  • Positives from today

Jarvis Landry came up huge and won the game for us with his crucial punt return for a TD.

Jordan Cameron had a big day catching the ball.

Brent Grimes and Brice McCain both had nice INT's.

The defense shut them out in the 2nd half.

We got a win on the road and at the end of the day thats all that matters.

Positives?? Hmm ok, I'm positive this team did not look like it was ready to play a game that counts and if they don't improve, I'm positive we'll be sitting at home in January again. Loved Landry and Jones today. That's all I got.

        Jarvis Landry is a stud!
        Reshad Jones is a stud!
        Grimes played well.
Jordan Cameron is playing like he did a few years ago. Tannehill has confidence in throwing to him.
        Both new kickers looked good.
That's all that comes to mind.

            We won.
As stated before Landry, the kickers, Jones, Grimes, Cameron. Did I mention we won?

DF called it. He said this would be a much closer game than most of us. Washington may be a dumpster fire but they have some talent. They have a pretty stout front seven and Culiver and Hall are solid CB's.

What scares me is their offensive line is average at best and they manhandled Miami's "great" defensive line for the most part.

OK, sorry didn't mean to hit all negatives...

Landry put this team on his shoulders, my new favorite Dolphin guy played like a beast

Jones was all over the place, thank goodness

Cameron looked like his form from two years ago

The line opened up holes for Miller when Lazor finally decided to run him

As stated, went on the road first game of the season and came out with a win, 1-0 style points don't matter on to Jacksonville.

That's actually a significant point. Miller ran hard when he got the chance. He was effective and could have done well if he'd gotten more carries.
The O line was abysmal though - worse than I expected by far. Washington's D is nothing special....Tannehill better increase his insurance before we play Buffalo because he's going to get killed. It'll be a miracle if he gets out of the game in one piece or with less than 8 sacks....

I loved landry and jones and the fact that this team has such a big window to expand in,lots of room to go up.washington in my opinion doesn't have the room to go up as far. they played as well as they are going to play this year on any consistant basis, just my opinion.

The Redskins just like every NFL team have talent. They have one of the better LT's and C's in the NFL and Scherff is going to be a stud. They have a playmaking TE who torched us today. They also have a very good RB. We were fortunate that they lost Jackson early in the game. Their defense especially their front 7 is solid. Its disappointing that our offense did not have a better showing today but its the first game of the season and we got out of there with a win and thats all that matters.

Actually, in the grand scheme of things it's worth noting both rookie Kickers played well. In a bad game like this, if they'd fallen apart we might well have lost. I think we were incredibly lucky not to.....

                    Good
                    - As most predicted, we won. You take a road win any way you can get it. We're 1-0 and did it in a hostile environment against an emotionally charged team who was playing at home.
                    - Special Teams!!! Wait, what? lol... They were easily the best of the 3 phases today. Kickoff coverage was mostly solid. The rookie kicker and punter were good. Landry had a TD return on a punt. The only negative was James fumbling off himself.
                    - Despite barely having the ball on offense in the first half, the team took over and pulled out a come from behind win starting with Grimes INT.
                    - Grimes had a solid game. He struggled early on in the 1st qtr, but otherwise he was the 'good' Grimes we saw for the first half of last season. His INT gave us momentum and changed the face of the game.
                    - Reshad Jones was about the only other player in the secondary that showed up today. Yeah, he stumbled on the TD pass to Jordan Reed, but otherwise was everywhere.
                    - Landry - we probably don't win without him. He made some clutch catches, got involved in the run game on a nice play, and had we well deserved punt return for a TD.
                    - Other than a couple errant throws, Tannehill delivered some really nice throws as well. For instance, the deep ball to Cameron was dead on.
                    - Miller did a nice job of taking what was there and kept his average above 4 yards even with the shatty OL. He also did a good job on the screen and helped out with pass-pro more than last year.
                    - Matthews had a terrible drop at an inopportune time, but he also made some tough catches and ran a really good route for a TD.
                    - Jordan Cameron sighting!!! He gave fantastic effort on the deep ball catch. He's going to be very very good weapon.
                    - Albert was easily our best OLineman today. That was unexpected as he hasn't played a snap since the Detroit game last year. His one sack was mroe on coverage and Tannehill not getting rid of it.
                    - Jamil Douglas and Mike Pouncey both looked good in space, but struggled otherwise.
                    - Misi was about the only LB worth a damn today. He made some impact hits as well.

We need to stack up as many wins as possible before that rough 3-game road stretch that's waiting for them in late October and early November.

What's important is that Miami won today - in a place we haven't won in since 1984. Was it pretty? Definitely not. Was it similar to some of the games last year? Yep. Is there a chance the coaching staff is holding back the talent on this team? Definitely!!! But still, we're 1-0.

Love your optimism bud but we played a team that was 4-12 last year and two of those wins were against powerhouses Jacksonville and Tennessee. This year they are expected to be a strong front runner for the #1 overall pick in next years draft. We SHOULD have dominated that game from the opening kickoff and we didn't. Had that been any other team we played like that today we'd be sitting at 0-1 so I'm not really on board with all the optimism right now. I'm worried about playing Jax if we don't play better than today and scared to death that the Bills are gonna use us as tackling dummies.

I agree and I posted the Good, Bad, Ugly, etc... in the game thread as I thought this was just a positive thread.

I blame Coyles for the Defense as he completely fkd us over with his BS today. Wish they had canned him after last season. He took Suh, who is the best 3tech DT in the NFL and played him at the 1Tech where Suh was cut-blocked and and double teamed all day. Coyles needs to be called out by his players like he was last year several times starting with the Chiefs game where he had Wake chasing RBs. He pisses me off.
