  • JR Sweezy??

As Alpha posted in a previous thread it's being reported (by Mando, so take it fwiw!!) that the Fins have expressed serious interest in Seattle FA Guard JR Sweezy (along with about 10 other teams) My question is why?? First off, with Seattle showing no interest in re-signing Sweezy, and Sweezy pretty much being JAG at the position, i wonder why the Fins (and so many others, for that matter) are so interested..With our Guard play having been so-o-o-o freakin' terrible for so-o-o-o freakin' long i just can't wrap my head around why we refuse to 'seriously' address the problem; why we keep on shopping in the clearance aisle when we should be looking for a stud, SMH...

Can seattle really afford to lose any more OL? Along with Miami, they had one of the worst OL in the league

I get that we have the worst starting OG duo (or trio) in all the NFL, but not sure Sweezy is a clear upgrade. He's JAG. That the Seahawks seem to care less about bringing him back is not a good sign either.

Getting Alonso and Maxwell in FA means we can target an OLman in the 3rd or 4th.

yeah, that's pretty much what i'm saying..We never really seem to seriously address this problem that's been a serious problem for like forever...Personally i feel waiting til the 3rd or 4th to draft a guy isn't really addressing the problem either, JMO...

You're probably right, but we seem to always go after high dollar FAs that other teams drafted somewhere outside of the 1st round... we're after Sweezy, who was a 7th rounder... Maxwell a 6th... etc...

The Dilphins need to go after the BEST free agent possible when addressing the offensive line. Every new coaching staff does the same thing, they bring in these average or below average players thinking it is going to make a difference. It's not. As Dolphins fans we know this. We have been watching this same show for over a decade. Go after the best or none at all. If you don't sign the best in free agency they will need to draft the best guards because this offensive line desperately needs help, asap !!

Couldn't agree more, this is a below average team, that's because that is who we like on the team, give up the greats and settle for the average Joes.....

It's almost like they view the Guard position the same as most view the punter & placekicker,, they're not really football players so we don't want to pay 'em too much...

Proly cause our last 2 HCs were ex-OL coaches... they get a big say in who gets drafted and when they're thumping for low rounders or ex-buddies, that what they get.
