  • Phins get their man! Fangio D

    The dolphins have agreed to terms with Vic Fangio on a deal that makes him the NFL’s highest-paid coordinator, per sources.

    It’s a 3-year deal with a 4th-year team option. Fangio, the former #Broncos coach, is one of football’s best defensive minds. Huge get for Mike McDaniel.

            Now...if only McDaniel could get an OC he trusts to call his plays he would have time to learn the HC nuances that cost us this year.

              the nuances were an issue but far from the main reason for our losses, failing to protect tua, but he calls a good to great game minus the nuances. When have we been able to say that in 20 years? Remember phiblin, gase, sparano? They were 10x worse. Be thankful for mm being a good oc overall, they are rare.

            This was pretty much the same response we saw when the team drafted Tua...

              I’m really excited about this news and will be more excited when it becomes “Official”

              Every news agency is saying the same thing EXCEPT NBC’s ProFootballTalk and some guy named Mike Klis

              I don’t know the rules enough to know if Fangio can’t officially sign with the Dolphins until after the Super Bowl

              It appears to be an AMAZING start to the offseason which I hope is just the beginning of things to come

              Will some defensive players want to come to Miami because of the Fangio hiring? (Can they afford these players?)

                Mike Silver is also denying the reports that the Dolphins deal with Fangio is confirmed

                Silver is not just saying the deal is NOT done but that Fangio is waiting to see what happens with the 49ers DC job

                That is TWO sources that both claimed to talk with Vic Fangio directly

                I can’t give you more information on what Mike Silver is saying because he has me BLOCKED 🤣🤣🤣🤣

                Why would he block me? I’m rarely on Twitter 🤣

                Failing to protect Tua?????

                Was that the thought when Tua was being mentioned in MVP conversations?

                Tua's problem is that he appears to be quite fragile. Simple tackles that have gone unnoticed for the 40+ years of me watching football have now made it to the front page because our QB doesn't know how to fall when he's tackled.

                  well, yeah him falling does seem to be an issue but the thing is the line was terrible most of the year as it was the last 15 years. Coach said he was gonna change it, he didn't. Also, when tua was first concussed in buffalo, was obvious to everybody, and coach didn't take him out. Even if he held him out for 3 games after that and we went 2-3 or 2-4 we probably would have ended up a lot better overall. The cincy concussion is what really messed him up which only came because the coach refused to care about the season rather than one stupid pointless game.

                Interesting tweet about the subject..

                Concerned the long-running feud between Steve Ross and Jed York could be interfering with Dolphins reeling in a big fish they THOUGHT they already caught. Could Jed York have phoned Vic Fangio and told him not to sign anything until the 49ers can put together an offer?

                This article details the feud between York & Ross, culminating in York taking out a TV ad on MNF a few months ago attacking Ross for being a “Trump supporter” and making “shady back room deals” with Santa Clara Mayor Gillmor, who York is trying to ouster.

                @MikeSilver
                who writes for the SF Chronicler. The same guy who reports that he spoke to Vic Fangio on the phone last night and Vic told him directly that nothing has been decided. Funny coincidence.

                All this could amount to a curious set of coincidences: feud between billionaire owners, persistent rumors SF might want Fangio if Demeco Ryan’s departed, 49ers getting bounced yesterday and Ryans getting the Houston job, a SF writer being the guy who spoke to Fangio directly…

                And Miami could still come out on top and get Fangio to put pen to paper. But is it possible York phoned up Fangio directly (bypassing Vic’s agent, who is Mike McDaniel’s agent) and said, don’t sign anything yet? Even if only to f—k with his rival Steve Ross? Yeah. I think so.

                If anyone read into this an implication that
                @MikeSilver
                is somehow helping Jed York, you are 1000% reading that wrong. I'd have thought it obvious by my citing Silver's scathing editorial about York's involvement in local politics. Evidently it needs saying, so I'm saying it.

                I'll be very happy when we get that official tweet and announcement from the Dolphins that they've inked Vic Fangio. Again, that could be and probably will be how this ends. But there have been a curious set of denials and conspicuous context along the way.

                And it tweet right before the above...

                From PETER KING: "Per NFL Network, Vic Fangio is due to take the Miami defensive coordinator post. I expect he’ll make a big star out of a very good player—free safety Jevon Holland, one of the top play-making safeties in football."

                LMAO... Only the Dolphins.. What I do find interesting is the Dolphins have said nothing.. But very reputable reporters and networks have said it's done.. My feeling is it is/was done. Fangio may be leveraging himself here. If 9ers are an option, Phins have huge financial advantage with the tax situation, especially San Fran and the local city taxes on top of the insane state bullshit California does. Also, how can you say he'll be the highest paid guy until you see what all DC's are paid in this hiring cycle?

                I think Fangio will be in Miami.. I think this is a lot of noise and there was way too much smoke to not have the fire here. I personally think until the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed Fangio will maintain it's not a done deal. But "no comment" sure seems like it would cause less speculation on your potential new employer.

                  I know Kauffman. Made a name for himself on my old site FinHeaven by being a draft guru. Smart guy and through his efforts got some part time work here and there with some media. But in the end everything he is saying is his speculation and he is no different than the fans here. He has no inside access. He just culls the media and makes an opinion.

                  more fuel for the fire, just stay with camp or get richards, fangio's system is boring and zone based anyways. Not always a bad thing when things don't go the way you wanted. Either way this is a win I see it, but i'd rather skip the system and fangio.
