  • Free Agent targets next year

LB Keenan Robinson - He is one of the better MLB's in the NFL. If the next coaching regime can figure out that Dion Jordan is best suited to play the SAM LB position then we should have a significantly improved unit.

OG Ted Larsen - A quality OG for the Cardinals who is only 28 years old. Heaven knows we can't develop our own OG's.

OT Sam Young - We need a better backup OT than Jason Fox. He played well against us 2 weeks ago.

RB Chris Ivory - That dude is a beast and I want him on my team.

FS Jaiquawn Jarrett - He would be an upgrade over Walt Aikens.

I think those are 5 free agents that we could afford next year. They would improve several weaknesses that we now have. Obviously we can't address all of our needs in free agency. In the draft we can then focus on DB DE QB OG.

Ivory beasts against us. Miller was a 1,000 yard back last year. Still have Ajayi as well.

Jordan will most likely not be an NFL player again.

I hope you're not holding your breath on DJ returning, that guy is done...

I really wanted Ivory the first go-round, he was beast when with the Saints; a punishing back who could do wonders for an anemic offense like ours, but our clueless staff never gets it right...But that being said, FA's are a complete moot point, b/c we take superstars and turn them into yesterday's news - Until we get a whole new staff that actually knows what they're doing & are able to somehow change the culture of losing that's become ingrained into us, we could sign anybody & everybody and it wouldn't change a thing...

Miami will have some cap issues next year. Don't expect big spending.

I'd like to see Joe put up some cap options. There are a lot of Vets making big bucks that may not be on the team next year, starting with Grimes ($9.5m if on the roster, and cost $3m to release him) and Wake ($9.8m on the roster and $1.4M if released).

Wake will definitely be gone...Hell, i know he's been hurt but the way he's been playing he may as well hitch a ride out with Clueless & Company...Grimes will either restructure or be gone as well, he's damn good but not 9.5 mill. good...

Projecting ahead, we will be roughly $5M over next year's cap but, have all kinds of options to deal with that overage. Here's a listing of some of the potential savings to start with.

Jordan- Unless there is a Miraculous Resurrection, he will be gone and save us $3M
Jennings- Would cost $5.5M or save $4M. Due to age and money cannot imagine keeping him.

Cameron- Would cost $9.5M or save $7.5M. If he plays well, we give him a new deal which should cost around $4M first year, saving $5.5M or, move on and save $7.5M..

With these three moves, in addition to the expected roll over of $7-8M, it totals at least $20M, which leaves us $15M.

Re-signing OV and Miller IMO will cost around $7-8M their first year with signing bonus, etc IF we want to do that, we would still have enough for Shelby, back up QB, the draft @ about $3M.

This is Option #1. IF this team wins a playoff game, and we want to keep the band together, we can do so with making very few moves.

          .Option #2

Albert- Cost $10M or. save $5M. No idea what to expect from him this year.

Wake- Cost $9.8M or, save $8.4M. I think he is good at a high level for two years but, who knows.

Grimes- Cost $9.5M or, save $6.5M. Hoping he can maintain for two year but again, who knows.

Misi- Cost $4.9M or, save $3.7M. Injuries and young LB's likely make him expendable.

Fox- Cost $1.5M or, save $1.5M. Don't see us keeping him.

That's $25M in cap savings in addition to the rest to make moves, depending on how these players play.

Overall, the team has nothing but options with next year's salary cap and none are any reason for Phan's concern. We are in good shape

This was a copy and paste from before our first game. Too hung over to do it again from scratch. LOL

I would fully expect new coaches to move Wake, Grimes, Albert, and Jennings. We could get a little something back in picks from teams looking to add a player for a year as the money would be discounted with Miami taking the bonus hit. The others listed above are questionable depending on fitting in to new schemes.

We could have $40M to go shopping with but, with many holes to fill.

I cannot see us contending for 2-3 years.

WE could lose all 4, and get what we can....

Grimes embarrassed himself yesterday, Wake hasn't panned out, Fat Albert watches the game on the bench, and Jennings drops more than he catches...

I think they should look to move any of the older Vets. I would absolutely move Wake, Grimes, Vernon, Jennings, Miller and Albert for the right price.

Hell, may as well go with a total team-enema..put everyone on the block! We should see what Dallas would be willing to give us for Tannehill as they are a viable SB contender in serious trouble without Romo (I know this isn't possible, since we just signed RT to that fat contract, no way Dallas could afford two HUGE QB salaries, though they seem to be pretty good at circumventing the rules!)

To be honest with some of the QB's coming out next year I would listen if someone was interested in Tannehill.

I would trade Tannehill in a heartbeat..I'm sorry but all excuses aside, i just don't see 'IT' in this kid...

I completely agree with that, but I do think you can win with him. There are only a handfull of QB's that has that "IT" factor, but doesn't mean you can't win with others.
