  • Liking Dolphins Different Direction?

Many have been asking for years that Miami build through the draft and not free agency for a supposed quick fix. Draft disasters have not made that decision easy but, y a gotta wonder if maybe FA's had something to do with that. Recently, we have been developing and counting on "All The Young Dudes" and it does appear to be working.

In the last two years, we really only took shots at high priced FA's in Albert and Suh, a couple in the mid range in Cameron and Mitchell. The rest have been low cost, and we mostly are depending on who we picked. Just look at the starters.

You never Know how this will work out in the end but, I am very happy with the new direction.

I have always preferred to build thru the draft... The problem being is it takes time and in our instant gratification society, Time is one thing a coaching staff doesn't get. I know this is heresy but I feel that you have to give a staff 5 years to build a team that can contend.

Agreed... and the young guys are starting to come around. Tannehill, Miller, Landry, Jenkins, etc... are all blossoming right now. If not for the rash of misfortune and injuries last season, I think we'd have won 10 games. I think we're a 10-11 game winner this season regardless - if we can stay healthy. Sucks about Ajayi's ribs.

Couldn't agree with you more on this one, successful teams are built through the draft and augmented by bringing in the type of player who you want to have help this young talent develop. Can't help but smile when I think of the example Suh brings to both veteran and rookie..... We're fortunate to have a owner with deep pockets and a commitment to building a winning franchise, I know many still doubt Philbin but it seems as though things are coming together.

The Free agents that start to become a bidding war we let loose like Clay. Good GMs know to keep and let loose.

Miami had to bring in free agents. The team was so void of talent and had such a big cap space they had no choice. As much as I have not been a Philbin fan they are building through the draft and devel;oping players. The team is littered with young productive players that have been drafted by them and developed. Kudos to the FO and coaching staff for sticking with them and Kudos to Ross for not listening to us FANS (at least for now...LOL)

I'm with ya. Unless a new coach comes to a team with VG underachieving talent, 3 years is not enough. When you continue to change coaches, you hinder young guys who are not what new coaches wanted, and start over to a degree. A little stability does help as most rookies take 2-3 years to adapt to the NFL.

The big contracts for Tannehill and Suh have made it imperative that the draft works. We will no longer have the cap space to play with. Fortunately, the young guys appear to be ready to fill the needs.
