  • Jalen Ramsey

In my opinion, Jalen Ramsey would be the best player the Dolphins could get in the first round. He won't be there at number 8 and it would cost the Dolphins about 800 points to trade up to get him. The 800 points is roughly a 2nd and 3rd round pick this year.

Are there any players the the Dolphins could trade to the Chargers to help make this trade happen? A player that might be worthy of a 2nd round pick, so it would only cost the Dolphins a 3rd round pick tor trade up for Ramsey? The Chargers are hurting on their entire offensive line, especially at the center position. They also need a defensive end and help in their secondary. Could the Dolphins restructure Grimes' contract and trade him to San Diego? Could they tag OV today and trade him to the Chargers? Would it be worth trading Pouncey and finding a new, cheaper center to be the leader on the o-line?

What are your thoughts on this topic?

My new thoughts on the draft are for the Dolphins to either trade up for Ramsey, stay put and draft DeForest Buckner, or trade back and get additional picks. Round 1 - Darian Thompson - Round 2 - Eli Apple and Kentrell Brothers

I'd prefer to stay right at 8 and grab Hargreaves. JMHO.

I agree. Ramsey is the best, immediate impact player on defense in the draft. I would be in favor of moving up. We need playmakers and 3rd and 4th round draft picks is just going to give us depth. We have a team full of back ups. Time to get some starters.

Hargreaves would be a day one starter and isn't that much worse than Ramsey. You'd be throwing a draft pick away on a guy simply because he's a tad bigger than Hargreaves?? I wouldn't do it. JMHO.

Two athletic 'freaks' at CB in the 2016 class

FSU DB Jalen Ramsey and Florida CB Vernon Hargreaves III tested in the 99th and 98th SPARQ percentile among NFL CBs respectively, according to Rotoworld contributor Zach Whitman.

This is what we waited all weekend for. The top athletes in this draft class are at defensive back. In fact Whitman predicts the top six Combine athletes to all be defensive backs. Whitman takes it one more step, stating this year's DB group "is probably one of the most athletic position groups in the last 18 years of NFL Combines." Whew. We knew Ramsey was an athletic specimen and Hargreaves is not far behind. Some might wonder if some of these defensive backs would have played receiver a few years ago, a group that was lackluster in terms of NFL Combine testing.

I'm starting to like Mackenzie better than Hargreaves....

My first choice is Ramsey....if he's not there, then my top selection for CB is Mack.

            Here is the thing brov

Hargreaves is the Sam Madison of this year draft class

Mack - is the Patrick Surtain.

Mack has only played two season (red shirted his first year) and no one wanted to throw his way. He' hasn't developed yet and is a proper student of the game. I think he offers more upside that VH.

This is just my opinion, but I believe Mack is the best CB in this draft class in terms of NFL future.

Ramsey is a stud and one of THE BEST players coming out in the draft this year at any position. Ramsey can play cornerback or free safety, which is a bonus. He was the only player to start at cornerback as a true freshmen since Deion Sanders. The guy is a baller and the Dolphins would improve their secondary immediately with this pick. There are other CB's they could take in the 2nd or later rounds that are really talented, like Apple, William Jackson, Artie Burns, etc.

I am really impressed with Ramsey and think he will be a real NFL playmaker....but we can't afford to move up. We need all our draft picks plus FAs....and should move down for more if we can. Ramsey and Miles Jack are the players I really have a man crush on this draft. At 8, I think Hargreaves would be a solid pick. I'd be fine with moving down though as there are some really good "second tier" guys (Lawson, Ragland, etc)

Shame about Jaylon Smith. I was dreaming about us getting him....

Alright, so it sounds like I'll be the only one smiling when we take Hargreaves at 8. I'm down with that. Oops and maybe Alpha. We posted at the same time.

Agreed that Ramsey is something special, but moving up in the draft is always difficult and it looks like there may be a run on QBs in the Top 7 so that Miami would have to put together a super package to compete for the same spot, but a different position. We need to finally get 3 starters, with our first 3 picks and cant be trading them away. Mr Bahamas mentioned that Mackezie is a student to the game, but in addition to being a 5'10" fireplug, Hargreaves is a coaches son so presumably he does he studies also. So, he is not my #1 choice but he would be a worthy pick.
NET: still sticking with my mancrush of Jack.....Today's NFL demands his type of LB, and our LBs are pathetic... and with Suh on the line we simply have to complement him with a dynamic playmaker LB. We can get a good CB in Round 2 (Jackson?), and we better grab a half dozen offensive linemen and DBs in Free Agency.

Sub-Question - Is there any scenario that could happen where Ramsey could fall to the Dolphins at #8 ? The run on quarterbacks that could happen might help Ramsey fall a few notches down the draft board. I am worried about the Chargers the most, then the Cowboys and Ravens. Hopefully some trades happen that prevent these teams from picking before the Dolphins.

I'm hearing Ramsey may have moved himself all the way up to the #1 pick. Titans need both CB and Safety. I don't think we have a prayer of getting Ramsey. my 2 cents.

Or we can trade Ryan Tannehill for Luke Kuechly, fix 2012, forget about Jack, and join the crowd to move up for a new QB.

I believe Kato's comment was tongue in cheek as we ALL know that Kuechly was taken by Carolina #9, the very next pick after Tannehill...Man, we could've had our next Zach!!!

Aha......I knew what he was doing........My comment was half joking, half serious. I know the Ross-Led Dolphins are all-in on Tannehill so he isn't going anywhere, but as a Dolphins fan if I don't have dreams I have reality. Tannehill would look good in a Browns uniform. :-)

Assuming Coyles didn't waste him his first 2 seasons, then Philbin trade him for a backup OG with a great ''stance''...

Absolutely no way in this universe that Ramsey falls into our laps, unless we can find a way to plant something on him in the next month or so....

I am okay with Ramsey at #8, but no way I would trade up for any CB. I prefer Jack in round 1. A good LB can impact your run defense, pass coverage and pass rush. I think I prefer Ragland over Ramsey for that same reason. But I'm going to blow a gasket if we don't go LB, CB or OL in the first round!
