  • Philbin and Coyle Safe For Now.....

From The Bleacher Report just now......

Dolphins coach Joe Philbin isn't worried about his job security after meeting with owner Stephen Ross following the team's third straight loss on Sunday.

"No, not at all," Philbin told reporters in London after a 27-14 loss to the New York Jets at Wembley Stadium. "I'm worried about getting this team straightened out and fixed and getting our team ready to play the Tennessee Titans."

The Dolphins (1-3) have been outscored 91-48 during their losing streak.
Future meetings with the owner likely will happen during the upcoming bye week for Philbin when he returns to Florida. The Dolphins have looked ill-prepared and trailed at halftime in each of their four games. Miami also has been outscored 37-3 in first quarters this season, which is a poor reflection on the coaching staff.

"We still can't panic," Philbin said. "It all seems like the walls are closing in on you. We all realize that. So we gotta look at things and be honest about where we are, what we're doing well and what we're not doing well."

Philbin said he plans to keep defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle, who also is on the hot seat. There has been a growing disconnect between players and Coyle's defensive scheme, and Philbin confirmed Sunday that players met with Coyle this week to exchange ideas on what could work better.

"It wasn't contentious. We had a defensive meeting on Monday and we talked about things," Philbin said. "Players talked. Coaches talked. He met individually with different groups and got some feedback and some input."

And still, no change in performance. Miami allowed 425 total yards and a season-high 207 rushing yards against the Jets.

Was hoping you meant ''safe'' as in Federal Witness protection under lock and key and away from the team... or trapped under a safe. A big one.

I was so hoping Shane and I were both wrong on this. Crow wouldn't taste as sour as this does.

Fans need to make it clear what they think of this. Completely unacceptable.

So because Philbin said it we believe it? What else is he going to say? I still say he's gone tomorrow or Tuesday latest.
        Can we sign this guy?

I pray you're right bud, I really do. Bottom line I don't trust Ross to do what we all know needs to be done. We knew it last year and look how well he listened.

It's not realistic to expect Ross to fire him today. We're not the Raiduhs...

If a change is going to happen in the season, I'd expect it to happen tomorrow and be announced Wed or Thurs.

This is the perfect week to do it if it's going to happen. At a minimum, Coyles should be squeezed out at this point and we get someone aggressive in place to attack offenses.

agree, Ross wasn't doing anything until he slept on it and is back in the states. I do expect some change, and while I think Philbin is safe, Ross will ask him to terminate Coyle. If Philbin refuses to do so then he will be gone.

Florio is reporting that the team is publicly saying they are committed to making things better in the locker room - whatever that means. Sounds like the players are revolting against Philbin and Coyles...

Someone call the PD dept and get Miko's opinion.

I'll start heating up the crow and eat it with the biggest damn smile you ever saw if he gets fired.

Not a matter of IF, but when at this point. Hoping we part ways this week. These guys all watch the sports channels and read the sites. They know what's up. I'm sure Tbaum already knows who is available to replace both Philbin and Coyles. He'd just need Ross to can Philbin so he could make a move.

And just as I hit “publish” on the last item regarding Dolphins coach Joe Philbin, some new information has surfaced regarding the situation.Per a league source with knowledge of the situation, owner Stephen Ross is now expected to make a decision on Philbin’s job status by Monday. The prior thinking was that Ross would be [more]

The OL can't block, the DL can't stop the run or get a sack, and if you do get a sack you are inactive, the OC can't call a decent game to play agains a peewee team, and the DC...well where do I start...

No one on the D can tackle for crap....

The only, I mean only player I like right now, well we all know who he is, maybe the WR Coach is good, that's it.....

Maybe the rest of the NFL can stop having Dolphin for Sunday dinner after this.
