It seems like we always play crappy/ just good enough, when we play a bad team. However, we start off hot and usually play well when playing teams like NE, Denver, etc. Anyone notice that

We self motivate cause lord knows our coaches middle name is sleepy.
Just frolic and live in the now like Dolphins and Man's best friend.

Yep! We never blow out any teams. If a team is great, we rise to the occasion and play well enough to beat them or keep it close. If a team is the worst in the league, we play down to their level and barely beat them, or lose to them. It's bizarre.

Actually, we do blowout teams: I can remember a team everyone thinks is good: San Diego. It was close though; something like 37-0. Would have been 50+,but we had two tds wiped.

This team takes on the persona of the coach. Philbin is just not inspiring.

What are the other teamS that the Dolphins have blown out? You pluralized the word team so you are clearly posting about more than one team. What is the other game or games that you are referring to?

You're right: I didn't think about the plural thing.

He inspires me to yawn and I think that's exactly how the players react to him.

We seem to play at each team's level. I would love to see a blow out once in a while. Hate these....no tired of these nail biters

Not sure what people are considering a "blow out"... I'd consider winning by 2 TDs wins a blowout and we did that several times last season.

We opened the 2014 season blowing out the pats 33-20 and it wasn't that close. The pats didn't score in the 2nd half.
Beat the Raiders 30-14 in a blowout, but the Raiders didn't score a TD to get that close until garbage time.
Beat the Jags 27-13. Again a TD in garbage time by the Jags to get closer.
Beat the Chargers 37-0 in a total annihilation of the Dolts.
Beat the Bills 22-9. FGs were their only offense.

That's 5 blowouts... unless you're looking for college scores of 56-3 or something. lol...

Nice comment. The more I think of it, the more it makes sense that we do play at the opposing team's level in a lot of cases. Look.at GB, Denver, Detroit, and maybe one other good team. We lost by four points or less. Some of those were coaching errors. If we could just look to destroy every team we play; these nail-biters are few.

Thanks P514. I think in a LOT of cases we're just simply out coached. Philbin, Lazor and Coyles are slow to respond or adjust. I think that's why we always seem tenative to start games and gradually improve. There was never a doubt in my mind that we'd beat the Skins as talent trumps all, but we sure make it hard for ourselves. Having key injuries or suspensions going into the past 2 seasons has crippled us as well. Last year it was Pouncey and Jones, then Moreno. This year it was Delmas then rookies Parker and Ajayi. Let's see how we look by game 4.

We came out with the win. With the way we were dominated early, if this was last year, I have to think we lose this game.

Poor play calling on both sides of the ball I think. As for a loss, I think that depends on which half of last season we would have faced them. Injuries wrecked us last year.

I am hoping we get our act together and dominate the Jags and then win in strong fashion against the Bills and Jets. If so, then we would be 4-0 and I would feel like we are on the right track. I also think we need a signature win. Something on the road against a good team. Maybe New England or the Eagles. That would give a much needed confidence boost.

Jags could be just the remedy coming on the relative poor performance of last week. Jags are beat up on both sides of the ball already.

Hopefully Lazor will establish Tannehill's athleticism early in the game and get both Tannehill and Miller into a rhythm. Same for the defense. Agree that a win in convincing fashion would ease a lot of fan angst.
