  • ajaya injured?

armando metioned that ajaya got a chest injury in the 3rd quarter , was it something that would slow down his progress?
did he just get dinged and they just stopped playing him as a precaution.
I listened to the buc's broadcast and the mentioned nothing about what was going on the miami side!

A broken rib is being reported. Dafuq?

Miami Herald - Adam Beasley - Jay Ajayi cracks a rib, complicating the Dolphins' plans as they begins cuts.

"Jay Ajayi told reporters late Thursday that he's not "overly concerned" about the chest injury that prematurely ended the best game of his rookie preseason.
Either Ajayi was putting on a brave face or has an incredible tolerance for pain.
Ajayi cracked a rib during the Dolphins' 22-17 loss to Tampa Bay Thursday -- yet another setback in a summer that hasn't gone according to plan."

Is this the pre-courser to putting him on IR and redshirting him? I think they like his running and catching ability, but his blocking must improve.

Dolphins rookie RB Jay Ajayi suffered a cracked rib in Thursday night's preseason finale.
Ajayi can't stay off the trainer's table this summer after missing a large part of the beginning of training camp and the first two preseason games with a hamstring injury. The fifth-round rookie finished the exhibition season with 91 yards on 16 carries (5.6 YPC), displaying the running ability that had draftniks pegging him as a second-rounder. It's possible Ajayi goes to I.R.

        Fred Jackson ?

At this stage, he's not a critical part of the offense anyway. I'm not worried about putting him on IR for the first 6 wks or so and letting him heal up and be fresh down the stretch. Miller and GIlly both looked good and Williams is our pass catching 3rd down back most likely anyway.

Even if Ajayi was healthy, he was probably not going to see much action to start the season given his spotty pass protection. He looks like he can be really good over time, we just need to let him get healed up and be fresh later on.

Hopefully he'll lean how to better protect himself from bigger hits over time.

In my opinion we don't need Jackson. I would rather have LaMike James and Gillislee.

Man this sucks. He was having a great game even though it was against backups and camp bodies. I say put him on the PUP as a rib takes about 6 weeks to heal. I think we have a bye in that 6 week span too(week #5). That way we'll have a fresh set of legs towards the second half of the season.

Man, he looks freaky good. He definitely needs to improve in pass protection. Fast, runs hard, good hands, good vision. He'll be a nice addition come mid season.

Maybe we can put Ajayi on the PUP list. Then we can either let James or Gillislee go when Ajayi returns.

I really think Ajayi has the potential to be a special back....but putting him on the PUP or IR with the option to return is worth considering. He's hurt and won't contribute a lot initially anyhow. It would free up a roster spot elsewhere for someone really on the bubble that we don't want to lose (Lippett?).

I wouldn't put him on the IR because I "THINK" you're only allowed 1 player to return from IR during the season which I would save. IMO the PUP would be best as I said above it takes about 6 weeks for a rib to heal and the PUP is for 6 games and I "THINK" the PUP opens up a roster spot as well which gives a player 6 weeks to prove himself, I think.

You can put as many players on the IR as needed but I think you can only designate one for return.
