I can't believe we would let Van Ginkel walk!
SHOULD have extended his four-year/$2,831,964 contract last year!

    BIG mistake
    HUGE!

Yeah, instead of re-signing RB2’s, 3’s and two RB5’s MAYBE they should re-sign more important players

AVG and Flowers are visiting the Patriots

They already signed a Top TE from the Dolphins, what’s next?

I can’t believe they are letting good players walk and division rivals are signing them for cheap

Players who were GOOD, even when the defensive scheme and coaching were NOT...

But at least we signed Jets WR Berrios, and gave Cracraft one more season!

Van Ginkel didnt do anything in his career that would have me regret losing him...

He was a SOLID backup, but he didn't move the needle enough to have regret over him trying to get more money.

How many years have passed with this AFC EAST “swapping” of players now, 20,30?!? . Whatever, same ol s**t every year. Parker last year to the pats, Giseiki this year. Punters, returners, blah blah. Still don’t understand this whole “all-in” talk from the media that the Dolphins are supposedly doing?? If that were true, & they wanted to correct/address a major change, it would be a trade for Henry. We know all rbs are re-signed, got it. But if they want a “game-changing”/Tua saving”player-difference maker for this year, look no further. I hope this happens come draft time. Just think of the diversity/dominance out of this offense with him. Especially considering Tua’s health/longevity concerns.

I was thinking the exact same thing Wulf, like why? Why has Greer not prioritized signing him?

Clue me into which games I should watch again...

I stand on my point that he's a solid back-up to Phillips. Let's not act like we're trading prime Jason Taylor here.

AVG excelled in a poorly managed defense!
Or to put another way, if Jerome Baker was worth $39 mill for 3 yrs, wouldn't AVG be worth far more than $700K a season?

                      And we aren't TRADING him.
We allowed his contract to expire, so he is not one of our players, and thus cannot be traded!
Last season was his "worst" so far, and I believe that the August appendectomy may have been a part of that...

                    No...

If I can replace him with a 3rd rounder for 1 million a year for 3 more years as opposed to what he would be getting for the same duration I'd be willing to bet that 3rd rounder can give us 0.5 sacks this year like Van Ginkel did...and this isn't saying that I'm happy with Baker's contract, but these are Flores' people, not Fangio's.

I really like AVG... But he is not elite... He is a team player and if he is willing to sign for a reasonable amount I want him back. To me he is like Duke Johnson... He plays hard and is a high-character guy... AVG has worked hard to improve as a pro... And I think he has earned a lot of respect in the locker room. Good coaching and talent are mere parts of the equation... Highly motivated coachable players make good teams great. We could use a few more Duke Johnsons and AVG's on this team.

He is not elite... but he is above average.

                      JMHO

It is a fair point made by DPhinz...

Fangio is here now and he will want to make his mark on the defence and bring in some new people. So AVG might be Bantam Fodder.

Be that as it may, it still might have been a smart move to try extending his low-$$$ contract,
and then TRY to trade him, IF Fangio didn't want him.

Actually yes, and YOU won't be replacing anybody. armchair GM!
                      (Thank GOD)
AVG may not be in Fangio's plans, but that doesn't mean he isn't a good player, or that this might come back on us in the future...

I believe that our defense will improve overall, so whoever we play in that position has a great opportunity to rack up better stats.

                        Armchair GM?

I thought this was a message board...

If I let you tell it, it's an echo chamber for Andrew Van Ginkle fanboys for chrissakes!

That right there tells me how little you think of yourself.
