  • At Least Five More Games of Philbin

Like all of you I would love to see Uncle Fester get canned. But the reality is nothing will be done until second half of the season. Teams just don't fire Head Coaches that early. There are too many instances of teams turning it around. Look at New England last year. After 4 games they were a disaster and everyone was proclaiming the end of the Brady era. So owners tend to see if things come together and gel and adjustments are made. Even if they fired Philbin, they would only promote Lazer or Coyle for the remainder of the season because you can't plug in a whole new coach and system during the season. Since neither Coyle or Lazer is impressing anyone it hardly indicates we would be better off.
If Queasy Fester gets fired it will be at least Thanksgiving or late, and I personally expect it will be the end of the season. So relax...share our pain and suffering and pray for a miracle.

I wouldn't bet on that if I were you. Philbin has had YEARS to make something happen and it obvious to everyone who watched Sunday's game that Philbin has lost this team. They played with no heart or passion. These players do NOT believe in these coaches. They don't believe in Philbin and they certainly don't believe in Coyle. They need to make changes ASAP and FIRE coach Philbin and Coyle. They can promote from within, giving the jobs to other coaches who are unworthy, but at least these coaches wouldn't be so headstrong and they would spark a little life back into this team and get them to at least TRY to play football. I was raised by a mother who taught me "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all", so I guess you guys won't be hearing much from me for the next five weeks. I am so done with this team at this point.
While it takes two to have an argument, it only takes one to walk away.

Oh no you don't. Don't you leave us in this misery alone. Come be angry with the rest of us...DON'T LEAVE ME DOLFAN1 :-)

Not leaving you Bud. I'll still be here to moderate and all, you just wont see me saying much. I'm tired of feeling like I went 15 rounds with the heavy weight champion every damn Monday, and I'm so not interested in adding to all the doom and gloom. You guys are all saying what I feel and I hate it.

I think you are mixing your emotion with business. Everything you say is true, and will cost Joe his job. But firing Philbin won't change the season, it actually just concedes the season. And then what? Coyle? Lazer? Who? Team still has to run after the coach is fired and this is not one of those teams we can point to any unit and say "well our defense is great so let's just elevate the coordinator" like we did with Todd Bowles, We suck every where so there is nothing better in house. Firing Philbin before 8 games just doesn't make sense, and accomplishes nothing but make us pissed off fans feel better because we want someone to pay for our pain. Taking emotions out Joe is here for several more weeks and I believe the end of the year.

Finatic, don't stone me for typing this but................I am not trying to save the season. The season in my opinion is beyond saving. Philbin obviously can't do anything right. There is nobody on staff who can either, which again is Philbin's fault for hiring and/or not having the balls to fire them when he should have. What I want to do is send a message, mediocrity won't be tolerated in Miami. Fire Philbin! Not to save the season but to remove losers who have lost the team. The interim head coach can TRY and get the most of of these players but as long as Coyle's around this defense won't play hard because they don't believe in his ridiculous system. This season is a bust! Let's ride this bust all the way out and get a GREAT draft pick for it. Instead of trying to win 7-8 games to assure that we don't get a quality draft pick who will fill a position of need with a top ranked talent, let's blow this season up and wait for the draft and FINALLY draft a player who can help this team get better.

Dude I want what you want. Would love to have fired him after last seasons late collapse. But what will happen is different. Emotionally I am in sync. Just not the way it works.

Doesn't it worry anyone besides me that Clueless Joe may find a way (some way, some how) to stumble into a few more victories the remainder of the year to have Ross think once again, 'Hey, with all of the injuries and all of the adversity this team has faced, 6-10 is pretty close to average..maybe Joe deserves another year, him being such a nice guy and all...'

If they keep playing like this you must fire Philbin. If it shows the players you really don't give a damn so why should they...

And once again I'm reminded of the motivation speaker from "The Natural" with Robert Redford... "Losing is a disease" the old Philbin'esque guy drones one while everyone tunes him out.

Ross created this mess by not firing him first following the whole Bully-gate BS, then again at the end of last season. Armando has reported that Marino and TBaum both wanted Philbin gone as well, but Ross made him untouchable as Philbin reports directly to him.

