  • Grimes to be released!

I'm really torn on this one. I like Grimes and think he could still be a solid CB for us the next few seasons. Can't stand that loudmouth, America hating wife of his though. I'm not surprised he didn't want to take a pay cut because the guy has been waiting for that contract for a long time. With that said this will leave us extremely light in an area of big need for us.

Jenkins better be on the radar along with a reasonably priced vet and a high drafted rookie this season, either first or 2nd round.
Not Inbred... Just keeping it in the family 💯🤣🤣

The Dolphins aren’t afraid of making big moves in March — in either direction.

According to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Dolphins are expected to cut Pro Bowl cornerback Brent Grimes, after he refused a pay cut.

The Dolphins signed Grimes to a four-year, $32 million deal in 2014, and he was due $8 million this year. He’ll create $6.5 million in cap space, but leaves a big hole in the depth chart, and makes cornerback a big priority in either free agency or the draft.

The news coincides with their interested in trading for Eagles cornerback Byron Maxwell, as well.

His play on the field certainly doesn’t merit his release, but Grimes can’t be viewed in a vacuum. His wife Miko has become a considerable distraction, ripping quarterback Ryan Tannehill and reporters who cover the team in a Twitter rant.

While that might not necessarily have anything to do with her husband’s level of play, it does make it easier to take a big number off the books.

There's a rumor that Lauren ''slighted'' Miko by not inviting her to a Player's wives get together last off-season. Then Omar gave this trash a ''media'' voice. Not sure what her beef is with Armando other than him mentioning her ghetto behavior and arrest in his DID blog. Regardless, good riddance to her.

A shame as I'd have been happy to retain Grimes at a MUCH cheaper price tag.

Sorry. I didn't see your thread when I was creating mine. I can't delete it myself so hopefully someone will.

Dan, I thought there was a way to merge threads but I just tried it with a thread FF61 made that was a duplicate to DF's thread and all it did was merge Aqua's post with 61's, so I don't know. I ended up deleting it just as you did.

Gace is making the right moves, Grimes couldn't cover a snail last year, he was always on the ground and out of position.

That along with his Biatch wife, he's nothing but a cancer and this team is doing exactly as they should getting rig of this coward....

Already liking what I see....except I would have cut Grimes along time ago, JMO

the fact that he refused to take a pay cut is sad brov....

if he was 33 and rated a top 10 player - then yes - keep him. but the fact that he played his worse year against our divisional foes, make 9 million hard to image.

I wish him the best, he was one of my favorite Dolphins...but now more than likely we will target a CB in 1st

What up DF...just a matter of time before you plugged in Hargreaves into another thread

        I like Mack better....

I knew he wouldn't take a paycut. He didn't really care for Miami (and his wife clearly hates it there). He probably figures he'll get paid by a team that's contending for a Superbowl win and needs a vet corner...and get to leave the Fins in the process.

Kind of saw this coming but also kind of wondering what Plan-B is...We can't just cut starters and assume we'll find another solid starter to fill the void..I know Grimes had a shitty year this past season but we've now just created another big hole...

Taking a wait and see with what Joseph is going to want to do with this defense. No way he can be as ineffective as Coyles was, who was given a ton of talent and wasted it.

If we get both Maxwell and Alonso, AND Hargreaves in the draft, I'm ecstatic.

I'm super interested in seeing the scheme & overall D that VJ puts on the field as well..Like you, i've got a good feeling about Joseph..though the pessimist (Pessimist? I thought i was a realist!) thinks just watch, he'll be amazing & leave next year for a HC job, lol...

If the deal for Maxwell and Alonso includes a swap of 1st rounders, we probably won't get a shot at Hargreaves (without getting lucky). If not, I'd be happy with Miles Jack, Lawson or Alexander.

Another thought....what about trading back again and picking up Jaylon Smith. Alonso could cover the middle while he redshirts....and if he heals 100% he could be the best player to come out of this draft. Just a thought...

Grimes cut is a done deal from what I'm reading.
While it takes two to have an argument, it only takes one to walk away.

He still would have made a decent #2 CB but that fact that he won't take a cut or get a divorce leads me to say BYE FELICIA!!

Apparently he bought Miko a boob job so he couldn't afford the cut... and was probably afraid she'd cut him otherwise... literally.

          Dolphins release Brent Grimes

When word of the Dolphins’ trade with the Eagles for cornerback Byron Maxwell first broke this week, it was followed in short order by a report that Miami would release cornerback Brent Grimes.
The trade got put on hold for a while Wednesday thanks to some concerns about Maxwell’s shoulder, raising the question of whether the Dolphins would go through with their plans to part ways with Grimes. The Dolphins ultimately approved Maxwell’s physical and the trade, however, and that means everything else is going according to plan.
The Dolphins confirmed that by releasing Grimes seconds after the start of the new league year.
Grimes started all 47 games he played in that span, intercepting 13 passes and getting selected to the Pro Bowl after all three seasons. His play was shakier in 2015 than it was in his first two years with the club, but the overall body of work was good and an argument could be made that he’s a better bet than Maxwell to play well in 2016.
That’s mitigated a bit by frequent issues between Grimes’ wife Miko and the Dolphins, but Grimes shouldn’t have too hard a time finding another job if on-field work is the prime concern.

Not at all happy about this. He's a solid CB that has done well for us. Yes, last season wasn't great. However, he was dealing with a stomach virus for a while, and still managed to swipe 4 balls. I have no doubt NE will pick him up. His wife is a nutcase who needs medication.

We wanted him back, but at a reduced contract. He refused and couldn't control his HO. That's all on him. Good riddance.
