  • Who would you choose?

I will list 5 players who will likely be available to us in each of the first 5 rounds. Which one of them would you choose?

R1. DB Vernon Hargreaves - DE Noah Spence - LB Reggie Ragland - LB Myles Jack - DE Shaq Lawson

R2. DE Shilque Calhoun - RB Derrick Henry - OG Cody Whitehair - FS Darian Thompson - LB Kentrell Brothers

R3. LB Deion Jones - DE Carl Nassib - RB Alex Collins - OG Joshua Garnett - DB Artie Burns

R4. QB Dak Prescott - DE Charles Tapper - OG Denver Kirkland - DT Hassan Ridgeway - LB Blake Martinez

R5. FS Deon Bush - LB Nick Vigil - DB Eric Murray - QB Kevin Hogan - RB Kenyan Drake

I'll assume that we held onto Vernon, Miller and addressed at least 1 OG in FA.

    1) Hargreaves is the highest rated of the bunch plus CB is where we need most help.
    2) Darian Thompson is a collector of INTs!
    3) Carl Nassib at 6'6 I'd say he can not only rush but block some passes. Plus he is a Nittany Lion.
    4) Blake Martinez is a leader on Cardinals defense and described as a poor mans Luke Kuechly.
    5) Deon Bush lets double up and he can train in the flex of FS/SS so we've got injury covered.

I realized watching Peyton that Defense wins Championships and so after picking D in the first Five we can dedicate the last 2 for O. Hoping the Guard in FA and let our 3 scrubs fight for the other Guard position or the Guard picked in the 6th, whomever is the better Man.

Let Mathews walk and let's find us another 7th round rough Gem ala Mathews jr. Let's also find Backs via UDFA to complement Miller and Ajayi.

There are others in the rounds after 1 that I would choose before the groupings you had, but I played by the rules...LOL

Rd1 - Hargreaves, if he's not there I would go Lawson over the others

Rd 2 - It would be between Thompson or Brothers. I would probably lean towards Thompson as I think he could be a stud FS in a couple of years.

        Rd3 - Garnett

        Rd4 - Martinez

        Rd5 - Drake

I was going back and forth between Burns and Nassb. Taking a DE here makes more sense then doubling up on cornerbacks but it all depends on what they do in free agency and who they let go. I did my draft the way I would probably handle the players and I would trade Grimes and re-sign Wake (Restructure) and I would TRY and do the same with OV.

Agree, FA will determine a lot of what happens, and I only took Brothers in the 2nd because I saw Nassib was there in the 3rd...

Not a fan of OV, but it does make sense to re-sign him given we have no idea what Wake will be like coming back.

Just wondering, am i the only one who thinks Vernon Hargreaves is a bit soft & his game is finesse (I could be totally wrong because i've only seen him play a handful of times)

That being said, while i really want a playmaking LB (Jack) & i'm drooling over Spence, but almost feel we'd have to take VH under this scenario out of necessity. Also, i'm also 'ASS-uming' we''ll look to get some major help on the O-Line through FA:

          RD1 - Hargreaves
RD2 - Brothers (If we can nab Trevathan in FA i'd go Thompson here)
          RD3 - Nassib
          RD4 - Tapper or Martinez
RD5 - I like most all of these guys, and it would come down to Bush (pass if we get Thompson) Hogan or Drake..I'm going Hogan here (I think he's a major sleeper)..We need a QB who can at least push RT a bit.

Agree... VH does appear as more of a ''finesse'' back. Still, his talent is unmistakable.

I think we can find a couple QBs as UDFAs, or with our 1st or 2nd 7th round picks...

yeah, i know he's a very talented guy,, i'm just looking for some serious physicality in the secondary..Watching championship football you almost always see physical play from the front four on down to the back-end...

Personally i think signing QB's with your 7th rounder and especially as UDFA's is a complete waste of time and provides nothing as far as competition at the spot..YAMMV! ;-)

            Think of VH as Surtain....

            Think of Mack as Madison

          alright Gents

First we need to ask ourselves a question...do we believe that we will be in the SB next year...my honest answer is no. We need to re-build. We have an aging D and no front line support on O. Based on this, I would go BPA

Round 1 - CB - Jalen Ramsey...I have a feeling Jax will take Max and Balt will VG...
Round 2 - OLB Jaylon Smith - I would take him with my first round pick
Round 3- C - Nick Martin - We need a legit back up C that can also play G
Round 4 - OLB - Yannick Ngakoue - Love his game
Round 5 - OT- Le'Raven Clark - inside out guy...Back up we need incase Albert or James gets hurt

            You're disqualified... :P

Re-read the OP - the exercise was to draft based on who was available from the list of prospects provided. ;-)

Agree with Cuch, you broke the rules...LOL I have actually seen a few mocks with Ramsey going #1. I don't see it happening as I see Ten taking Tunsil if they can't trade out.
