  • Evan Mathis Update

Looks like Seattle will get a crack at him

Former Eagles G Evan Mathis scheduled to visit Seahawks on Saturday, but uncertain if he will go, per source. Has interest from other teams.

Here's an interesting take on his potential visit to Seattle.

The Evan Mathis sweepstakes continue with a report that he may visit Seattle, but this is all just attempt to give the serious buyers to make an offer.
    Can we sign this guy?

I honestly think Mathis is desperate to join a team more so than a team is desperate to sign him. I have said all along that regardless of the guards Miami's line play rests squarely on Albert's play and health. Albert plays = OK line, Albert out = not Ok no matter who is at guard.

I agree about Albert. But to truly get where we are a contender we need Albert, healthy and playing at a high level all season PLUS better guard play. So the wish list is Albert and Mathis.

Drew Rosenhaus told Joe Rose that Mathis derby is down to three or four teams. Wouldn't discuss Dolphins, said deal somewhere "getting close."

Looks like Seattle is zeroing in on him.

Carroll says Evan Mathis is "coming in for a physical."

I feel like the Dolphins are happy with the guards they have and don't want to spend the rest of the cap they have for an aging player. This will give these guys a chance to develop instead of sitting on the bench. Might be a wise move. A more prudent move would have been taking a chance on La'ell Collins in the sixth round of the draft instead of a receiver that they are trying to switch to CB who will never see the field. I think they stand pat with what they have.
