  • Training Camp Updates 8/17

    Alain Poupart‏ @apoupartFins
[email protected] players getting rest day: Moore, Misi, Reshad Jones, Wake, Foster.

    Luis D. Sung ‏@FLSportDebater
Matt Moore getting rest eh? That means Brandon Doughty becomes the primary backup today. Gase looking for samples.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL
On the final day of training camp, the #Dolphins are moving practice inside because of heavy rain.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL
No helmet and shoulder pads today for #Dolphins WR coach/wild man Shawn Jefferson in practice. That's a good thing.

    Barry Jackson‏ @flasportsbuzz
Dallas thomas back with starters at left guard. Was Tunsil yesterday to open practice.

    Barry Jackson‏ @flasportsbuzz
Per source, Hard Rock deal for Dolphin stadium naming rights is 18 years

    Adam Beasley‏ @AdamHBeasley
Matt Hazel running with the 1s. That's new.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL
I'm keeping my eye on #Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron in the second preseason game. They need more plays from the TEs.

    Antwan V. Staley‏ @antwanstaley
Parker has looked good in practice so far today. I believe he will play on Friday. Those are just my initial thoughts BTW

    James Walker‏ @JamesWalkerNFL
On second drive, #Dolphins are going with Laremy Tunsil and Jermon Bushrod at guard with the starters. #DolphinsTwitter likes that better.

    Barry Jackson‏ @flasportsbuzz
Dolphins now trying Tunsil, Bushrod with Tannehill group. And on and on the experimenting goes.

    Adam Beasley‏ @AdamHBeasley
Landry and Bobby McCain just exchanged blows

    Adam Beasley‏ @AdamHBeasley
Bobby McCain is still hot. Byron Maxwell tries to calm him down.

    @JamesWalkerNFL
#Dolphins veteran CB Byron Maxwell is talking to Bobby McCain to calm him down. McCain was in two scraps already in practice today.

    Barry Jackson‏ @flasportsbuzz
And large fight now erupts in final dolphins training can practice. Wheeee!

    Armando Salguero‏ @ArmandoSalguero
FYI: I expect Laremy Tunsil to start at LG against the Dallas Cowboys Friday evening.

    Adam Beasley‏ @AdamHBeasley
Another fight. Coleman and Bushrod now.

    James Walker‏ @JamesWalkerNFL
There were more fights today (three) than at the entire #Dolphins training camp prior (two).

    Adam Beasley‏ @AdamHBeasley
Gase just pulled the entire team together and said something that elicited a response.

    Antwan V. Staley ‏@antwanstaley
Drake is running on the sideline. Still doesn't appear to be right

    James Walker‏ @JamesWalkerNFL
#Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill throws high and hard to WR DeVante Parker, who can't bring it down in team drills.

    James Walker‏ @JamesWalkerNFL
#Dolphins WR Jakeem Grant with a nice catch underneath in team drills.

    James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerNFL
#Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry called today's fights in practice "team love." He said no hard feelings w/players and everything is squashed.

Short practice due to weather and moving into the Bubble. Most of the twitter guys aren't allowed in the Bubble, so not much info today.

Adam Gase response to scrapes in practice: "it's football ...nobody got hurt."

      Armando Salguero‏ @ArmandoSalguero
Adam Gase this has been the best week of camp. It ended today.

      Barry Jackson‏ @flasportsbuzz
Gase said he plans to play everyone who's healthy Friday in Dallas.

When it's the Dolphins we're talking about, we hope there's enough of those healthy one's to even field a team.....

Went over to sleazy Omar's twitter as he was one of the few in the Bubble tweeting today. Need a shower now. lol...

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Dolphins' final training camp practice open to the public has been moved inside the bubble and is closed to fans. Sorry

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Devante Parker does look 100%, but he is pushing himself. That's a step in the right direction. Hamstring injuries are tricky.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Dallas Thomas and Billy Turner are your starting guards for the first 11- on-11 session.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Nice left side run by Jay Ajayi. Kiko Alonso gave him a nice pop.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Mario Williams beat JaWuan James to pressure Tannehill. He still threw a completion.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Jay Ajayi with a nice right side run for about 20. Nice!

