here is the letter I sent to my ticket rep to cancel my tickets.
Dear Sean,
After much thought and consideration I have decided not to renew my season tickets this year. I have been a fan since I was seven years old as well as a season ticket holder for many years. I have given my support financially and most of all EMOTIONALLY. Before I was local to South Florida I lived in the Tampa area and I used to commute to the games every week. I made a large effort to attend the games as I loved doing so. My loyalty and love for the Miami Dolphins can never be questioned by anyone. It has been a rough trip with this team since the 62-7 playoff loss to Jacksonville and Dan Marino’s retirement. The team has been in a constant spiral downward since then.
I do not like the direction that the team is going in, since 2004 we have had eight head coaches (counting interims). Not one has had NFL head coaching experience, they have all been rookies with training wheels learning on the job. I honestly thought this year would have been different, I really thought we would finally leave MALFUNCTION JUNCTION and start to rise again. Adam Gase might be a good coach, but again, on the job training with no NFL head coaching experience. Joe Philbin had the worse coaching staff in the league with the exception of Rizzi, and Campbell and yet, we kept seven of is coaching staff. I know they are looking for a YOUNG Don Shula, and truthfully, there is no other Don Shula and never will be, there will never be another Bill Parcels, Bill Bellichick or Jimmy Johnson, I assume you know what I am getting at. We never do anything right, we needed to blow it up and start over 100% fresh, but alas we do the same thing, Parcels leaves, we keep Ireland and Sparano, then we fire Sparano and keep Ireland and bring on Philbin, then the power struggle begins, Dawn Aponte and Philbin gang up on Ireland and we fire him. We hire Dennis Hickey (probably the 6th choice out of all the GM candidates… no one wanted the job because they were forced to keep the coach) and not let him bring in his own coach. It’s never done completely, it’s always half assed. And then we bring on the true MASTER OF DISASTER….. Mike Tannenbaum, he ran the Jets into the ground and he is already making his imprint here. There were plenty of opportunities to hire a capable GM or VP of football operations (Alonzo Highsmith would have been perfect) but that will never happen as long as we keep people from past regimes or let people have control of matters that are not their expertise. I know Tannenbaum some good qualifications but personnel is not one of them. Add all of this with my tickets going up $300 this year, that’s enough for me.
INSANITY – doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey R Theisler
