  • Dawn Aponte Leaves Dolphins

She left the Dolphins for a job with the Liions. Weird?

Dunno... that was a LaCanfora report, so... lol...

      Abramson is refuting the report.

Andrew Abramson ‏@AbramsonPBP 1h1 hour ago Despite reports that #Dolphins' salary cap guru Dawn Aponte is leaving for Detroit, I'm told she's staying in Miami.
Not sure what to think on this. She and Philbin were reportedly very tight. She spent 15 years in the Jets FO and worked with Tbaum there, then worked for Goodell at the NFL Office in NY, then jumped to the Browns for a year, then to us, so it wouldn't be too surprising if she moved on.

She has reportedly wanted to be the 1st Female NFL GM, so if she moves to another team, it could be a step towards that. That obviously didn't happen here given Tbaum passing her over for Grier...

She changed her mind and doesn't want to leave palm trees and tropical beaches.

I hope she doesn't leave. She has done a really good job with the cap. Her contract strategy IMO is great and leaves escape routes when players don't pan out. She is the reason we are not in cap hell.

She is not leaving. Another case of putting out a report before having the facts.

Yeah, LaCanfora and Marvez both are back-tracking on this and apologizing for the report...

Sorry, guys. My phone woke me up early this morning with this Twitter report. I actually checked the report prior to posting it so all the blame can't go Marvez, considering NBC Sports also reported it too. My apologies for passing on false information.

"According to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports, vice president of football administration Dawn Aponte is leaving the Dolphins front office to go work for the Lions.

Aponte handled the Dolphins salary cap, but even with old Jets co-worker Mike Tannenbaum coming in to run the place and hiring a new G.M., there have always seemed to be more pots than lids in that front office.

Now, she gets to work alongside a new General Manager in Bob Quinn under a new team president in Rod Wood."

Aha. I guess you're right. I just can't stand it when there are false reports about anything, so I feel bad that I was a part of this. Jones, Wake and Aponte seem to be the only people worthy of being associated with the team that are from the "Parcells Regime." I felt if she were to leave it would show signs that the front office isn't seeing eye to eye, and that is not a good way to start the offseason. I'm glad she is staying.

We could allow all the Happy Go Lucky, Everything Is Going To Work Out For The Best people vote on who gets to be president, VP and treasurer. I have a feeling because of my Tannehill "rants" that I might win by a Regan/Mondale landslide. AHA

The Miami Dolphins have always been my favorite team. I was pretty much born a fan. It was really easy loving this team growing up. They had a great head coach. They have the undefeated season. Marino was the greatest quarterback to watch play. They had the coolest uniforms in the league. I could go on and on. They are still the only team to go undefeated but nothing else is the same. 10 head coaches in 15 years. QB is still a huge question mark. They never make the playoffs. And, to top it off, their uniforms are ugly. In my opinion the Panthers now have the coolest uniforms in the league. Ross has singlehandedly ruined this once proud organization. But, that is just me finding things to bitch about. :-)

Actually i think Wayne HighZinga had a serious headstart on ruining the franchise before Ross's clueless ass ever stumbled upon the org., but Ross has definitely made up for lost time the last few years...

I agree with you on that point. Wayne is the one who brought in Parcells and all his friends and handed out jobs to those friends who were unqualified for those positions. He made other mistakes, obviously, but that was his most recent one. Then Ross put the pedal to the metal on driving this organization into the ground.
