  • Matt Moore

Moore threw and completed one pass last year as Tannehill's backup. We paid him $2.6M on a one year deal, which is not a lot for a good vet QB. From what I have read, Tannehill got along well with him and said he did help him.

This year, with a new coach and scheme, could he be a bigger help for around the same money? I would think he would and don't see a better option.

Tannehill needs competition not a backup coach. If Moore wants to coach then hire him as a coach.

Exactly. How many coaches does this idiot need? It's his 5TH season in the NFL so why does he need a team of coaches to try and teach him basic fundamentals, especially one that will go against the cap. Matt Moore is a great guy and at one time he USED TO BE a good backup but those days are behind him now. Hire him on staff as a QB coach if he helps Tannehill in some way, but do NOT allow him to effect the salary cap. Tannehill desperately needs competition, at least two really good QB's that could push him, not a buddy who holds a clipboard and gives him advise from time to time.

You know DF I am starting to think you don't like Tannehill. Just a hunch.

Personally I think his hatred stems from a bet he lost and never paid off.

YOU just brought up the bet., trying to stir the pot.

Now, since I am responding to YOUR post the Forum Police will come and attack me as if I started it, much like refs do in the NFL, blaming the person who RETALIATES and letting the person who instigated the problem off the hook. Have fun posting about things you know nothing about.

Well, we did sign Zac Dysert... so there's that. ;-)

As for Moore, he's too expensive to keep at his current salary and as a FA, we can't trade him. IF we're going to bring him back, it should be at the vet minimum - and he has to compete for a position on the roster within the new offense that Gase and Clyde are implementing.

Hoping we either draft a guy late (Coker, Brissert, Prescott, etc...), or bring in some arms as UDFAs...

            YMMV.

AHA @ Zac Dysert.............I'm sure Tannehill is worried. j/k

IMO, Matt Moore is way past his point of usefulness..He can't push Tannehill, he can't win if Tannehill goes down and he provides zero competition @ the QB spot, so basically he's just taking up a roster spot..RT is pretty much a sure-bet to be our starter but bare minimum there needs to be solid competition in camp and perhaps even more importantly, a guy who has the skill-set to win if he's pushed into the starting lineup...

Not sure there's gonna be a big upgrade through FA available, but i'd try to sign a decent vet. and i'd definitely draft a guy between rounds 4-6

I agree. I believe that IF a veteran is available it would be smart to pick him up. It would be nice to know that the Dolphins have a veteran on the roster who can actually win games if the starter goes down. Moore would play solid at first, then fall apart in the 4th quarter. Then I think the Dolphins should draft a QB in the mid to late rounds, unless someone they can't pass on like Cook were to fall to them. Cook in the 2nd round or Brandon Allen in the 5th round would work for me.

Matt Moore sucks and Tanehill I feel good about. Not gonna anoint him Franchise but very close. Did I mention Matt Moore sucks.
Just frolic and live in the now like Dolphins and Man's best friend.

Chad Henne is a FA... and he made $1M more last season than Matt Moore... go figure. lol...

Ugly list of FA QBs - http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/ufa/quarterback/

Obviously, Osweiler and Cousins are going no where and the rest are JAGs...

Won't be surprised to see Dysert the #2. I'd rather pick up a couple rookie QBs myself and have Gase and crew groom them. If Tannehill can't secure the position after this season, go for a 1st round QB in 2017.

              YMMV.

Rather have Henne all day long compared to Moore. Henne has matured and Moore just sat there and collected,

No trade necessary, i'm sure both RG 3RD String & Johnny Douche-Ball will be cut..but either way it's a big HELL NO!!!!!

I think we should move on from Moore. I really don't think he is that good anyway. I would draft a QB in the later rounds and see if we can sign a veteran QB on the cheap. Tannehill has at least been durable, thats probably the best thing we can say about him.

Tannehill has been more than durable, he just can't overcome his OL, play calling, or penalties, all of which have killed numerous drives and kept him passing out of 3rd and long. The team needs to bring in competition, yes, but they aren't about to throw away a back to back 4K yard pass with a 2:1 TD/INT ratio.

Dysert can give us what Moore did in a vet presence IMO and he already knows the offensive system Gase wants to run. Agree on late round drafting or signing a UDFA QB...

I agree. That is his best quality so far. Hopefully that will change this year but I feel like everyone has been saying that for four years now. It's really time to bring in REAL competition for him now, for once, and this guy Dysert is NOT competition. That would be like bringing Devlin back. It is time for the Dolphins to bring in a veteran, if available, and draft a QB in the mid rounds if not sooner.

I wonder if a crafty veteran like Fitzpatrick would be good to try & bring in as competition for Tannehill (Tannehill won the starting spot by default & has NEVER had any true competition) Colin Kaepernick has publicly stated he wants to play for the Jets, and if the Jets are mutually interested, Fitzpatrick could be the odd man out...

Looking at that list of FA QBs, I'd be surprised if NYJ let him get away. He's the best QB they've had since Penny. Jets are going to be dangerous this season if they keep him and protect him. Chan Galley did a good job with Fitzy IMO. As for CKap, you'd think he'd be looking forward to playing for Chip Kelly who runs more of the type of offense CKap ran in college.

Who knows, but hoping for the worst for the stej... lol...

yeah, i agree,, Fitz & the Jets had a really good year, i mean they were playoff-bound 'til they pulled a 'Dolphins' & let Pittsburgh in through the back door...I as well think they're gonna be dangerous, but usually the Jets own worst enemy (like us) is themselves..who knows what they're capable of doing?!
