  • Phins shopping Will Davis?

Interesting - but his value is pretty low just now as he continues to recover. Don't see they'll get a lot. I'm guessing this is so they don't have to make a tough decision on Tony Lippett (who shows flashes of skill but is really raw and would benefit from a year on the PS.....but might get poached if we subject him to waivers).

Shoppers will find Will Davis in the isle that has all YELLOW products with a generic label and black lettering that reads "Injury-Prone Cornerback" rather than his name. No brand names on this isle, just generic merchandise at bargain basement prices.

Agreed - the injury bug has hurt him....but don't forget he was really showing something early on. I think Davis has talent but I don't know if he'll ever be healthy enough to fully realize it. I think they may keep him if they don't get a trade offer...but if they can get something back they'll go with Lippett (who isn't really ready but they clearly like the potential).

I like Lippett's potential, too. I am wondering if they would think about playing him at free safety? That could be an interesting position for him to play. I could see him playing safety and I could see them putting him on tight ends once he gets the hang of the positions. A 6'3" DB is a nice commodity to have. I hope they put him in as a WR this year too because he has some great hands.

I'd be shocked if they got anything for him...tells me he's getting cut and they will be looking at the CB cuts come Saturday

Thats what I was thinking. I don't think we would get anything for him and it probably means he is not going to make the final cut. I would be scouring the waiver wire this weekend when teams cut down to 53 because we need to improve our depth in the secondary.

They could get someone another team is looking to cut. Never hurts to try

I could see a conditional late pick. No risk for trading team who doesn't have to worry about who may claim him.

I could see us doing the same, depending on who might be available.

Agreed. No idea why anyone would give us anything for him. He looked good in camps when healthy, but was not good in coverage or at tackling when it mattered. Between Brice and Bobby McCain, plus the other DBs we've picked up, he is no loss as he wasn't much of a contributor to begin with.

Will Davis' name has come up in connection with the 49ers. Don't know level of interest.

I'd be all for keeping Davis if he could only stay healthy. I'm a fan of his and a fan of Gilly but they are both made of glass.

I would rather keep Davis unless we can get a better DB in a trade.
