  • Dolphins sign CB Rashaan Melvin

    @AaronWilson_NFL
    Dolphins worked out Al Louis-Jean today, according to a source

    Dolphins auditioned three cornerbacks after practice (no, not Antonio Cromartie).

    Dolphins have signed CB Rashaan Melvin, per agent Mike McCartney. Played in combined 12 games for Balt. and NE past 2 seasons."

      In order to facilitate this they released Jake Stoneburner. They must really be high on Thomas Duarte. I like that!
      The happiness of the Dolphin is to exist.... Jacques Cousteau.

        Was kinda surprised about Stoneburner myself, but in addition to Duarte, we have Gray and a couple others as well that Gase had brought in...

          They have a couple other TEs on the 90 man roster as well. Seems really odd to me they let Stoneburner go. I think he showed promise and won't be out there long.

            Really surprised they cut Stoneburner to make room, i wouldn't be surprised if he's picked up by the Pats!

              We're already witnessing the knock-on effect of having very little proven talent at Corner with zero depth and two of the better Corner's on the PUP...You end up signing guys off the street and letting decent talent at other positions go....

                I read that a log jam at TE with now 6 TEs, including Cameron, Sims, Duarte, Gray, and some others...

                At DB, we have Maxwell, Lippett, Chekwa, IEO, Lucas, McCain, Patmon, Pitts, and Bobby Mac, who is returning by Monday, and Rashaan, who we signed today.

                I did read that several guys failed the conditioning test. Stoneburner may have been one of those along with Williams.

                  If Stoneburner failed his conditioning test for any other reason than injury he deserves the boot, but all i know is that he's been pretty impressive in his limited playing time - Obviously Cameron & Sims are keeper's..Duarte is a WR pretending to be a TE who has never been asked to block, don't know anything about Gray...What i'm concerned about is when you have start cutting talent from another area because your overall talent in a different area is threadbare with half that talent on the PUP..Hopefully BMac is healthy and continues to improve, we'll be lucky if Howard is ready to contribute anything by late Sept.

                  Duarte is more of an H-back like Clay was with Clay being a little heavier. Duarte is more along the lines of a Hernandez - without being a murderer... (hopefully)... lol...

                I am of the mind of Aqua, thinking Duarte must look like a nice weapon as a flex TE. I don't like that Greer reaches into the scrap heap for a CB. Has he not learned from our team past? Pay the money and go get one of the FAs that have proven themselves in this league. We have young unproven guys. Lots of them. Get us a guy that can at least teach our youngsters some tricks of the trade if he doesn't make his way into the starting line-up.
                You can be sure of one thing. As soon as this CB gets cut, he'll be back in New England giving a breakdown of all our new systems and alignments.

                    We should probably all be wearing helmets...afterall our team is short-bus special!

                  Cutting stone breaker doesn't bother me. New coach who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to cut legacy players. No problem with that.
