  • Dolphins Sign FS Isa Abdul-Quddus

Delmas suffered the same injury last summer, causing him to miss the entire 2015 season and leaving the Dolphins in need of safety help again this offseason. They went back to the same place they found Delmas to get one.

According to multiple reports, the team has signed Isa Abdul-Quddus shortly after the league officially opened for business on Wednesday afternoon. Abdul-Quddus played in every game for the Lions over the last two seasons and started 12 times. He had 57 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble last season.

Abdul Quddus joins Reshad Jones, Walt Aikens and the re-signed Michael Thomas at safety in Miami. Jones will start at one spot, leaving the other options to compete for the job next to him in the secondary.

Dolphins agreed to terms with S Isa Abdul-Quddus, formerly of the Lions, on a three-year, $12.75 million contract.

Abdul-Quddus actually stepped in nicely as an eight-game starter for the Lions last season, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 1 overall safety from Week 10 on after replacing SS James Ihedigbo in the starting lineup. It's a good get for Miami, as at the very least, Abdul-Quddus will be an asset on special teams. He'll get the first crack at the starting gig next to SS Reshad Jones.

We love our Lions safeties... know nothing about this guy, but he HAS to be better than Aikens and Thomas. Right?

I thought we could have signed Gipson for not much more money.

It would have been a much better move. This is a special teams move that just wastes fans time while they Google search who this player is.

Actually Gipson got $35M over 5 years from the Jags so he was considerably more expensive. I read some good things on Abdul-Quddus and he should be an upgrade over what we have had at FS.

Hell, he'd have to be by default. Still hoping we draft a true FS.

Reggie Nelson and Weddle are still available. Why not sign one of these guys??

PFF giving us kudos on Quddus...

                    https://www.profootballfocus.com/blo...gent-bargains/

With free agency kicking off next week, we took a look at the top bargain players set to hit the open market.
                    1. Isa Abdul-Quddus, SS (Lions)

Nothing has come easy for Isa Abdul-Quddus in his NFL career. After entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2011, Abdul-Quddus developed into a serviceable backup for the New Orleans Saints in his first couple of years. It wasn’t until 2015 that he was afforded an extended run as a starter in Detroit, and he responded with an impressive sequence of performances. Abdul-Quddus bounced back from a terrible game against the Bears in Week 6 by finishing with a +9.4 cumulative grade in his last eight games. Ultimately, he finished the year with an 80.1 grade, ranking 19th amongst safeties.

Abdul-Quddus was particularly effective against the run, recording a stop percentage in the top 20, as well as positive grades in coverage and as a pass-rusher. Considering his experience both at centerfield and in the box, Abdul-Quddus is one of the more intriguing options in this stacked crop of free agents safeties.

He should free Jones up to roam more and be able to interchange with Jones in the box. Quddus has experience playing both Safety spots.

We really don't need him to catch a lot of INTs, just be competent, take the right angles, make tackles, and be able to play all over the field. If he can be as decent as Clemons was with Jones, we've gotten a huge upgrade from Aikens and Thomas.

DARIAN THOMPSON....please in the 2nd round...I know it might hurt...emotionally taking another player from Boise state...aka Jamar Taylor...but he's worth the price

The scary thing that might happen....

With the Jag signing Gipson...could you image if Ramsey slid to 8 and we traded out of that pick....

                      I'll cry brov....I'll honestly shed a tear

Ramsey shouldn't get past the Chargers. They were willing to allow Weddle go for a reason.
