  • My dream draft as of now

R1. DB Eli Apple - #13 might be a little high for him but I have seen some mocks recently that have the Raiders taking him at #14. Its not a deep class of corners and we desperately need another corner to start opposite Maxwell and I don't think we will be able to find one later in the draft and it doesn't look like we are going to sign Patrick Robinson.

R2. C Ryan Kelly - It looks like Pouncey is going to battle injuries again so we need to find his replacement. When Pouncey is healthy he can move to OG.

R3. OG Joshua Garnett - I think he is the 2nd best OG in the draft behind Cody Whitehair.

R4. LB Blake Martinez - I think he is almost as good as Reggie Ragland so Martinez is a much better value in the 4th round. I also think he could start right away at MLB which would allow Alonso to move to OLB so he can play in space and make better use of his athleticism.

R5. RB Kenyan Drake - He will backup Ajayi. Another use for him could be as a kickoff returner. Didn't he run a kickoff back for a TD in the national championship game.

R6. DE/DT Anthony Zettel - He can be used in our D-line rotation as a DT on passing downs and as a DE when we want to stop the run.

R7. WR Jordan Payton - He ran a surprisingly fast 4.47 at the combine. His game is similar to Matthews.

R7. QB Jacob Coker - Developmental QB.

I like this draft, all big school players, but I am thinking you want Miami to change colors to red and white with all the Bama and Stanford players...LOL You think Jordan Payton will be there in round 6? I have seen him listed as high as round 3. I think he goes somewhere in the 3rd or 4th round.

Yeah you are right Jordan Payton will probably be gone by the 6th round. I actually had us taking him in the 7th round. He had a very good combine and was productive at a big time college UCLA so his draft stock has risen and he will probably be taken in the 4th round.

If we do decide to add a WR I was thinking about Leonand Hankerson. He was productive for the Falcons last year but I don't know what happened with him and why he ended up out of the NFL.

Garnett would be a solid pick, if he was still available in the third round. With Poncey's injury issues it might be a good idea to pick up a center now. If only they would have listened to me and traded him last season, or the season before that one.

I am developing man-crushes on some mid to late rounders. You already know I like Brandon Allen. Now you can add guard Graham Glasgow to that list as well as CB Deiondre Hall. Travis Feeney might end up being a 5th round Dion Jordan. Jayron Kearse is another interesting player to me. Can he move over to FS or would it be better to move Jones to FS and let Kearse mop it up? These are just a few players I will be watching on draft day.

I like Drake.......I also like Prosise too, maybe better than Drake.

Its hard to tell if Garnett will be available in the 3rd round. Most experts think he is either the 2nd or 3rd best OG in the draft. Cody Whitehair's stock has risen sharply and I have seen him mocked as high as #18 to the Colts who might need o-line help more than we do. If thats the case are there really going to be no OG's taken until we select in the 3rd round? Thats highly unlikely. I would expect the Pats might take him with one of their late 2nd round picks since they also need o-line help. So we might have to take him or Alexander with our 2nd round pick whoever we like better. I think Garnett has more athleticism to him and Alexander might be a liability in pass protection thats why I like Garnett better. Then I like your idea of drafting another OG especially one who can also play Center later in the draft. Do you think Glasgow will be available in the 5th round?

I like Procise better than Drake also. In fact Procise has been compared to David Johnson the Cardinals rookie RB from last year who looked like a young Matt Forte. We would probably have to take him in the 3rd round if we want him.

I think we should then address the LB position in the 4th round. I like Blake Martinez there. His measurables are similar to Ragland. I know Ragland is better but I think Martinez can be a quality starter at MLB and Alonso might be better suited to play at OLB.

I would then be happy with a draft like this.

R1. DB Eli Apple - I like him better than McKenzie Alexander who I think might have to play in the slot because of his size. I think Apple could be this years Marcus Peters.

R2. OG Joshua Garnett - I would try to see if we could trade down a bit and acquire another 4th or 5th round pick since he probably wouldn't otherwise be taken until the end of the 2nd round.

R3. CJ Procise - Like I said he has been compared to Cardinals rookie phenom David Johnson.

R4. LB Blake Martinez - He should be able to start at MLB right away.

R5. OG/C Graham Glasgow - His ability to also play Center gives us more depth and options.

I am not sure if Glasgow will be available in the 5th round but if he was I would draft him with no hesitation.

Unfortunately the Dolphins front office sat on their hands during the start of free agency and that is why you had to create a mock draft like the ones above. I know these are not your first choices, since you are like me and many others and wanted to go mostly defense in this draft. But, that is now how the front office played it so now they should address the o-line in the draft no matter what.

I like Apple. I am not sure which corner will be better in the NFL but I like his size and athleticism. Garnett and Glasgow would make great draft picks and would compete for starting jobs. If not this year, the following year these two draft picks would push Thomas and Turner...............off the roster. I agree with you about Martinez. He would be a solid pick.

Walterfootball rated Graham Glasgow as a 3rd to 5th round prospect. Here are some late round sleeper prospects that I like.

RB/KR Tyler Ervin - San Jose St. - He is small 5'9 180 but has 3 KO and 2 punt returns for TD's in his career. He had 1600 rushing yards scoring 13TD's and had 45 receptions for 330 yards in 2015. He could challenge Damien Williams as our 3rd down back and a potential return specialist.

RB Keith Marshall - Georgia - He ran the fastest 40 time at the combine 4.31 and he has decent size at 5'11 220.

LB Antonio Morrison - Florida - He was a solid LB for the Gators. I don't know why he is not more highly thought of.

FS Sean Davis - Maryland - Good size 6'1 200 and he ran a 4.46 at the combine and a good tackler.

DE/OLB Stepehen Weatherly - Vanderbilt - He is Dion Jordanesque in terms of his size and athleticism. 6'4 267 and he ran a 4.61 at the combine. We need to decide if he is more of a DE or OLB.

OG Rees Odhiambo - Boise State - A very good blocker and under the radar prospect.

I've heard of s few of your favorites. Weatherly is the one who jumps out at me the most. He would be s nice late round picks up.

It's really hard to predict how the guard position will do in this draft but it should get interesting.
