  • Will Mario Williams...

be our defensive MVP this year? I think there is a possibility he will. I think he could even lead the NFL in sacks. Williams' sack average over the past four years is over ten even after recording only five in 2015. In fact he was getting better and better recording 10.5, 13 and 14.5 consecutively until Rex threw him the change-up last year.
He's healthy, he's focused, he's angry, he has a lot to prove and he will have Cam Wake and Ndamukong Suh backing QBs right into his path. Joseph has already made it clear that he was brought in to do one thing; get to the QB.
Williams isn't going to play the stand the OT up, read run or pass, then shed the blocker and attack the QB, a la Olivier Vernon and pick up a handful of mop up sacks. Williams is coming. He's collapsing the edge. He's dictating.
Our LBs and DBs should benefit greatly from his pressure. RBs will have less space to navigate before lanes close up and less time to pick a direction and go. QBs will be squeezed tighter in the pocket and forced to throw quicker. God knows he wore Tannehill and everyone in front of him out when he was a Bill.
Mario Williams is not an old, broken down man. The best is yet to come. I expect to see the equivalent of a Charles Haley, Richard Dent, Kim Bokamper type of season. I guess that would leave Jordan Phillips one on one all season.

Man I hope you're right. If he can play with that, prove them wrong, chip on his shoulder then he has a chance to be special.
    Can we sign this guy?

Would love to see Williams and Wake competing for sacks, with Suh, Branch, and a couple others cleaning up after them.

      Circle the Bills games. lol...

Yeah its about time that we benefit from a player getting revenge on his former team instead of it always happening to us.

Indeed... lol... hoping both Williams and Kiko light it up against the Bills, and Chris Jones crushes Brady when we face the Pats.

Rex is salty, calling Mario selfish. It's personal and I hope Super Mario bounce off T-Rex for some points!

I agree that Mario Williams will be playing angry this season, with a huge chip on his shoulder because he wants EVERYBODY in the football world to know that the Bills used him in the wrong way and that he is NOT on his way out of this league. I think he can easily get 14 sacks this season. This front four could be one of the better D Lines in the league. I can't wait to see them play. And, as Cuch pointed out, yeah, we should be circling the Bills game. Aha

I said it here to Matt I believe that I fully expect Mario to have more sacks than OV does and I stand by that statement.
While it takes two to have an argument, it only takes one to walk away.

OV had 29 sacks in his 4 yr career, his season being his 2nd year when he surprised OL's who were watching Wake, and managed to get 11 sacks and one assist. last yr was his 2nd best with 7.5.
Williams has FIVE seasons with 10 or more sacks in his 10 yrs, and was injured in at least 3 of those other 5 yrs...
Wake has averaged 10 per year in his 7 seasons. I believe that your prediction is safe.
In fact, I would add that I believe that there will be at least two Phins with more sacks than Vernon this year...

It'll be interesting with Wake,Williams,Suh, Phillips, jones, branch and Jordan. Seems we will have pressure all day everyday with this group. Also a great mix of veteran and younger players.

Barring injury I would be quite surprised if Williams doesn't have more sacks than Vernon. Vernon doesn't have the supporting cast that Williams does. Plus I think Vernon was starting to show that he may become a great player, Williams IS a great player. Got it, Bills games circled!
