  • Insider Buzz: Ross Advisors Pushing Coaching Change, Philbin Firing 'Inevitable'

Following a 27-14 loss to the New York Jets in London, the Miami Dolphins are now 1-3, leading many to wonder about the future of Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin, and how much longer he may be in South Beach.
How soon could a decision be made? Is Philbin's position with the Dolphins safe?

Clueless Joe's firing IS inevitable..the big question is the 'when' part...I still think Ross may ax Coyle & keep Philbin 'til either late in the season or 'til seasons end...I am however starting to believe if he were to give both the ax now, he might promote Rizzi to interim,, we shall see...

Schefter Tweeted that "as of last night the Dolphins were preparing to fire head coach Joe Philbin, per league sources..."

I also saw someone say Dan Campbell is the most likely to replace him

I love Dan Campbell, but with zero HC experience at any level and minimal coaching experience period, i don't see it..Still think Rizzi's the guy if they go that route...

Ross is the only one who can fire him, but Tannenbaum as the new VPO will probably make the decisions from here on out on the interim HC and the LT HC replacement.

Rizzi has previous HC experience from college. He also coaches the ST and knows all the young guys and most of the vets as they all do time on ST. If we promote from within, he's a likely candidate. Don't see Campbell getting the gig as he lacks coaching experience outside of TE's.

All of these guys have assistants, so if it's Rizzi, his assistant takes over ST. If Philbin is canned, Coyles likely is as well and that would probably mean the LB's coach moves up into the DC role.

What really sucks is that we lost Kacy Rodgers to the jets last offseason. He'd have made a good DC for us. Out DL has been a disaster since Kacy left...
