Lamar Miller is looking really good!

Ryan Tannehill is looking GREAT! <-------------------Yes, I said GREAT!

    The Dolphins DEFENSE looks unstoppable!

Earl Mitchell looks like he wants to make the Pro Bowl this season!

It's only the first quarter but this Dolphins team looks really good. Hopefully Pouncey's injury isn't anything serious. Did the Dolphins find a new punter?

Sounds good, hard for me to tell what's going on with just the play by play. It sounds good but I want to see it for myself.

Well, you know that I am extremely critical so if I LIKE what I am seeing, you will LOVE what you see. Aha (I hope you know what I mean) I think you will be really impressed with Tannehill because he looked really good. I would have to watch it again to find a fault, if there was one. Maybe surveying the field more to look at Cameron and others. If this is a glimpse of what Tannehill and this offense is going to do this season, Tannehill should have a HUGE season. Pouncey went down so again, this o-line is the key to the success. This defense is crazy good! Everybody on the starting d- line looked like Pro Bowl players. I can't wait for you and others to watch it.

My concern is we have no backup to Tannehill worth a lick. Matt Moore has changed his name to Matt Less and I didn't see enough out of either of the other two to overtake him. Tanny gets hurt and we are sooooo screwed.

There are always differences of opinion on a football forum but the QB situation in Miami is something everyone agrees on. The backup quarterbacks for the Dolphins look to be the worst in the league. There is hope though, but that would require for us fans to have hope in our coaching staff. Do they see what we see? I haven't seen every team play but I have seen many and it seems to me that every team has backup QB's that are better than what the Dolphins has. So there is hope that this coaching staff sees what we see and actually go out and sign a QB that gets cut in the next week.

All three of the Bills QB's lit it up today and Manuel usually does suck so I guess there is always hope. I just have no faith in the three we have backing up Tanny.

I think someone has hijacked Freaks account. Matt you may want to look into this...LOL

I didn't see the game, but from what I am reading Lazor did a brilliant job and did just what I said. Relied on a heavy run game and short passes. I know it's not sexy, but until the O Line has all the starters in place this is what we are going to see. Miami may need to ride the shoulders of the defense early in the season until Albert is back and close to 100%. The good thing is that they may have the defense to do it. Tannehill seems to have grown with his pocket presence and absolutely with his timing and ball placement. I said it a few months ago and I will still say it, he's going to have a HUGE year.

The only player that looks like a QB, that we have behind Tanny, is (did I say this?) Josh Freeman, and he hasn't been very good for the most part of his career...
Hope that we can add some depth in the coming week, because it seems that half of the current roster barely has a pulse...

I think Freeman is our best option of the current roster. But within the next week there will be 1184 unemployeed NFL hopefuls or former players. We HAVE to be able to find someone to fill some of our holes.

I said in one of the threads last night that Freeman has the most upside at this point so I agree with you. Moore can hit the door right now as far as I'm concerned, he's been paid pretty damn good to hold a clip board for the last three years.

A very strange game indeed; one of those games where it seemed like we were dominating every phase through the first half, then looking at the scoreboard going into the locker room at halftime and we're up by a single point!

Just a couple of thoughts to add, first agree BIG-TIME with DF about Earl 'the WHIRLpool' Mitchell, the guy has been absolutely STUDLY and looks like he's benefitting the most playing alongside Suh - Speaking of Suh, this guy is just such a dominant force; if he stays healthy he's gonna be worth every penny he signed for!! AJ Francis has been a beast as well...

Dallas Thomas started out pretty solid but faded fast, badly missed a block giving up a TFL & killing the drive right before the half & another almost getting Matt Moore killed..Pouncey suffered the knee injury; we better pray to the Football Gods it's minor (Maybe sacrifice a goat or Philbin or something..) Tannehill looked solid, that pass to Landry that ended up going 46 yds. was a beauty, nice touch as it was just dropped right over the LB. I think with the OLine being in such disarray, the gameplan was to use the quick-game with Tannehill (getting passes out super quick, not worrying so much about standing tall in the pocket & trying to move the chains) so as not to leave him vulnerable back there..Not real pretty, pretty damn boring, but definitely worked in keeping RT upright & untouched the whole time he was out there. What was pretty disappointing was the first team starting drives twice in Falcon territory & not a point to show for it...

