall: Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson

    · Wilkins was a beast during the national championship game, finishing with a sack, and owning the line of scrimmage not only against the pass but more importantly the run. The Dolphins might have some interesting prospects in Vincent Taylor and Davon Godchaux, but Wilkins is in a league of his own. Wilkins would be the middle man for the Dolphins for the next 5 years, which makes life a little easier for their Linebackers.

    2nd round – 48th overall: Bryon Murphy – CB – Huskies

    · Xavien Howard is a legit lock down cornerback. On the other side of the field, there is no option. Bobby McCain and Minkah Fitzpatrick are not outside cornerbacks, they are better situated for the nickel. The Dolphins can’t cut Reshad Jones or TJ McDonald as it doesn’t make sense from a cap perspective, as such there really isn’t an ideal solution or position for Minkah, but he needs to be on the field. If either of those safeties are traded, which would make the most sense, but hard to imagine, then Minkah would be in the backfield.

    · Back to the pick, Bryon Murphy is a legit corner. I wanted the Dolphins to look at Greedy in the first round (the best cornerback in this draft class, but he won’t be available, when the Dolphins are on the clock), enter Murphy. This kid has the potential to be amazing. Legit speed, amazing shadowing and everything you want opposite Howard.

    3rd round – 78th overall – Joe Jackson – DE – Miami

    · Here is what know, Cam Wake – gone. Alan Branch – gone. Robert Quinn – gone. All are 100% cap casualties, and it make sense. Charles Harris needs to start full-time to see what the Dolphins actually have. Pairing him Joe Jackson would be amazing. I love everything about Jackson game tape. He loves to rush the passer and is great against the run, and he is from the “U” – match made in heaven.

The 4th to 7th round selections are too early to predict currently. As the draft get’s closer, I’ll share my thoughts, but for now, taking these three players with your first three picks make the most sense.

I’d be okay with that draft. Makes sense. Which is why they won’t do it. I’m getting very cynical regarding this FO.
    Can we sign this guy?

I like the first pick of Wilkins. I don't think Murphy will be there in the second round. If he isn't then I would either take the best corner or interior o-lineman available. Then in the third round I would take the QB Ryan finley.

The Mad, Mad World of Bahamas & Kalik.

The "Sane So Be" has to wait for a HC and to know if we play a 4-3 or 3-4. In the meantime, last year I targeted Fitz with our #1, and he was projected at #5 at the time, no way would he be there but, he was. This year, I do the same with Greedy, who is also projected at #5. Will lightening strike twice?

Add a top CB, everyone goes back to where they belong and we have a VG secondary. I include trading Jones.

Maybe a 2nd for Josh Rosen? its been thrown out there that they may want a different QB.

Do you think the Cardinals might draft Haskins and look to trade Rosen? If they did I would give them a 2nd for Rosen.

We're losing our second for tampering

Based on what? Other teams have interviewed coaches and coordinators who are on other teams staff and not been accused of tampering.

Even if we do hire Flores, I am not really excited about it and if we lose a second round pick to boot then Ross needs to go.
