  • Myles Jack or Jaylon Smith

Who would be the better pick at 8 for the phins?

  • #2
Myles jack. His injury is not as severe from some analyst on talk radio plus it was early in the season so will probably ready for the season.
Just frolic and live in the now like Dolphins and Man's best friend.

I'd be happy with either, but would prefer Jaylon Smith and think he'd be THE top LB in this draft pre-injury.

Smith, Jack, Ragland, Wright, or Brothers would all be good 1st/2nd round picks at LB. Also good LBs to be had in the mid rounds.

I've wanted a 1st round LB for years, but think we need a 1st round DB more this draft. JMO...

I think Jaylon Smith has the higher ceiling and if it wasn't for his injury he might not even have been available to us. I like Myles Jack also and since his injury occurred early in the season he will be taken before Smith.

I like Ragland a lot but #8 is a bit high for him. If Hargreaves and Ramsey are both gone then I would either take Jack or look to trade down. If we could trade down and still get either Smith or Ragland that would be a coup.

I would prefer that the Dolphins "reach " for a linebacker then to take a gamble on sa player coming off an injury. It works for other teams but not the Dolphins, they just have bad luck. Draft the BHPA.

I read Ragland is not good in coverage.

I am in the minority here because I do think Ragland is worthy of the #8 draft pick. I think he is the best ILB in the draft.

Ragland is a sideline to sideline thumper and Alabamas pedigree of NFL caliber LBs is unquestionably impressive.

You are actually the first person that has agreed with me about him. I am not sure if it's because he might get lost on a team so talented on the defensive side of the ball or if other people just rank other linebackers higher. I just know that the Dolphins have a long history of drafting the wrong players and I have a strong feeling if they draft a player with an injury concern, that injury will come back to haunt them and that player will more than likely be a bust. Why take the risk? Draft a player that you know is healthy and can play the position at a high level.

i don't understand the whole "not at #8" or whatever pick we have. We need a position, a player is available at that pick, so pick him. The money thing isn't that big an issue anymore (thankfully) so pick the guy you want. You never know how good or bad the player will be until you get him on the field so why does it matter where we pick him? Get the guy you want and don't hope he lasts another round. That's how I would run a draft.

Hell, the Wright Brothers would be an upgrade at this point!

My sentiments exactly..can't even count how many times i've heard where we lost out on some amazing talent we were really interested in, but figured he'd be there in the next round..

Glad everyone agrees that we should take whoever the FO wants in the 1st, regardless of position or need. Am I on the right board? lol...

If Jaylon didnt tear his ACL....he would be a top 3 pick....

That's the truth...We passed on Patrick Willis for Ted Ginn Jr....If Jaylon injury schedule is on track...we take him at 8 based on BPA.

If' his injury schedule is delayed....then we take him in the 2nd.

You don't pass on a player like Jaylon.

Completely agree. From what I've seen Smith is the top defensive player in this draft. Sucks he tore both the ACL and the MCL in his knee.

I didn't want him gone at all. I hated the pick at the time and hated his passivity, but I thought he was a jet killer and hated dumping him for nothing. Thought it was a bad decision on Ireland's part to dump him. Ginn's the best return man we've had in forever. Too bad those new ''catch-all'' gloves that Landry, ODB, and now Ginn are wearing now weren't available 5 years ago.

So, you're that one guy who wanted to keep Ginger, lol...Personally, i couldn't stand the heartless way the guy played the game,, so damn scared to get hit..Never could understand how someone, anyone who shies away from contact would choose football as their sport of choice...

Now you see why he shied away from getting tackled,, Still playing at a high level and still the fastest guy on the team... I as well thought it was a bad idea getting rid of someone with that kind of speed... If anything we would of had a much better return game plus a speedy weapon when you need one... No use crying over spilt milk... Damn! there sure is a lot of milk spilt over the years.....
