  • Nick Foles to be cut, become FA

This isn't an advocation to sign him as i haven't really followed him this past season...Pretty sure he wouldn't be an upgrade over RT but i wonder if there'd be any interest as a backup??

NFL Caliber competition would be more than nice for Tannehill to have in camp. He needs to have competition to push him. Before that Raiders game when Philbin threatened Tannehill's job, that weeks game was probably one of Tannehill's best games he's ever played because he played with fire. He did not want to lose that starting job. Maybe Foles can help light that fire underneath Tannehill the way that threat did. There is no way to tell if Foles would even be a threat until we see him in Gase's offense but I think it would be a great idea to bring in Foles if for nothing else to push Tannehill, and if he is able to unseat him then he never deserved the starting job to begin with. I doubt Foles would unseat him, but he could definitely push him and be a above average backup quarterback which is something that Moore is not any longer.

Foles basically had one great season in Philly other than that he hasn't done much. I think he has some upside. I would like to bring him in at a reasonable price. He might push Tannehill and he is certainly better than Moore. He would probably want to go to a team where he thinks he has a good chance of starting right away so he might not choose the Dolphins since its unlikely he would unseat Tannehill right away.

        Sorry...missed your posting.

Nah... he wouldn't be able to beat out Tannehill or push Moore. Besides they are still very high on Brandon Doughty. Now if Moore or Doughty get injured, or Doughty were to get cut, then sure...

In was on the Doughty bandwagon when he was drafted, hut he's nowhere near the QB as Foles. Don't forget, Foles played ProBowl calibre a year with Chip kelly. He's NOT a one year wonder.

I agree with Cuch, I'd rather develop Doughty on the cheap while Moore is a Veteran also on the somewhat cheap. Foles was let go because he took les guarrenteed money so he can be let go. Something tells me he wants to be a high paying backup or go somewhere so he can be the man.
Just frolic and live in the now like Dolphins and Man's best friend.

AQ, develop Doughty? Then why did Gase go and get Fales? Get Fales, you have Fales and Foles.
Tannehill can be every bit as good as Foles...if he was playing for the Eagles.
The Dolphins?...In the immortal words of the late Jerome Brown..."bad team, man, bad fuc**n team."

That was a year and a half ago. Hindsight is 20/20 but Foles was who he was back then. Good job of him maturing and Coaches playing his strengths. Still take RT over Foles. I may regret this later hehehe!

Not hindsight for me...I can document my daily Miami Herald rants to draft Foles. I stayed up late to watch several of his games.

Agreed...you just saw an Eli Manning performance against Brady...who was pretty damn tremendous. watching those 2 teams actually gives me so hope. That was some really bad defense out there, horrible secondary play, and poor coaching.
The officials couldn't even bail them out.

Looks like he might get that, if the Eagles will trade him...

Foles will be the Man now for another franchise. I doubted him and he did a great job in the post season.

The Eagles aren't letting him go. Carson Wentz might not be ready to start the season and Foles is their insurance policy and he only makes about $5M next year. Unless somebody gives them a first round pick which I dont think will happen he isnt going anywhere.

Funny, Case keenum had one good season, and many of y'all wanted to pay him 17 million. Not singling you out FTL.

Foles is the MVP for SB 52. Has any Champion team's MVP ever been up for trade the next month?

Yes, the DB for the Cowboys, I believe their last Super Bowl. Forgot his name. I believe he was traded the next year. I think he ran 1 or 2 kicks in for touchdowns. Murky memory though.

Larry Brown wasn't traded, he was a free agent who cashed in with the Raiduhs...

Wentz is already on the weight barring part of his rehab. He is ahead of schedule and should be ready to start 2018.

The Eagles signed Foles to a 5 year deal worth $27.5 million. Over the next three years of the deal, Foles' contract would be worth $5.5 million per year, plus the $600,000 signing bonus. His cap hit is minimal.

As we know there are MANY quarterback needy teams in the league right now. Nick Foles just won the Super Bowl, the MVP, did the unthinkable by beating the Patriots and looked better then future Hall of Fame quarterback Tim Brady while doing so. Foles did NOT look like a Flacco-type, depending on his defense to win the game for him. Foles earned that MVP trophy and earned a shot at being some teams starting quarterback next season.

The Eagles are in a GREAT situation right now. They can choose to keep Foles and have TWO starting caliber quarterback OR they could fleece a team and get multiple #1 picks for him.

I posted here somewhere that instead of drafting a RB in the 4th round (Bahamas very fine mock draft) we sign Blount. He will cost a bit more now. He's an UFA.

Anyone who has read Salguero's columns the year Foles was in the draft might remember me constantly on his case...I wanted him in the first round. Would have come a lot cheaper. Doug Peterson is everything we wanted Adam Gase to be. In Gase's defense, he did have #17 playing much more consistently till the injury.
