  • Dallas Game: What are you looking for?

OK preseason game #2 this week. What will you be looking for? Clearly the starters will play more. I am expecting a whole quarter out of them. Some maybe even longer. Here is my list:

    1. Tannehill more efficient, and more accurate.
    2. Offensive line needs to show improvement
    3. Linebacker play needs to improve.
    4. Can Grant continue what he has been showing?
    5. Can Pead show us more at Running Back?
    6. Will the young DBs (McCain, Pitts, etc.) continue what they have shown?

    What are you looking for?

    1. Tannehill more efficient, and more accurate.

RT will NEVER, nor would any other QB be more efficient or accurate with this OL. RT never had a chance in the first game, nor will he in this game...

Why, because our Coach thought DT was a good OL, that is all we need to know as to why our OL is still a league leading last place....

    2. Offensive line needs to show improvement

Good luck with that, they are who they are...

    3. Linebacker play needs to improve.

Why? We made no changes that would give us any hope that these guys can tackle anyone...As proven in the first game

    4. Can Grant continue what he has been showing?

Won't matter, there isn't a QB in the league that could complete passes with this OL...

    5. Can Pead show us more at Running Back?

Once again, it all starts with the OL, which we failed to take care of....

    6. Will the young DBs (McCain, Pitts, etc.) continue what they have shown?

Just better hope these guys can score, we stand a chance then....

I think it is too early to pass that much judgement. The talent is there on the line. They need to settle on starters and start getting them some reps. They should play the OLine the entire first half this week.

Not too early as I have watched this OL for the last couple years....

Fat Albert is about as good as it gets and he's slower than last year and can't stay healthy....

Tunsil, he hasn't even broke into starter mode, against some of the worse OL in the league...

Pouncey was a huge bust for what we paid for him, but too late, he's ours now....

Why, because our Coach thought DT was a good OL, that is all we need to know as to why our OL is still a league leading last place....Looks a lot like the last few years, no real improvement showing yet.

    2. Offensive line needs to show improvement

Good luck with that, they are who they are...They look like they are still broke after 6 years. Hopefully they will improve soon, but they don't look very good (still) after the other night.

    3. Linebacker play needs to improve.

Why? We made no changes that would give us any hope that these guys can tackle anyone...As proven in the first game. No big improvement (yet) here

    4. Can Grant continue what he has been showing?

Won't matter, there isn't a QB in the league that could complete passes with this OL...

    5. Can Pead show us more at Running Back?

I certainly hope they improve soon, but I have my doubts. Maybe put the back-ups in as starters, and use the starters as back-ups? Might wake 'em up some.

6 - Improved DB play with Maxwell on the outside with Bobby McCain in the slot
7 - DVP getting work on the outside with Landry in the slot
8 - Improved Special Teams play
9 - RBs making something happen
10 - Doughty getting some of Moore's snaps

        1) O Line cohesion.
        2) Arian Foster's vision and patience behind the O line. (If he plays). Pead picked his way for a few nice runs. Foster combines comparable vision with Ajayi's size and power.
        3) Cornerbacks continuing to get in good position and play the ball in the air. I thought they did a solid job versus the Giants. Who really wants
it? Who has the guts to go and get it?
        4) Michael Thomas be a ballhawk, not the referee.
        5) A small taste of DeVante in action.
        6) Jakeem! Looks like a dangerous return man. Made a great effort and rare 1st down catch on a 3rd and long. Got open easily. Very questionable judgement and adjustment to a pass that probably would have been a touchdown. Did he not see it or expect it? If
either is the case, why not?
        7) Lafayette Pitts. Can he stay in the hip pocket? Can he go up with the big boys?

