  • Rishard Matthews to Titans

3 year deal... Glad the Titans got him. Reported that the Pats made him an offer.

How much money did he get? At least he didn't go to a division rival.

Good for Rishard. Good young QB, nice young team.

Nice of Rishard to spurn the Pats... 3 year deal is all that was reported. Haven't see the cash numbers.

Good for him. He deserved it after what the Dolphins did to him.

Hate seeing him go....I think he will continue to get better and we'll regret it (as usual).

I think this was a mistake. We will have to wait and see but in my opinion they will wish they had him over Stills.

Maybe the best 7th rounder in a long while.

To put it bluntly,, this sucks ass!!! I love the way Rishard plays & he seriously has some talent...but don't worry guys, at least we've picked up Byron Maxwell with his bum shoulder, Kiko with his bum knee, a SS when we need a FS; whose name no one can pronounce and Sam Young, whoever the hell that is!

Not sure why Rishard's deal hasn't been published. Still no news on his contract with the Titans other than "3 year deal"... weird.

                  FINALLY -

Rishard Matthews signed a 3 year, $15,000,000 contract with the Tennessee Titans, including $5,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $5,000,000
Wow... that's a steal for Matthews. He could end up being the Titans best WR already. Not sold on Green-Beckham or the rest of their receivers.

Too bad he didn't get that to stay. I like going with the known NFL playmaker (Matthews) than hoping for Parker and others to become that. That isn't a knock on Parker - I think he'll be great - but so far he's an injury question mark with potential. Stills? Not bad, but not Matthews. Hazel? Potential.

I'd be fine lining up Parker and Matthews and Landry in the slot. Guess Miami feels they don't need that talent. Weakening a 6-10 team is definitely the path to a championship baby!

Not sure what he did to turn the franchise against him but i thought the negative feelings towards him would've left when Philbin was ousted...Excellent talent & toughness at a reasonable rate, similar to a Derrick Shelby; seems like we're in no position to toss aside players with that combo! Oh yeah, i forgot to add these guys are young as well!!!

Bad taste still in his mouth, it may not be just Philbin, it could reach higher than that, players aren't all stupid, these guys know a winning organization and the foundation of a winning organization....my guess is that it has something to do with the upper guys to the uppest guy, JMO

Possibly goes back to my conspiracy theory; Ross & Tannenbaum are really just closet Jets fans and they're not really trying to build a winning organization!

I can't argue with your theory, I have no evidence to bring to the table that says your theory has holes in it, the only holes are on this team, and we aren't patching them up....

Youth and maturity issues aside, the knock on Matthews was intellect and not knowing as much of the offense as the coaches wanted. That said, he was a favorite of Tannehill, who spent time with him each off-season working one on one with him. I wished we could have kept him as he was really good first part of last season.

From reports, both the Fins and the Pats were offering him $4M a season. The Titans stepped in and offered him $5M per with $5M guaranteed. If he and Mariota thrive together, expect that to be redone after 2 and him to get a much larger paycheck.

Really happy he turned down the Pats, but as always - cash trumps all.

Not sure if it was immaturity or a case of the tail waggin' the dog; i know if i'm treated like shit i tend to want to bite back...Philbin was great at putting guys in the doghouse, holding grudges and getting rid of talent that didn't tend to agree with every little thing he laid out there..Cash generally trumps all, but if we had wanted him he probably would've stayed...

I agree on Philbin, but you also have to take into account the comments from Sherman and Lazor about Matthews... both alluded to him not picking up the offense or what his assignments were. It was also reported that Tannehill had to spoon feed him the offense.

Agree... and I have to think that Gase and his coaches weren't interested.

I wonder how many good, young, HEALTHY players the Dolphins missed out on by low balling them? Matthews is worth every bit of 5 million. CJ Anderson isn't going to sign for peanuts so why bother bringing him in? To attempt to fool the fans ?

I think I know what the problem was in Miami. Matthews was a 7th rounder. The Dolphins (based on evidence of many many years) just could never accept that they drafted a very talented player in the 7th. They never trusted Matthews. A talented starter taken with a late round pick? Crazy thinking.