I was pleased that we finally put consistent pressure on the QB - We were super disruptive back there & i believe we ended up with 6 sacks...Not sure why we haven't been able to come up with any takeaways, i know we got that one late to ice the game but we haven't done a good job of forcing turnovers; seems we've been a second late getting to the ball when it's on the ground or we've dropped the INT when it's been right in our hands. IMO, we're gonna have to do a way better job of forcing turnovers for this team to excel! That said, i was super impressed with Fede's hustle on that kickoff when he was the second guy down & almost recovered that fumble!

Watched the game last night, reviewed the recording again this morning. I agree with a lot of what is in this thread, I have these takeaways from the game.

Tannehill is playing his best football yet, but he clearly is looking for Landry, Miller, Williams and Mathews more than any of the new guys he isn't as familiar with YET. This will only get better as the season progresses. We also need to remember that this offense can play it safe, don't risk turn overs and injuries to key players. Take what the defense gives you because our defense is giving them nothing!

Miller is a man on a mission, playing with a lot of intensity and effort in all phases of the game.

Offensive fire power is only going to increase as Stills, Parker, Jordan become better acclimated to this team.

I cannot say enough about the starting defense. Wake, Suh, Mitchell and Vernon used Ryan and backups as a pinata all night long. They played as well as the most optimistic had hoped for, but..... and here is the scary part. Even when backups sprinkled into the line we generated so much pressure with JUST the 4 linemen and 7 in coverage that Atlanta struggled to get plays off. The rest of the Miami defense has not yet adjusted to what is happening. When the LBs and DBs start to realize that there will be no linemen at the second level blocking. You don't need an 8 yard cushion on a receiver because you only need to cover him for 3 seconds. The DBs will also learn that once you get to a 3 count, jump the route, the ball is on the way or it won't be coming at all. This defense already looks as good as any in the NFL and they haven't even started to gel yet. In the second half of the season I think you will see one of the most dominant defenses in NFL history and guess what, they are all young, this could be the forming of a dynasty!

The much criticized young players on this team, OL, LBs, Safeties, Special Teams and DL are all Ballers! These guys have great skills, don't always know what to do with it. They make mistakes as young players do, but they are all athletic and competitive. Very good sign for the future. You can teach someone to play, but you can't teach talent. I see a lot of guys like Byrd, Luc, Vigil and many others that I don't want to lose. This years practice squad is going to be real important to the future depth of this team.

I agree that Moore has fallen apart. He not only doesn't make plays, he gives the ball away. As I described in the offense above, you just cannot do that on this team. If you go 3 and out, it's okay, this D will cover you, but you can't give away the ball, short fields and defensive scores. I also think Freeman is our best #2 QB right now and we should be checking the waiver wires carefully.

I know that everyone here is a passionate fan, try to dispel your concerns so that you can fully enjoy what is about to happen. This very well could be the most talented team in Dolphin history. The important pieces are young and in place for several years to come. This team will absolutely improve in every area as the year unfolds. Tannehill and Suh are the only players we don't have adequate replacements for. There is no team in the NFL we cannot beat right now! By this time next year, there will be no team that should beat us! I see multiple rings in this team's future.

To be fair, I didn't say this year or consecutively, but I don't think it's unrealistic in the next 5 years for this team to win more than 1. I am stoked right now. I realize our biggest question is still at Head Coach. But I don't think he is a bad coach just way over conservative. With this bunch, not sure it matters, and if we replace him after this year, who wouldn't want to coach this team?

Very optimistic! I hope you're right! The defense looks great and that's what win Championships IMO, but I'm concerned about Depth when the injuries start multiplying. Let hope it doesn't... RT looks crisp and his release looks the quickest I've seen yet.. Great sign of progression. Miller looks beefed up and seems to have better power and vision. Another great sign. I hope when the season starts we see a major improvement on 3rd downs, Redzone attacks and they can finish the 4th quarter with authority,, Go Dolphins!!!!!!

Nice post, DM ! I totally agree with what your opinion is on the game and on the team and its future. I couldn't help but notice that RT does focus most of his attention on the receivers he feels comfortable with. I can't wait until he starts to develop a rapport with Jordan Cameron. He just kept running routes and not getting any looks.

Anyone else getting confused with Jordan Cameron's name? We have Dion Jordan, Jordan Tripp and now Jordan Cameron...........not to mention that there is also a Cameron Jordan who plays with the Saints, who has the exact opposite names and the Dolphins new tight end. AHA

I probably would get confused by the name though i don't really have to worry about it because we never seem to throw his way...Hopefully we'll integrate him and do so quickly because he can be an absolute stud all over the field, but obviously to do that we have to get him the ball once in awhile...
