  • Dolphins Salary Cap Update

Miami Dolphins salary cap, contracts, bonus money, dead money, and cap savings for every player

I do check other cap sites like Sportec but, use OTC because they are as good or better and Jason, the owner, is a long time Phins Phan.

We are around $11-12M under the cap for this year. Red Dawn & Company took a well warranted risk on Delmas but, protected the team from injury. He is only getting $400K because of it, losing a Mil now and incentives for the season.

Most teams like to keep $3-4M in reserve for injuries during the season. That leaves us plenty to trade for or sign any good deal which may come available or, roll the cap space to next year.

We are $8M over the projected $150M cap (up $7M) for next year. It is no reason for concern with all kind of options available to the team.

With those cap savings we should be able to sign Mathis wouldn't you think? Even if he is $5M a year we are good on a one year deal for him. Just sayin...

We could easily sign Mathis or just about anyone. Just don't think it is our best move. I would go for an OT or LB but, not an OG. JMO

I am not sure we couldn't do all three. There aren't top dollar LBs and LTs out there. But we could pick up a solid veteran at let's say $2-3M for each on a one year contract and still come back and sign Mathis and be under the cap.

Nice work Joe, if not for you I'd be in total darkness as far as the cap is concerned. Matt I think the problem with Mathis is not the 5 mil plus he wants this year but the fact he's looking for a lot term commitment which I don't believe we are willing to offer.
While it takes two to have an argument, it only takes one to walk away.

No doubt we could and chances are slim to find an OT or LB who is better than what we have. I just like going with the young guys over Mathis this year. I was preaching 2 years ago to trade for him but, not now.

I can't see Mathis getting more than $3-5-4M for one year in guaranteed money.

We have all wanted our team to build through the draft, and play the young guys. I'm enjoying seeing this happen, and think it should continue at OG from what I have seen (not much) and read about our young OG's. IF I thought Mathis was a missing link to get to a SB, I would feel entirely different but, I don't and he isn't.

Someone is going to be desperate enough to give him a 2-3 year deal but I doubt it will be the Phins. We should know this week.
