Does anyone have any game day rituals or superstitions? I have a Dolphins helmet mug that I HAVE to have my Sunday coffee in. I also can not wear any clothing that has ANY of the colors of the opponents colors on it. Do not want to accidentally give them some added mojo. So now I have publically confessed. Anyone else?

Same here. The Sunday only mug, my gumball machine helmets facing the direction the team is facing, my starting lineup action figures all facing the same too. I'm 55 and an idiot for thinking it helps. If my family watches with me, they must wear their jerseys.

I used to have rituals when I was able to do them. (Location) I would get ready for the game as if I were going on a date or something, with the exception of my clothing of course, which would obviously be a jersey and other Dolphins apparel. I used to shower up, get my my favorite jersey on, grab my big Dolphins mug and fill it with whatever I felt like at the time, grab my official NFL football and then get ready for kickoff.
I don't bother doing any of that anymore. I figure why bother. If this organization isn't going to do anything to better my favorite team why should I bother wasting money on apparel and wasting time getting ready to watching another failed year where we are talking about the draft in October. I will never give up on the Miami Dolphins, ever. They will always be my favorite team. But, I will not buy anything with the new logo on it until they prove to me that they want to win."If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking." - George S. Patton

Judge Milan is one of my MAJOR crushes. Very hot lady. But I do no think this team doesn't want to win. I think they have not had the best competence at the top. The fact we keep turning front office and coaches over tells me they WANT to win. If they didn't want to then Tony Sparano would still be the head coach LOL!. Part of being a fan is you go through the rituals, you cheer, you hope. Face it There are 30 other teams every year who do not win the Super Bowl. And very many who never get close like we do. The formula just isn't that easy. But I will always be a fan. Dress, buy, cheer and hope for the best. And I do that for me not the team. They don't know what I do or do not do so I really don't think I would be teaching them a lesson by not participating.

You know Freak I get it. The frustration and the disappointment. Especially when this franchise performed at such a high level for so long. I enjoy football. I just do not get so emotionally tethered that it moves me or ruins my day or life. I just remember that sports are entertainment. We aren't curing cancer, just getting some fun and excitement in for our own entertainment. Part of that is cheering on through bad times. You are denying yourself the fun of being a fan because you are making it only about winning. To me it is the whole event of football. The draft, the cuts, the games, the fantasy football, etc. etc. I love wearing my team colors, I love giving Jets fans shit, and I love watching the games even when we lose. It is entertaining. If you sit it out because we don't win you are missing out on the best part of being a fan. The participation. It is why we are here on this site. Why we are sharing a community of common interest and it is FUN! And when we do turn it around it will make it all that much sweeter and we will all go through it together. Hell yeah.
Just some things to consider my Dolphin brother.

I totally understand where you're coming from. I do. This forum is filled with Dolphins fans that seem to be made up of people in their 40's and up. So, most of us had the privilege of watching the Dolphins in their glory days and then watching Dan Mario entertain us with his QB skills, win or lose. Yes, we all wanted the Dolphins to win of course but man, even when they lost you came away from that game feeling like you just watched something spectacular. It was fun! It was a great time watching Marino air it out for four quarters.
If the Dolphins didn't pass up Drew Brees three times we would be enjoying him air it out for four quarters every week. But, that didn't happen. We are not stuck with a dink and dunk offense that I just can't get behind. IF the Dolphins had a dink and dunk offense that actually worked, I could get behind it, because the teams that run it successfully score touchdowns. I want to be entertained by one of the few sports I actually followed. I guess that's the difference between you and I, is that I am NOT entertained by the results of this team and haven't been many many years. I would love for the Dolphins to be a consistent playoff team. If they are not going to a build a team like that at least get some coaches that can figure out how to put points on the board, build an elite defense or something that IS entertaining. Watching your team lose always sucks, but watching them be embarrassed year after year by bad front office choices and then seeing the obvious unfold on the field is just taking away the fun of the game for me. Hopefully "RT" or "17" as some call him can turn out to be the player that some think he is I can get behind him and dust off my jersey and get excited once again to watch some Dolphins football.
