  • Dan Campbell?

First let me say i love Dan Campbell, he's a tough no-nonsense S.O.B. who i loved as an NFL TE & as our TE's Coach (He was great on Hard Knocks)..but i do have to say to be promoted to interim HC surprises the hell outta me. I'm sure interim means exactly that and Tannenbaum/Ross probably wouldn't give him the full-time job even if he were to have a super-strong showing to finish the season, Ross i think will be looking for a name, a BIG name!

Here's what Omar says about it:
    Omar Kelly ✔ @OmarKelly

RT @MattyDolphinz what's your take on Campbell as the selection for interim HC? > He's clearly Miami's top assistant. BUT is he ready?

Dan Campbell is a great communicator. He's a good teacher. His units always got better. But what has he ran throughout his life.I don't know

But Dan Campbell is clearly Miami's biggest rising star. They just put him in the microwave and pressed START

Interesting that someone in the organization has watched guys leave repeatedly each year and succeed elsewhere and decided not to let Campbell be the next Bowles... doubt that was Ross and it certainly wasn't Philbin.

My only thought is this, Philbin and Coyle were both so bad that cardboard cutouts would not have been a dropoff from them so what have we got to lose here? I think the season is already lost so all I care about is that we start moving in the right direction and this was a giant step.
While it takes two to have an argument, it only takes one to walk away.

I agree, but i'm not saying there's anything to lose by making the move other than ultimately a good position coach. Campbell doesn't stand a chance of becoming our next 'real' HC, zero IMO..So, just as with the Todd Bowles situation we'll ultimately lose a really good position coach as well when the new staff is brought in..Sometimes a new HC will keep a strong position coach but i'm just not sure Campbell will stick around at that point...

Surely the way Bowles team is performing this year will NOT go unnoticed by the owner who COULD have had that coach here, and possibly been WINNING the past 3 years...

Point taken bud but with a new coach being needed anyone else who took the position might decide to get rid of Campbell anyway. At least now he MAY have a chance and might even turn out to be a decent HC. We'll see.

Exactly. Like I said a cardboard cutout would not be a dropoff.

Dan Campbell is a rockstar of a coach! Being a HC is a different animal but as a coach who connects and gets it Campbell is a STUD!

FRom what Mando said on NFL Radio is that the FO believes Campbell will be a HC in the NFL and while he may be inexperienced he has all the makings of a HC...Maybe he is, but this almost seems like setting him up for 2016 ala Jason Garrett in Dallas...

According to Barry Jackson, Campbell has authority to fire Coyle if he chooses. Hopefully he does...If he doesn't one strike against him in my book...

We'll see just how ready Campbell is in the next 48 hrs as I'm hearing he is the one that will decide who on the coaching staff stays or goes. IF he decided to keep Coyles then it will say a lot about whether or not he's ready to be a HC. If he cans Coyles then I would say he's headed in the right direction. I don't know a ton about him, but I will say he was easily my favorite coach when watching Hard Knocks. He's intense, which we all know this team needs, and he seemed to relate to the players very well. At this point I'm fine giving him the opportunity, and if he shows he can turn this around to some extent I'd be fine with him as our future HC. But again, it starts now, he needs to see and acknowledge the issues with this defense.

As for Lazor, I'm actually hoping he stays. I think he has been handcuffed by Philbin to be honest. I also think if he stays we'll see what he brings to the table. Last years offense wasn't terrible and we added some good pieces (except OLINE!).. Hopefully if we get a healthy Albert back he'll be able to put more trust in the oline and open up some of the offense.

Campbell's press conference is live on ESPN.

He just said they are going to re-evaluate the front 5 on both the DL and OL as that's where it all starts. Sounds like he ain't happy with either. Good.