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Tannehill scans the field. Nobody open and he checks down to Ajayi in the flat.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
DeVante Parker is working in this 11-on-11 period, but Griff Whalen is playing plenty, taking his reps.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Laremy Tunsil and Jermon Bushrod taking second 11-on-11 drill as the starting guards.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Super cute moment. Dallas Thomas & Billy Turner give each other a fist bump before going in as the 2nd team guards.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Three short passes from Tannehill that fail to convert a first down. Sigh!

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Not going to lie, Ulrick John has been decent as the backup left tackle. He was a turnstile last year in one game.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Ulrick John is handling Chris McCain today.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Jarvis Landry catches a poorly thrown pass that Bobby McCain mistimed on the jump. Jarvis talks smack and punches McCain.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Jarvis Landry and Bobby MCCain get the team juiced up. Next play is a deep pass to DeVante Parker.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Kenny Stills and Bobby McCain get into it. Stills yelling , "come on Bobby."

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Tannehill threads the seam for a 30 yard pass to Gabe Hughes during 7-on-7. Maybe they need to fight more often.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Griff Whalen is probably going to be the toughest decision the Dolphins have to make regarding keep or cut. He can play. Scrappy.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Kenny Stills with a 40 yard touchdown, plenty of yards after the catch once he jukes Brandon Harris.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Tannehill throws into double coverage and Isa Abdul Quddus picks off the tipped pass. Bad throw, but I like the aggressive approach FINALLY.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Chris McCain beats Branden Albert for a sack of Ryan Tannehill.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Rookie linebacker Tyler Gray with the tipped pass of a Brandon Doughty floater.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Backup left tackle Ulrick John is killing it today

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Jermon Bushrod and Deandre Coleman get into a fight. This team is tired of practicing one another.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Dallas Thomas and Jermon Bushrod the starting guards now.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Devante Parker can't bring in a long but high pass from Tannehill. He climbed be ladder. More on the receiver than the QB.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Cleyon Laing with a sack of Brandon Doughty.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
I love what I'm seeing from Mike Hull. I was thinking practice squad for another year, but he seems sponge worthy this camp.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
It appears the Dolphins broke camp and vets can now sleep in their own bed.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
"Somebody makes a play, starts talking. Bobby (McCain) isn't going to take that," Adam Gase said.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Adam Gase said he ended practice three periods early because of the speed he was seeing. "It was good work in pads."

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
"We are still toying with what we want to do there for the first period of the game," Gase on if Tunsil will start.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Adam Gase said he is in the process of finding the right five (O-linemen). That is the starting point understanding an identity.

          Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Top performers from today's Dolphins practice: 1. Isa Abdul Quddus (INT) 2. Ulrick John (stout) 3.Kenny Stills (RAC TD in half field 7-on-7)

Can we say Ulrick John! Sounds like an Amish person hehe.
The deeper the roots, the higher the reach.

Typically anyone Omar brags on does little or nothing. His praise is often the KOD. lol...

            Bobby McCain is really feisty.

Its nice to see Mike Hull making an impression. That bolsters our LB depth.

John Ulrik playing well is encouraging since Branden Albert is kind of fragile we need a good backup LT.

Kenny Stills seems to be having a good camp hopefully it translates to when the games count.

Jordan Cameron better start picking it up. We need him to be productive.

Yes, Bobby's temperament is very much like Landry's own... Landry has drawn penalties and hurt the team several times losing his cool and doing stupid stuff on the field. Bobby isn't going to let him get away with talking smack and acting up either.

I didn't think much of Hull based on las season, but this camp he's done as much or more than other guys. Hewitt seems to have fell off though.

I'd rather have Bushrod as the backup LT. I have zero faith in Ulrick. Omar's opinions are rarely on point.

Stills is fast, but he's getting his ass kicked in press coverage and has had the DBs, and Maxwell in particular, take balls away from him or knock him off routes.

Gase has been very critical of Cameron this summer, and Sims has been getting reps with the 1s. Gase stated that Cameron had a lot on his plate and was behind on his assignments in blocking and route running. Hoping he get's it together in these next 2 weeks. We need him to excel this season.