          1. IF Tannehill plays at all I would LOVE to see him move his head. That's it. Baby Steps. Just move his head and show that he can actually do it. Drop back, looks LEFT, and then throw right.
          2. I would like to see Dallas Thomas on the bench.
          3. I would like to see Doughty get reps with the First Team.
          4. I would like to see the starting offensive line of Albert, Tunsil, Pouncey, Bushrod and James.......and I would like to see them block well on both passing and running plays.
          4. I would like to see Grant get a little more time back there and show what he can really do. He will run back three kicks this season.
          5. I would like to see Pead get some reps with the first team o-line and QB.
          6. Better play from the linebackers.
          7. I would like to see better TACKLING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tanehill should get medical clearance for a helmet visor. That way he moves his head and they can't see his eyes. Kaepernick is asking for one.

I would love to see that #2 OL take the #1 snaps this week. What's the WORST that could happen?

I want to see our starting D line against their starting O line. Dallas has one of the best lines in the league and I want to see if our D line can feast on them the way they have our O line in practice. Should be a good measuring stick.
            Can we sign this guy?

Dallas should have one of the best with the players they picked up, I think they were just average at best last year.....Didn't come close to the expectations they were billed to be....

Seadog...having DeMarco Murray HIGHLIGHTED the Cowboys O-Line. With lessor RBs, and a a couple of injuries, what you say is what seemed to be. When you have a back getting 1600+ yards, the first thought is always "what a great O-Line."
I think Friday the Dolphins D-Line...the real one...will have their hands full, but I believe Elliot is injured....it's the RUN Defense I worry most about.

If our starting o-line does not play better against the Cowboys then that will be cause for alarm since the Cowboys D-line is not nearly as good as the Giants D-line. So I want to see better o-line play. I want to see Tannehill at least look efficient and move the offense. I would like to see something from Ajayi since he is likely to get a lot of playing time this season. Pead had a good first game and I would like to see if he can have another one and if he does he should solidify himself as our #3 RB. I also want to see more of Grant and Doughty.

Defensively I want to see how well our starting D-line fares against perhaps the best o-line in the NFL. Then i want to see how our secondary performs and if the tackling by our LB corps improves.

I actually thought Special teams play was VERY good. Nice coverage on kicks, grant with significant returns, field goal made. I think the 1st team D Line...the REAL one needs to show how it's done, as they will be facing the best O-Line in the NFL. If they can hold their own, it's a victory, even for pre-season. My concern will be if the Dolphins can run the ball without tackles behind the LOS. Watching the Titans game here, it was a demolition of the Chargers, who wanted no part of tackling Henry and DeMarco Murray. The Titans O-Line, with the addition of Jack Conklin (they passed on Tunsil) is 100% better. It shows what one guy can do to light a fire under guys like Lewan and others. THAT'S why I'd like to see Tinsel at LT, Albert at LG, his college position. Tunsil can be a playmaker at LT, but not at guard..or at least not as much, IMO. But what do I know?

The game is on the NFL Network so if you have that you should be able to see it.

On ST, Grant was a highlight, but there were several things that needed to be tightened up on the returns I thought. Really looking forward to seeing the rookies and younger guys out there getting their assignments down and doing more to block on returns.

Not sure how much of that match-up you'll see. We'll probably baby Wake a bit and I don't want Suh put at risk either. I'd love to see our OL come out with an attitude and dominate, but apart from Turner, none of them really have that sort of pride and demeanor. Billy is the only one that seems to have a nasty streak. Tunsil might, but haven't seen enough of him yet. Albert will give about 3/4 effort. No idea what we'll get from Pouncey or James, who has been really disappointing.

Albert is a technician at LT. They won't move Tunsil unless Albert goes down and even then, they might favor Bushrod at LT based on experience this season. It'll be next year that they really look at Tunsil at LT I think. Just hoping all these guys stay healthy this season and get their shat together by the season opener in Seattle.

An O-line for once in a long time which would create a running game and passing game.
The TEs (did you know we have those?) to show up.
The D-line to stop the run and to feast on the passing game.
The back ups to continue to build off of last week.
Continue to knock off Phailbins culture of softness.
