  • Rank our needs

This is how I would rank them.

QB - I just don't believe that Tannehill will ever get any better. i believe what you see is what you get. I also believe that a QB with better pocket awareness could make our o-line look better. Its still not good but I see QB's under pressure in other games all the time and they manage to evade it and buy more time where as Tannehill simply cannot do this and his lack of accuracy throwing downfield is well documented. I just don't believe that the position comes naturally to him and that its a struggle which is why he is so inconsistent. If it were up to me i would draft a QB in the early rounds next year.

LB Jenkins and Misi are decent but we don't have any playmakers or difference makers. I think a really good MLB would do wonders for our defense.

DB Grimes is getting older and Taylor has been a disappointment and McCain is playing out of his comfort zone which is in the slot. We will probably invest an early round draft pick on a DB.

OG Our OG's are terrible. Thomas stinks and Douglas has not been much better. Turner must be a bust since he can't get on the field.

DE Wake and OV haven't done squat so far this season. Wake is getting older and OV is a free agent. We might have two different starting DE's next year. Shelby and Fede and merely backups. 1 sack in 4 games is very disturbing and that was by Jordan Phillipps.

FS Aikens and Thomas are not starting caliber FS's in the NFL.

RB Miller is a finesse back and i have noticed he does not have good change of direction ability. He can basically run fast in a straight line but he has no elusiveness or power. I would not resign him. We have Ajayi and I would draft another RB.

We have so many needs. We are basically in rebuilding mode again. It seems like we constantly keep rebuilding only to achieve mediocrity.

All except QB. Start with DB, OG and a stud Linebacker and we are right back into the thick of things.
Just frolic and live in the now like Dolphins and Man's best friend.

ILB - Primary problem with this defense. No playmakers at LB.
FS - We literary have nothing back there at Safety when Reshad Jones comes up to be a 4th LB.
CB - Grimes is either resigned or cut, but he's old and getting injury prone. We have no other viable starters on the perimeter.
OG - We have the worst ranked Guard tandem in all of the NFL.
DE - OV is likely gone and not a playmaker. Wake is old and getting injury prone.
OT - Albert is injury prone and James is average at best.

As cuch mentioned we have the worst Guard tandem in the league, so even though our LBs are god-awful i have to list Guard & Guard ahead of LB, LB and maybe LB..Our secondary outside of Reshad blows (Man, i'd give anything for an Ed Reed or Polamalu type playmaking FS, too bad we've never had a chance at a guy like Earl Thomas) and we need a banger at RB...If we're gonna roll the dice on RT @ QB, it's an absolute must to develop a strong running game and a top 5 D,, pretty tall order i know, but it is what it is!

I think a part of the problem is the Guards are the schemes and coaching. Philbin and Lazor has done this team no favors to this point. Hoping to see Billy Turner get a shot at playing somewhere and that we change up the protection and go more to man blocking.

Still, we'd get more opps on offense if the defense could GTFO the field. This is why I have ILB as our #1 need. Agree on your other points. We're doing ok in pass defense ONLY because teams are running all over us currently.

While it'd be nice to blame everything on schemes & coaching, i'm worried that our guys just flat-out suck...

If Albert is healthy then LT is further down on the list but much like some other aging players we have we will need a new LT in the near future.

Left Tackle is HIGH on my list. I don't trust that Albert can stay healthy. I would never want the Dolphins to have an injury prone player at such an important position, especially since they have no replacements that can come in and even do a mediocre job and filling in for him.

It will be interesting to see how well Albert performs for the rest of the season. Even if we keep him next year which we almost have to since we have such salary cap restraints we need to find a better backup OT. Jason Fox is not good enough.

I think its likely that we part ways with either Albert or Grimes next year. It will probably come down to how each performs for the remainder of the season.

Interesting call on LT. I would sit Albert for at least 8 games and probably for the rest of the year. Give him a year to heal up his whole body. Accept that the season is a disaster and not just a bump in the road. Look to 2016 with great wisdom. Excellent receivers, an excellent TE, a very promising young RB, two very solid OTs, a very good Center and an up and comer at RG will carry us into 2016. Until we get a real blocking scheme, who knows how good Billy Turner really is. You know, I could live with Campbell as HC but don't think it's realistic with all of the other necessary changes to come. So, I'd say our needs go:
                  Offense:
                  1) A new blocking scheme (Every OG we've had under Philbin has really been the worst OG ever?)
                  2) An NFL ready OC
                  3) OG
                  4) A Fullback
                  5) It will take succeeding in the run game and at the line of scrimmage to make it clear a QB change is necessary so I'll make a change at QB #5.
                  Defense:
                  1) An NFL ready DC
                  2) A MLB that can fill holes, stick and command a squadron of fire eaters.
                  3) A #1 CB
                  4) A free Safety (Aiken is a big disappointment so far)
                  5) An OLB
                  6) Get Mike Hull up onto the active 53, the one proven wrap up tackler and sideline to sideline player on the defense. It only took this staff four years to realize Rishard Matthews' ability and value to the team.

                    I have the same positions, just in a different order;

                    1. CB - I list this slightly higher than LT because at least Albert is under contract and when healthy it's not an issue. Outside of Grimes it doesn't seem there is another starting quality CB on this team and not sure Grimes will be back next year. There are some very good CB's that should be available if all or most of the under class men come out.

                    2. OT - As mentioned above when Albert is healthy the position is fine, but he's hurt often. I would like to see Turner moved from guard to tackle and play where his skill set fits him best.

                    3. DE - Simply put Wake is not what he was. Age seemed to have caught him last year and definitely kicking his butt this year. OV has always been overrated. I like Shelby and Fede but not sure either can be a top pass rushing type of guy. I would like to see what McCain does at DE. I think he needs to put on about 15 lbs.

                    4. FS - We absolutely need a an upgrade but how much can you fix at once?

                    5. LB - finding a lb should be much easier than it has been. I am not sure why it seems every other team can find one but Miami can't. Jenkins is solid but flaws in his game. Misi is solid but not a play maker. LB should be one of the easiest positions to find in the middle rounds...but not for Miami...uhggggg

                    6. OG - I really think changing in the philosophy of the line will help this out. Douglas can be a beast, but you have to take him off the leash. As with LB, this should be an easy find.

                    7. FB - need to have some sort of power running game.

It shouldn't be has hard as it's been to both find OGs or LBs for us. Of course, it doesn't help when we trade away guys who end up being studs at those positions elsewhere and we can't the guys on the rosters in positions to win...
