  • FFB question

So my team "Tannehill-billys" has a week one dilemma. I drafted Tannehill and Eli Manning. I'm struggling as to whom to start Sunday. I also have Landry as my flex. I've had a very successful fantasy strategy that has served me well - don't draft or play Dolphin players! I'll always have a token phin or two, a kicker or their defense, but never really guys I need to produce points. I'm comfortable with Landry as my flex, but am concerned having both phins in my lineup could be bad.

So despite my best judgment I let my homer-ism get the best of me this season. Now here I am. So the question is (take your phinfan hat off this is for $$ lol)

    Start Tanny or start Eli?

Start Tanny...I think Miami will struggle to run against the skins but Tanny should be able to light up the secondary. Victor Cruz is still out for NY as well ...Just my $.02

Go against your "Homer" ways and start Eli Manning. Aha - All seriousness aside, I think Tannehill will have a GREAT game against the Redskins, but I think Miller will be getting a lot of work too, which will take away from Tannehill "fantasy points." Eli vs the Cowboys?? Now THAT is going to be a shoot out and I expect there to be TONS of fantasy points for both Eli and Romo. Just my two cents.

In my league they are projected pretty evenly. But Eli is playing Cowboys in Dallas, whose defense is currently (based on what?) ranked 16th against QBs. Ryan is facing the Redskins in Washington who are currently ranked 32nd against QBs. If you were ever going to play RT, this might be your best shot IMHO anyway. I feel your pain! Get me a cigar someone!!

Okay, for bragging rights lets all try and guess what kind of fantasy points each one will put up. Without knowing the point system I am going to guess..............

          Tannehill - 18 Points
          Eli Manning - 27 Points

              Tanehill 29 Eli 19
The deeper the roots, the higher the reach.

Thanks fellas. All good points. I agree with Freak in that Eli always seems to have good games against the Boys, and Miller will get a lot of work. But I also agree that Washington's pass defense was terrible last week and if I'm ever going to roll with Tannehill this week would be the one to do it. Ugh.. My biggest concern is if Tannehill really struggles or we run a ton then I have two players who will struggle. If I play Eli and Tannehill struggles (which will affect Landary) then I still can salvage the QB spot with Eli.. Last year I made it a point to not have guys on my bench that I would consider week in and week out, rather just bye week fill ins. That took all debate out of my starting lineup each week. I won the dam league with that team, although adding Beckham and CJ Anderson mid way through the season helped.. LOL

IMO - Week One is the toughest week out of the year to predict. You do have a tough call to make. Since you are a positive thinking guy, it's a nice problem to have, having two QB's who are good enough to start week one. I stand by my opinion that I think Eli will have the better game. I think Miller is going to take away from some of Tannehll's stats. I also think the Cowboys will be airing it out a ton and I anticipate that game to be HIGH scoring, which will force Eli to air it out because I think the Giants are going to be playing catchup. If the Giants weren't playing the Cowboys I think Eli and Tannehill look pretty equal most weeks, so if you think the same way, that they are equal, it might be a good idea to start Eli """JUST IN CASE""" so ONE mistake doesn't make you lose points are TWO different positions. Just some food for thought.

Their actual numbers, in my league at least................

                      Tannehill - 13.74
Manning - 5.60 (The game is still on but it doesn't look like he is going to be putting up much more. AHA)

It looks like you you made the right choice, but both QB's didn't have a great opening day. This game is BORING!

                        Tannehill 226 yards 64.7% completions 93.5 QBR 1TD 0 INT

                        Eli 193 yards 55.6% 70.7 QBR 0TD 0 INT

I actually think the Redskins have an overall better defense than the Cowboys.

I played Manning.. Luckily Kelce and Antonio Brown stepped up and made up for my QB play. I'm behind right now 124.50 to 125.00 but my opponent is done and I have Jordan Mathews tonight, so unless he pulls a D. Jackson and pulls a hammy on his first target I should be good. Landry definitely earned his spot as my flex. I left Stevie Johnson and Danny Woodhead on the bench which were mistakes, especially Woodhead who totally outperformed Forsett. Still a win for the phins and what looks like a win in Fantasy makes for a good weekend.

I hate it when I make moves that leave points on my bench. In my league I picked up James Jones off waivers but I figured it would take him a week or so to get back into rhythm with Rodgers. Nope. He put up 17 points, which was more than both my WR's put together. Aha (Sanders and Williams) My opponent had Dez Bryant and DeSean Jackson so I am going to get the win unless Matt Ryan puts up 50 points.

I think you are safe with Matthews. He should put up 12-17 points I would guess.

Honestly Freak I purposely try to draft players for my bench that I don't have to debate playing unless it's a bye week and I need them. I hate having to decide between two players both projected for 10 points. lol. Unfortunately in a 10 man league there are just too many good players to not have some of them on your bench.. My kid had Austin Sefarian Jenkins and he benched him for Tyler Eifert. Luckily in our PPR league Eifert ended up with almost 30 pts while ASJ scored 27..
