  • We need a FB

We have no power running game. Thats why we struggle when we are in the red zone. We had first and goal at the 3 yard line in the 3rd quarter today. We know we can't power the ball into the end zone and so we decided to get cute and have Tannehill roll out and he threw the ball for a loss of 7 yards which put us back at the 10 yard line.

Thats just one example of where not being able to pound the ball on the ground has cost us. I know Philbin is stubborn but i feel as though our inability to get crucial yards on the ground is going to cost us dearly.

After Sims went down I was half expected to see Mitchell on Offense.

My fingers are worn out on how many times I've pounded the key board on drafting a true power back..... isn't Miller time lite beer?

YES YES YES!!! If anything put Earl Mitchell in as FB. The Dolphins practiced with Mitchell as FB. We have no power run game. We can run the ball but we CAN'T run the ball when we NEED to. This is a PHILBIN call IMO as not even our HBs are true power runners and I doubt Gray will touch the field because Philbin doesn't like power evidently.

Philbin or Lazor (not sure who) wants to be a finesse team. I hate they they wont (or very rarely) run short yardage with the QB under center. I am not a huge fan of this offense...

I thought of this when I saw Javorsky Lane playing for the Bucs. We haven't had a true FB in some time. However, I do think Ajayi will be a power back and better suited for short yardage if he can ever find the field.

FWIW, last year Miller was 10 of 13 in picking up 3rd or 4th and short, which was top 5 in the NFL. Looking these things up before taking shot at the guy would be a good thing.

I'm not taking a shot at Miller. Hell Miller would benefit the most from a FB and probably would have been 13 of 13. Philbin runs RB by committee and a power back to "compliment" Miller could give us the edge when we need to run and wear down the D. Miller sealed the game last week getting that 1st down, loved it!

Don't worry boys and girls, only seven more weeks until we unleash the beast for the stretch run. The one thing I noticed immediately about Ajayi is how he reads the stretch run better than all of our other RBs. In the preseason, I never saw him get caught from behind by the unblocked backside DL yet he was still able to find a crease, plant his foot and burst up field and we know he's not going down from any arm tackles.

Breaking news! Dolphins in discussions to sign on a FB who also happens to be one of Miami's most beloved sons. Now the way you're feeling now is how I want the Dolphins players to take the field tomorrow.

Not directed at you, just in general. Lazor, like many other teams, does not use a FB and no way are they going to start. Miller has done just fine, which many do not realize.

So Be is right. Lazor is not going to a Fullback and it's not all bad. Ajayi is going to give us the added power punch that we lack from the RB spot right now. The RBs we do have right now must not let the trailing D lineman to catch them from behind or we should motion a receiver opposite the run direction, snap the ball when he is about at the tackle and let him just get in the way of the backside D lineman, even if it's for a split second.
