  • Dolphins Interested In Tulloch?

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Miami Dolphins express interest I n free-agent middle linebacker, Stephen Tulloch this offseason. The Miami native was released by the Detroit Lions back in July , and has received very little interest since.

Despite Miami’s interest in the veteran linebacker, the team made it clear they were only interested in signing Tulloch to a cheaper, team-friendly deal. Tulloch is hopeful he can get more money elsewhere, and the two sides remain at a standstill.

Tulloch 31, had an impressive 2015 season with the Lions, where he started all 16 games, recording 107 tackles, one sack, and two forced fumbles. Throughout his nine-year career, Tulloch amassed 941 tackles, 14.5 sacks, five interceptions and two forced fumbles.

As the season slowly approaches, the Dolphins continue to turn over every stone, searching for talent to add to the team’s roster. Tulloch would be a welcomed addition to a Dolphins’ defense, which struggled against the run in 2015. It is also worth noting, Tulloch played under current Dolphins’ defensive line coach Jim Washburn during his time in Detroit.

Would be an immediate upgrade to the LB corp and provide versatility and depth. Bring him in if we can get him.

I expressed interest in Tulloch back months ago when the Lions first stated he was no longer in their plans & would (eventually?) release him...Probably just another proven starter that the Fins will insult with a super-low offer, who'll go on, peddle his wares elsewhere and help another team uber-thin at the LB position......

Dolphins need a starting caliberinrbacker, the Bills are desperate for a linebacker, the Dolphins have shown interest but as you stated they usually lowball veterans who can help improve their team. The Dolphins will allow him to help another team rather than their own.

Wonder why it's taking so long for him to land somewhere. Maybe he did lose a step or three.

I totally agree, Tulloch would add much needed versatility and depth to our LB corps. We have over $12M in cap space so we have enough money to sign him.

This guy better be on a flight to Miami or signed already! He's had a lot of success in this wide9 scheme.

The Fins could offer him a contract and he'd probably hold out for less money just to play for ANYONE else!

Now that was funny! If I were him and not a Dolphins fan, after last nights debacle the Dolphins would have to pay me a lot of money to go down there in that humidity and humility.

I think he is also on Eagles radar. They lost a LB yesterday.

Now it looks like we need to scour the waiver wire for a Center and maybe a RB if Foster doesn't pan out.

Supposedly Steen has been doing well as the backup Center. Had a good practice with the ones today as well.

Thats some good news. He was pretty good at Alabama.

I've been rooting for Steen... he was a very good OLineman for Alabama.

Steen is a squatty guy with short arms. Those kind of guys are usually better off at center.

Philbin fkd us by dumping Brenner last season for Douglas, who had never played OC before last season, and they tried to make him into a passable backup center after the season was underway. Douglas killed a few drives with bad snaps.

Had we kept JD Walton last season as a backup Center, and used him after Pouncey got hurt, we may have won another game or two. Granted he is nothing special as a blocker, but he had started at Center for the Broncos at least two full seasons, and he could shotgun snap with consistent accuracy and good velocity. Douglas's lob shotgun snaps, or dribbling the ball back to the QB were awful. Once we saw Douglas struggle with shotgun snaps, if it was up to me, Tannehill would have worked strictly under center from that point on, but again, Dallas Thomas couldn't block anyone for longer than 1.5 seconds.

Hoping Steen can bolster this position. Always something with this damned OL...
