The Dolphins have signed OL Jermon Bushrod to a one-year deal. Details coming.

The Dolphins signed another veteran lineman, but this one is more of a depth signing.According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins have signed former Bears tackle Jermon Bushrod to a one-year deal. The 31-year-old Bushrod will come in as cover for oft-injured left tackle Branden Albert and right tackle Ja’Wuan James, but the [more]The happiness of the Dolphin is to exist.... The question Miami Dolphins fans have been asking over and over is, "What about the guards?"
Well, the Dolphins just signed veteran offensive lineman Jermon Bushrod to a one-year deal this evening. And the team sees him as a strong possibility as a starting guard as well as a backup tackle.
Bushrod, 31, played only 12 games last season because he suffered a shoulder injury. The Dolphins believe he will be 100 percent and ready to compete by the start of training camp in July and perhaps sooner.
That is not all. The Dolphins expect to address the guard position again in the draft if the chips fall in the proper order.
And if they don't ...
The club is putting both Dallas Thomas and Billy Turner, starters a year ago, on a significant weight training program this offseason in hopes both can improve as players.
That's it. That's the answer.
Bushrod is a fig leaf to angry fans wanting upgrade and new people. Perhaps he can regain the form he showed during his days in New Orleans and then again in Chicago. If not, the team will move forward toward other possibilities.

Did Ross sign a deal with Goodell that he would make sure that the Dolphins are just an average football team until Brady and Belichick retire?
How can some many different coaches, general managers and front office personnel think the same two dumb players can be starters? Isn't being a starter on the worst offensive line in the NFL a clue that there is a major problem somewhere on the line? It isn't the Pro Bowl left tackle. It isn't the Pro Bowl center. It isn't the future Pro Bowl right tackle. THE PROBLEM IS BOTH GUARD SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vandal Alexander in the 2nd round is the pick.
I can't stand Tannenbaum and Ross is the worst owner ever.

Bushrod began last season as the Bears' left tackle, but permanently fell out of the starting lineup in favor of Charles Leno after Bushrod suffered a concussion in Week 3 against Seattle. He appeared in just 12 games in 2015 and also dealt with a chronic back injury for much of the year.
The Bears let him go in February after failing a physical. Why did he fail the physical? The better question is why are the Dolphins signing all these injured players?

Vadal Alexander or Cody Whitehair either one would be very good picks in the 2nd...
This is what I was worried about... they looked at these guys tape and ages and are making the same damned mistake that Philbin's staff did - they think they are good enough coaches to get these guys to play well. Neither have the talent to do so.
Can't put this solely on Tbaum. The staff are telling him they can win with these guys. Gase is Ross' guy. He going to get what he wants the first two seasons.

I can blame Ross and Tannenbaum. ..............Tannenbaum is running the show. He had been around long enough that he should know better. He should know more than anyone on this forum that these two morons can't protect any QB in the league. Others have tried to coach them up and failed. Either the league is full of egomaniacs or the NFL is as rigged as the WWF because it's hard to contemplate people getting paid this much money to succeed but keep failing over and over and over again.

Are we really talking about moving Pouncy to OG AGAIN? Pouncy is a top shelf pro bowl NFL CENTER. Did we NOT learn anything from the Pouncy to OG experiment? Let me remind us that when Satele was C we became a lot weaker at C (the second most important position on the Oline) and a little better at RG (the least important position on the Oline) where Pouncy was not as good. Pouncy is a NFL CENTER not a NFL OG, FACT!

More like 2nd shelf... Personally, I wish we'd traded Pouncey a couple years ago and picked up Mack last year from the Browns or drafted someone. Pouncey hasn't played an entire season in 3 years and struggled last season shotgun snaps leading us to tie an NFL record for bad snaps and safeties. He's good down field after the snap, but struggles with line calls.
In 2014, the OL play and protection was better when Satale was at Center and Pouncey was at guard. Tannehill and Miller both has career years.
I'm not advocating creating new hole, but Pouncey gets by on name recognition IMO.
