We've had our sip from the Hope Springs (Wow, that didn't last long!!) and have since crashed back down to reality...From predictions of 6-0 starts, 11-5 records, playoffs & possibly even contending for the division title..it's become abundantly clear after 3 short (short only in actual time as it has felt like an agonizing eternity!!) weeks that this trainwreck of a team has no identity, no leadership, no sense of direction and may have trouble finding ways to win another game. I know that's probably an exaggeration but it's definitely not beyond the realm of possibility..
More likely is this stumbling, bumbling dumpster fire will find a way to squeak out enough wins to ultimately harm rather than help themselves; you've heard of the Patriot Way..Well, this is the Fins way; win not quite enough to make the playoffs but just enough to miss drafting in the upper echelon of prospects coming out..Hell, knowing our luck Clueless Joe will run off a few wins at the end of the year in garbage time to convince Ross to honor his final year of his contract, as despite all our adversity we stuck together and just missed the playoffs by this...much! Not a chance in hell of this happening you say, c'mon man, we're Dolphins fans, you know damn well it could happen! Nothing, other than us playing respectable ball or contending is beyong possibility!
Going back to when the schedule first came out i studied it and thought to myself with all things being equal (same shitty coaching staff, same bitter after taste of seasons past still fresh in my mouth) we would be extremely lucky to win 4 games - After some serious thought while sipping my Aqua & Orange Kool-Aid & viewing life through my Aqua & Orange Goggles i started feeling that funny little emotion called hope that try as we might to keep it locked up tight we always seem to allow it to creep up on us..I wouldn't, couldn't let it happen to me again, i couldn't be stupid enough to fall for the ol' 'this time it'll be different BS' Could i?? Well, ultimately i fell into the trap that we as Fins fan ALWAYS fall into..and i started thinking that maybe, just maybe we actually could win, that we actually had a shot at double-digit wins, that hell, despite all of obvious shortcomings, faults & the owner's blind faith in his pathetic staff, we might even have a legitimate shot at the playoffs..
Well, as i said..that ridiculous hope was extremely short-lived (even for Fins fans) & i thought heading to our 'home' game thousands of miles & a continent away against our hated division rival, who actually made drastic changes to their staff (hiring our one-time cast-off as HC & stealing our best position coach) that it would be a good time to do what our coaching staff has no concept of, and that is to make adjustments..Time to adjust our perspective & our predictions as to how many games this team will win...My gut is telling me that it'll be hard for us to win 4 or 5 more games...Thoughts??
