It's being reported that the Fins had numerous conversations with the agent for James Starks before he decided to re-sign with the Pack...Maybe we should have a pool on which will be signed first; a RB or a Guard?!...Though we do at least seem to know what a RB is and are trying to sign one!!

my guess is that no guard will be signed in free agency, unless it's after the draft where they can pick up some other teams garbage. As far as running backs are concerned, I think there is a chance they they sign someone soon but for the most part it will be the same thing, signing someone else's discarded player. They should just wait for the draft and not waste their money."If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking." - George S. Patton

Getting lost in all these RB threads... there are like 6 of them discussing the same stuff.
Best Available:
Arian Foster 29 HOU
Joique Bell 29 DET
Toby Gerhart 28 JAC
Reggie Bush 31 SF
Alfred Morris 27 WAS
Bobby Rainey 28 TB
Lance Dunbar 26 DAL
Anthony Dixon 28 BUF
Stevan Ridley 27 NYJ
LeGarrette Blount 29 NE
Ronnie Hillman 24 DEN
Right now we have Ajayi, Williams and Jahwan Edwards on the roster. We picked up Edwards from the Jags before FA...

Looks like we'll still use the ZBS and Morris thrived in that system under Shanahan in Washington as a one cut runner. The Redskins went back to a man blocking scheme and Morris's production went downhill. If Morris can catch out of the backfield well he can be a perfect fit in Gases O. If anything Morris will be able to run the ball well in this system.

Alfred Morris would be a good pickup but not a great one in my opinion. He is not an every down back and he isn't a 3rd down back who you could use in the passing game. I think Foster would be the best RB to grab in free agency and not because of the "big name" but because he is a elite running back, when healthy, and he has great hands. IF the Dolphins signed him they wouldn't have to rush him into the lineup. They could draft a running back and use Ajayi and the rookie to wear defenses down and then when HEALTHY, they could bring Foster in on passing downs and just mop up defenses. In Foster's career he has only played TWO full seasons but I think if the coaches used him in a different way, in a situational role until he was 100%, he would add a dimension to the Dolphins offense that we haven't seen in a long time, possibly ever.
The Patriots offense is getting scary with the addition of Martellus Bennett and when you couple that with the fact that they were able to get their offensive line guru, Dante Scarnecchia, to come out of retirement, this Patriots team is going to be way better then last years team. In fact, I will go so far as to say that the 2016 Patriots would kick the butts of the 2015 Patriots. The Patriots defense has taken a step back but C'mon, man, it's Belichick, he never has a bad defense. It's time to step up the Dolphins offense because their defense seems to be heading in the right direction. Sign Arian Foster and bring a new dimension to this Dolphins offense. With Foster coming out of the backfield, and Cameron and SIms used the right way, the Dolphins offense COULD look similar to the Patriots."If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking." - George S. Patton

I wonder if these running backs are not coming to Miami because of that weird rumor that is going around that the front office doesn't know what a guard is and doesn't know how to build a quality offense line for them to run behind?"If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking." - George S. I agree, and this was what i meant in my comment on your other post regarding Morris..I actually like Morris but i don't think he can catch at all, and i'm pretty sure in the O that Gase is gonna be implementing, the feature back is gonna be asked to catch a lot of passes out of the backfield..
If Arian Foster is anywhere near healthy i would definitely take a chance on him, unless of course he's still looking for elite money...

I read he was just going to sit back and wait to see how things play out. He is in no hurry. He plans to just sit tight and wait for the draft go by and possibly even until teams get desperate and/or have an injury. It sounds like he might be waiting for a pay day. The Dolphins are always in a tough spot because they don't want to pay players much BUT they don't offer the players a chance to win anything. They need to understand they need to build a playoff team BEFORE they can start being so picky and lowballing players. The Patriots make it seem like they are doing the players a favor by signing them, and since they feel like they have a shot at a Super Bowl they sign with them. I wonder if the Dolphins will ever be in that position?
