  • FB Mike Tolbert??

Panther's FB Mike Tolbert is soon slated to become an unrestricted FA..Not sure how high a priority it'll be for Carolina to resign him, but if he's available he might be just what the doctor ordered if we're looking for a power inside running game with a guy who excels at blocking, getting the tough yards inside and receiving out of the backfield..

Not sure the direction Gase & Christensen will look to go with the O, but if they're looking to a power run game with a FB leading the way i'd definitely take a hard look at Tolbert if he's released..Thoughts??

Mike Tolbert did something in the Super Bowl he hadn’t done with the Panthers — lost a fumble. And he hopes he gets a chance to make up for it.The veteran fullback, who is about to become an unrestricted free agent, said he wanted a chance to return to the Panthers next season.“Do I want to [more]

Believe me, those are my top priorities as well...but i'm just talking about the other smaller parts that go into building a solid team..A really good blocking FB who's also deadly coming out of the backfield on quick screens or short passes can almost help a QB as much as a solid lineman..

It wouldn't hurt, looking at how that would help this team. Take some pressure off RT and slow the D down a little....

yeah, that's what i was thinking...might all be moot though as Tolbert wants to stay in Carolina & they'd be smart to keep him...

I'd go after Chris Ivory over Tolbert for that type of back. Tannehill is the worst QB in the league at hitting his RBs coming out of the backfield (always late or behind) so listing that as one of Tolbert's strengths means nothing for the Dolphins. Kind of like having a TE in Miami. The former scheme and current QB rendered them useless in the passing game. I think Lamar Miller is already dreaming of having that star on his helmet but I hope we choose to (and do) re-sign him over Vernon when the time comes.

IMHO the power run game will be back in the nfl in the next 5or6 years because defenses are so focused on stopping QB's like denver did to newton in the SB! a strong run game takes that away from a defense and also takes the pressure off the qbs to be this guy that has to carry the team on his back!

I loved Chris Ivory when he was with the Saints & still wonder why we didn't go after him when he became available..Lately with the Jets he seemed to fade big time as the season wore on, maybe there's a really short shelf life with a back like Ivory who is such a violent runner..IMO, Tolbert is closer to what we'd be looking for if we're specifically looking for a well rounded FB...

Never understood why we let Lousaka Polite go.
While it takes two to have an argument, it only takes one to walk away.

I liked Polite, but i think he was best at getting a yard or two when we needed it...We've got one of those guys already; Ryan Tannehill..unfortunately he gets us a yard or two when we normally need 8 or 9, lol....

            lol, touche'!

A Fullback is that guy that stays back and tries to block all of the guys a weak-ass line lets through on nearly every play...Maybe we should invest in one of those!

Ah........I get it now. HEY, do you think the Miami Dolphins could use one of these fullback guys? After all, the Dolphins have had one of the worst offensive lines for a decade straight and I don't think they even have one of these fullbacks that you speak of. Wow! I wonder if our front office knows about this position?
