  • Its even worse than I thought

I really thought we would at least compete today. We continue to start games with no energy and intensity. We showed some signs of life in the 4th quarter but when we had a chance to get back in the game we failed again as usual.

We have the worst rushing offense and the worst rushing defense in the NFL. If that is not a sign of how soft of a team we are then I don't know what is.

Tanehill continues to regress. He simply will never be a good QB. He has had 52 starts and I see no signs of him getting any better. He can look decent at times but he is incapable of showing any consistency. 14.5 points per game is pathetic.

I seriously think we might go 1-15 this season especially if we lose the next 2 games which we probably will. With the way this team is playing we will not beat either the Titans or the Texans. Then after the 3 game road trip this team will really give up so if you think this is ugly, you ain't seen nothing yet.

I think Philbin will be fired after we are embarrassed by the Pats in NE. It really won't make a difference since this is a lost season anyway.

Where you were ranting about Philbin, Suh, and Tannehill. There are also already other threads on all 3 as well...

Yes I said those three were the worst offseason moves in another thread. In this thread I was talking about the general state of the team and how bad it is.

We're down to a 12 game season at this point and have to win 8 out of 12 and possibly 9 game to reach the playoffs as we're now 1-3.

            Yeah, it's bad.

More so because there is some real talent on this team and it's being wasted. As for the rushing offense - we rushed 11 times; 8 times from the backs, Miller and Gray.

If you're looking at something like 44 passes to 11 rushes on face value, then yes, you're correct. But what Philbin and Lazor are doing is using the short passing game to make up for a lack of true rush attempts from behind the LOS. They know they can't get consistent run blocking and have no confidence in their OL.

They also aren't trying to push the ball down the field consistently because they know that the OL is terrible at Guard and below average at both Tackle spots. Tannehill's accuracy hasn't been good these first 4 games and he hasn't been scrambling or running more when he has chances. Maybe the ankle or back injuries that were reported the past couple weeks are affecting him, but he's been off and he isn't running the option this season either.

Hoping for MUCH improvement across the board after the BYE.

I think the word playoffs should not even be in our vocabulary for the rest of this season. We just lost 2 divisional home games in embarrassing fashion. I don't even think we will win a divisional game this season. We will be fortunate to win 3 games. We are a bottom 5 team in the NFL.

The line play on both sides of the line of scrimmage is absolutely horrific. This zone blocking scheme our o-line employs is pathetic. They don't create any holes for the running backs and they can't protect Tannehill.

The D-line is no better. We have to go back to the late 80s to see a Dolphins run defense this pathetic. I know our LB corps is not good but I place even more of the blame on the D-line. They are getting gashed. I watch other games and I see defenders swarming to the ball. Our defense looks like they are playing in slow motion. The defense also plays a role in our offense having to abandon the run because the defense is not keeping us in the game.

I am done with Tannehill. I was patient with him for 3 years but its over. He simply will never be any good. He doesn't have the instincts for the position. He does not read the field well and he is terribly inaccurate with throws down field. He doesn't even give the receiver a chance to catch the ball when he throws downfield. Even when he does have time to throw he stares down receivers and does not read the field well. I actually think he was better in Shermans offense. Lazors offense stinks.

I really don't expect to see any improvement after the bye week. I expect to see the same team that we saw for the first 4 games.

Wow, I can't argue with much of that if any. The only thing I think we will see different is a team who plays with a lot more passion once Philbin/ Coyle are gone.

We embarrassed the Pats opening game last season beating them 33-20. The next week the Bills beat us 20-9. The Pats beat us 41-13 the next matchup and we beat the Bills 22-9. We also split with the jets.

I don't put too much stock into the meaning of winning or losing division games per se - only if we should beat the teams that we should beat. Right now we're losing to teams that we should be beating.

I think ''Lazor's offense'' would look vastly different if he weren't having to adopt Philbin's personal philosophies into it. Sherman openly complained about Philbin insisting on more passing and less running.
Philbin refuses to employ a FB and refuses to run a power game. We haven't had a FB (Lane) or true blocking TE (Fasano) since Sherman was here.

The OLine is expensive and still sucks. We have 3 first round picks on the OL (Albert, Pouncey, James) and have wasted countless other picks and FAs on it. So far the FAs are better than the draft picks except for Pouncey.

The zone blocking system we run is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Our Quarterback is an imbecile that continues to throw his one yard passes on 3rd and 7's, throws every vertical pass five yards past his receiver and every end zone pass out of bounds, does nothing to help his linemen. The defense was left with one real LB who is still green (Jenkins), one CB, one Safety and defensive linemen not allowed to penetrate. Front office blew it and coaches make it worse.