Another 5 games under a HC and DC who have clearly lost their players is ridiculous IMO. It's sending a message to the players and fans both that the team is has no leadership and can't decide on how to move forward.

Bit of a conundrum for Ross; i agree that Clueless Joe should be given the boot pronto (The sooner the better in my book!) but i also agree with Finatic, i don't think it's gonna happen within the next few games no matter how terrible we look..

IMO, in Ross's mind it will make him look bad firing a guy after 4 games, especially one he just gave all of his support by rewarding him with a contract extension just a few short months ago (I know the extension means absolutely nothing but IMO, Ross will think it makes him look both stupid & wishy-washy) I think Ross screwed everything up royally by bringing Queasy back for another year & now we're gonna be forced to suffer through it for at least the next month or two...I'm just hoping like hell Tannenbaum was given the control to axe Philbin before then!

SOP for the Dolphins, I wonder if this is some kind of experiment, let's just see how bad we can get and still sell tickets, DA fans will always pay, no matter what I serve them....

If this is an experiment or a game i guess i've been playing along since Day-1...I have gotten smart enough through the years to not waste $$ on them (Haven't bought a single Fins related item in years, cancelled Sunday Ticket years ago & have refused to take a road-trip to watch them play 'til they take this shit as serious as we do) Also i refuse to let this team kill me & ruin my weekends anymore; i take their ineptitude in stride and am almost able to laugh it off these days...

As much as I hope you are wrong about this, I believe you are right (at least to a certain extent). If Ross fires Philbin and Coyle now, he'll look like a bigger idiot than that most believe he already is because he gave Philbin the extension at the end of last year. He will keep Philbin until the end of the season, and fire him then. In the meantime, he'll start a new HC search. With the talent that Miami has, a new good/winning HC may be enticed to come here but will want more control over the team, at least as much control as the GM. No possible new good HC will trust Ross if he fires Philbin after giving him an extension. We'll just have to suffer thru Clueless Joe until late December, then start all over again.

Ross created this mess by not firing him first following the whole Bully-gate BS....Abosolutely!!! This is when the players, IMO lost all respect for Philbin....A big arse non issue gone to PC correct. Anyone wish Incog was here now?

Marino and TBaum both wanted Philbin gone as well....I was unaware that Dan was involved in this organization, if he is I feel bad for him, as every week watching this team play has to remind him of his last game as a Dolphin. I always liked the fire that burned inside Dan, I wish he had more say, as I said, I never knew he was involved.....

What have we got to lose. At least I'll have Philbin post game interview entertainments and a Top Five pick in the draft to look forward to! And a new Coach in January when things are slow for us.
Just frolic and live in the now like Dolphins and Man's best friend.

Dan has an office and is an advisor to the team. For all the good that does considering Ross doesn't listen to anyone other than Philbin and Carl Peterson.

                      If it's me:
                      - I'm putting Jamil Douglas at Left Guard, and Billy Turner either at Left Tackle or Right Guard. Douglas and Turner both played the left side in college and have to be better than Fox and Dallas were yesterday.
                      - Yank Brice McCain off the perimeter and put Taylor back out there, or give Bobby McCain or Tony Lippett or a shot at cornerback. What's to lose? Brice was a nickel before coming here. He cannot play the perimeter.
                      - Start Fede over OV, who has been ineffective and is not setting the edge. Maybe having Fede start over him will motivate OV to get his head and ass wired together.
                      - Misi back to Mike and Chris McCain or Vigil back at SLB.

Just looking for a spark from this under achieving and unmotivated team. Maybe getting some young, hungry and mean players on the field can do that, even if they aren't great in practice or understand WTF Coyles is wanting, because all Coyles really does is confuse the shat out of his players and those watching the team. In the meantime, we're making scrub QBs look like HOF'ers.

I like all of your ideas cuch, unfortunately i think this staff subscribes to the Wanny philosophy of 'If it's broke, why fix it' and 'Let's continue to bang our heads on the same wall expecting different results' Damn, why does my head hurt?!...
