  • I,m seeing at least $35M in Dolphins cap space

We have just under $9M now. I'm moving Grimes, Jennings, Jordan, Misi, Mitchell, and Dallas to free up $20.5M more, and the new projected cap adds another $5M. Thats $35M and I did not add in a Wake or Cameron restructure or Suh.

This allows us to pay OV, Miller, FA OG CB, and have money left to fill in the other blanks. Does not include tagging OV.

    And Matthews?

    Are you re-structuring Jordan Cameron?

I was good with Parker, Landry and Stills. The team's interest in Matthews surprised me. I thought they may be looking to go blocking TE but that is not the Gase, Have to wonder if they like him more than Stills. He will not sign to be a 4th wheel and Stills is a FA next year. I see Stills as a better fi9t.

Gase wants Cameron and see him staying with a new deal, same for Wake.

Matthews played very well and did more with less than Landry. First half of last season, Matthews was our best receiver. Tannehill's passer rating when targeting Matthews was 125.1. His 70% catch rate was higher than Landry yet Mathews had a 15.4 ypc to Landry's 10.3.. Out of the 119 wide receivers with the most playing time, Matthews is the only one who ranks in the top 25 for both catch rate and ypc. Usually it's one or the other because deeper targets correlate with lower catch percentages.

We have very little money allocated to the receivers as they are all on their rookie contracts.

        Consider the following:

FL = Parker - long, rangy, great hands, big play WR, with good speed to press the top.

SE = Matthews - strong bodied WR, attacks the intermediate routes and can run through arm tackles. A lighter Brandon Marshall with better hands and no selfishness. Good chemistry with his QB. Can pick up the missing yards from TE type routes.

Slot = Landry - move the chains, pick up the underneath stuff.

        Speed/Deep threat = Stills.

Cut Jennings, Jordan and Cameron and you save $14.5 mil. Restructure Grimes, then cut Thomas and Mitchell, giving us $7.5 mil more. Restructure Wake's $9.8M to around $6M, Should give us a total of $25M in savings.

I'm not saying not to have a TE involved in the passing game. I was saying Matthews is versatile and can work all 3 positions and run traditional TE routes. I'm also skeptical of banking on Jordan Cameron specifically. While I think Gase will get more mileage from him, I'm not sure he can stay healthy if he's more involved.

We have no real money allocated to WR. Stills or Hazel as #4 is an easy decision and you have to have depth at the WR position.

Completely on board with bringing in additional TEs. Cameron and Sims both were huge disappointments overall last season in the passing game. Per Gase's comments this week, they won't really know what the offense will look like until after OTAs.

Only thing I'd give Grimes is a laundry bag to pack up his shyt and get the hell out of Miami, damn army men in the grass no covering fool....But if a person wanted to know what type of grass is grown on football fields, then you hire Grimes, because he's had a close up look at all the stadiums grass and what type they have, I mean real close up look....

WR not gonna matter if the OL isn't COMPLETELY overhauled....

We both know where each other stand on Tannehill. There is no need to get into that. So, without going into THAT, I will say this, Cameron is an elite TE and is one of the best that this team has had in a long time, we just haven't seen it yet. Trust me when I say this, if Tannehill can look his direction more, and the OC will use him the way that he should, unlike the past OC's have, then Cameron might very well turn into Tannehill's best friend. A quarterback like Tannehill usually have two best friends, the tight end and the slot receiver. Why isn't the tight end Tannehill's best friend yet?!? Playcalling is part of the reason.

ALSO, I would NOT go so far as to say that the Dolphins need depth at wide receiver and can't afford to let the players you mentioned go. People need to remember that the Miami Dolphins happen to have a GREAT wide receiver on their team who is playing out of position. If you have never seen Tony Lippett play in college you should go to YouTube right now and find a highlight reel on that kid. He should be playing on offense, not defense. He can CATCH! That is who the Dolphins #4 WR should be. JMO

While I really like Matthews, I think he's a luxury. We aren't in bad shape with Parker, Landry and Stills (and I see potential in Matt Hazel too). I'd like to keep him, but only at the right price. We're WAY thinner at DE and RB. I think we'll keep Miller (and I REALLY HOPE SO). I think we'll get priced out of the OV market and will only keep him if we franchise him.

We don't know if Parker will be able to stay healthy an entire season. I'd rather pay Matthews $5M a season for a couple years than roll the dice on losing him and then have Parker go down. I'd love to see Parker and Matthews on the field at the same time.

While I'm not against it, I just don't see them moving on from Grimes. He still can make plays, we just need a bigger CB so he's not matched up against the monsters like Marshal and Wadkins every game. Unless we can replace Grimes with the money we save by cutting him, I think we need to hold onto him for another year.
Not Inbred... Just keeping it in the family 💯🤣🤣

Agree... biggest issues with Grimes are his age, his wife, and his salary. Can't do anything about the first 2.

I would release Grimes Jennings Jordan and Misi. That would save about $17M I think. I would restructure Wake and Cameron. That might save another $5M. I would keep Mitchell and Thomas because they don't make that much and to replace them would probably cost more than what they get paid. I am starting to lean towards letting Miller leave. I would draft a RB to pair with Ajayi because its best to stay young and cheap at the RB position.

        Free agent targets should be

OG Osemele or Boone - Osemele will be more expensive

DB Trumaine Johnson or Sean Smith - Johnson will be more expensive.

FS Tashaun Gipson - He should be affordable because he didn't have a good year because of his injuries.

DE OV - Ideally we can resign him at a reasonable price.

LB Trevathan if we think we can afford him.

Ravens are offering to make KO the second highest paid player on the team. At OG, he would geat around $8M a year but, they may want him at LT and go to $10M. Pretty sure we can forget about him.

I see Johnson at around $9M a year and we save $18M over 2 years on Grimes.
