  • CJ Anderson Countdown

1 Day & Counting!!!.............Bronc's must decide by tomorrow if they're gonna match the Fins offer, something i think they're pretty intent on doing (Otherwise why take the whole 5 days??!!!). IMO, had they planned on just letting CJ walk they would've said straight-away that that was their intention rather than leaving Anderson (who i assume they have great respect for) hanging for 5 days. When Buffalo's Chris Hogan was recently signed to an offer sheet by the Pats, the Bills said right away they weren't going to match, it's usually a common courtesy thing, that is unless it is a really tough decision and the team is trying its best to work out keeping the player...

Anyway, we'll know one way or the other by the end of the business day tomorrow..and we'll know whether we have our new all-prupose back or whether we're left to sift through the dregs to find a suitable complement for Ajayi...

The conventional wisdom was that when the Dolphins signed Broncos running back C.J. Anderson to a restricted free agent offer sheet, he was all but theirs. But with a day left for Broncos executive John Elway to make a decision, it might be closer than many thing.According to Peter King of TheMMQB.com, it’s not a lock [more]

I heard that the Donkeys have no intention of signing CJ, so he'll be a Dolphin

Not so sure,, IMO, they're still contemplating the situation..otherwise they would've just said so outright.

They might be scrambling around for the next two days trying to figure out what to do with their quarterback situation so they can feel confident in re-signing Anderson. Without having that QB locked up and knowing how much money they are going to need to speed on that position, it's really hard for the Broncos to commit to signing him. I think Elway should have signed Fitzpatrick and Anderson and then drafted a QB in the mid rounds. He didn't do that so now that mistake, in my opinion, may pay off for the Dolphins.

My thoughts are that Drunk Elway hasn't stopped partying, if he had of offered CJ 2.5M to begin with then he would have received a draft pick for losing CJ, but too late now...

Also I'm sure Drunk Elway was mumbling about wanting some escort to come in and give him a dirty Sanchez, man when he sobers up he's gonna be really PO'd at the idiot who hire Mark Sanchez.........

I'm reading that they are still trying to determine if they can afford to keep him. They made a mistake on this one. Tendering him for "like draft compensation" when he was a UFA signing was a complete brain fart. They could have used a 2nd rd tender and ensured no one would pick him up and it would have cost them just over $2.5 million, which is $800k more than the tender they used. I can see Elway matching just so he doesn't look like a complete idiot because the national and local media is starting to question a few of the decisions he has made, with CJ being a big one.

Over at Bronco forum they are saying Elway won't match cause he doesn't want to admit his mistake. We shall see.

I agree with you on this one but there is one major concern with Elway trying to figure out a way to keep Anderson, if for nothing else to not look foolish. If he does sign him to this front loaded deal, he might not have enough money to sign a QB that they desperately need, not to mention be able to fill all the holes that the team has to fill now. As I stated above, he should have signed Fitzpatrick and Anderson to fair deals and he wouldn't have looked so bad. Fitzpatrick is not an elite QB but with that defense they don't need one and Fitzpatrick would outperform both "aging Manning" and Brock right now. JMO

Broncos re-signed restricted free agent RB C.J. Anderson to a four-year, $18 million contract.

Cue the sad trombone for the Dolphins, who had supposedly structured Anderson's offer so the Broncos couldn't match it. With their quarterback situation remaining unsettled, the Broncos decided they couldn't lose a runner who was easily their best back last season, and one of their most important players down the stretch each of the past two years. Now the undisputed lead back for an offense that will likely be dramatically more run heavy in 2016, Anderson and his three-down skill-set should provide RB1 value in fantasy leagues.

Yeah, I would have liked to have him. Looks like we'll be drafting one. Hopefully not before the 4th round.

The Fins ALWAYS seem to be a day late & a dollar short..They either don't recognize the talent they have on their roster or realize it too late; they could've had Lamar Miller locked up last season but chose not to and then expected to be able to keep him for 4.5 mill., i personally don't think Lamar is worth much more than 5, but i believe they could've locked him up last season with a longterm deal at 4-5 mill. per...So now we've lost the best back we've had in a while, we didn't go after Forte, we lost out on his potential replacement in CJ and if the braintrust was thinking they might take a long, hard look at Zeke Elliot in the draft, to carry the load, he'll be long gone by the time they pick @ 13, after swapping slots in the trade,, Hell, wouldn't be surprised if the Eagles took him at 8!!!

I don't think there's much left out there in FA, so we're pretty much screwed,, and i don't believe Ajayi can carry the load for a whole season, sigh-h-h...

Should they have tagged Miller instead of OV and put a 2nd round tender on him?

Not sure, what was the cost for that tender??..As i said i don't believe he's worth much more than 5 mill. per, my point was they probably could've locked him up before this past season for a team friendly contract but they seem to never want to deal with their own players 'til it's too late...

I agree with you on that one. They feel it might disrupt the season or something. When everyone knows that you're not going to make the playoffs in October, I think it would be okay with the players to negotiate a contract during the season since they have nothing really else to look forward to.
